Manuscript Templates for Conference Proceedings

  • IEEE Financial Reporting Form
  • IEEE Publication Form
  • Conference Publication Form

The purpose of a conference template is to provide a consistent format for papers appearing in the conference proceedings. IEEE strongly encourages use of the conference manuscript templates provided below.

IEEE conference templates contain guidance text for composing and formatting conference papers. Please ensure that all guidance text is removed from your conference paper prior to submission to the conference.

Failure to remove template text from your paper may result in your paper not being published.

Accessing the templates

Microsoft Word

  • US letter (DOC, 30 KB) Updated 2024
  • A4  (DOC, 30 KB) Updated 2024

LaTeX Template Instructions (PDF, 63 KB) [ Be sure to use the template's  conference  mode.]

  • LaTeX Bibliography Files  (ZIP, 309 KB)
  • When working in Overleaf, the template is available at https://www.overleaf.com/gallery/tagged/ieee-official

1. For conference organizers:  The use of the conference manuscript templates provided by  IEEE eXpress Conference Publishing  will greatly reduce the chance for errors in the metadata visible in IEEE Xplore ® , and IEEE's downstream Indexing partners. Errors may result in delays in posting or in making any approved corrections, or in some cases, may simply persist. Using the templates is one of the ways to reduce errors.

If you wish, you may link to this webpage in its entirety. It is not recommended that you link to individual files, however, because they may be updated or replaced without notice.

2. Grateful acknowledgement is made to the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society, which provided the current LaTeX template.

3. Other templates that more closely align with the IEEE Transactions article format are available.

Simplified ieee template.

Quick start for modern LaTeXing for an IEEE conference, based on the Manuscript Template for Conference Proceedings .

The official template is distributed via CTAN as the IEEEtran package , which is actively maintained. However, de-facto configurations (hyperref) and modern features of latex (microtype) are not configured. This template does it.

This template is for the conferences. It is based on the bare_conf_compsoc.tex distributed by IEEE. In case you need other configurations, please adapt paper-conference.tex or run the latex template generator .

To build the whole document, execute following command. Note that this requires a working perl installation.

In case something goes wrong, you can instruct the LaTeX compiler to stop at the first error:

Following features are enabled in this template:

  • Provides a skeletal paper.tex file
  • Shows how IEEE copyright notice can be added.
  • (Optional) Typesetting of listings using advanced highlighting powered by the minted package.
  • Generated PDF allows for copy and paste of text without getting words with ligatures such as "workflow" destroyed. This is enabled by glyphtounicode , which encodes ligatures (such as fl) using unicode characters.
  • Support of hyperlinked references without extra color thanx to hyperref .
  • Better breaking of long URLs.
  • Support for \powerset command.
  • (Optional) Support todos as pdf annotations. This is enabled by the pdfcomment package.
  • microtypographic extensions for a better look of the paper.
  • Modern packages such as microtype , cleveref , csquotes , paralist , hyperref , hypcap , upquote , booktabs .
  • (Optional) LaTeX compilation using the modern lualatex compiler.
  • Ready-to-go configuration for latexindent .

Disabled features

Following features were not activated for this template. You can run the latex template generator to enable the features.

Hints on writing an abstract and thesis by Dirk Fahland.

  • paper-conference.pdf - regular conference paper.
  • paper-conference-minted.pdf - conference paper showing minted in action.

Quick start

  • Click on Download ZIP or here .
  • Extract main.zip in the folder where you want to write your paper.
  • Edit paper-conference.tex .
  • latexmk paper-conference .

Attention regarding compsocconf

Some conferences distribute a IEEEtran.cls V1.7a dated 2007 and a parameter compsocconf . The parameter compsocconf was NEVER included in Michael Shell's IEEEtran.cls file. It is unclear, who did this patch and why it is around in the wild.

The most recent version is V1.8b and automatically distributed over CTAN, because it is actively maintained by Michael Shell at http://www.michaelshell.org/tex/ieeetran/ . A full changelog is available at http://mirror.ctan.org/tex-archive/macros/latex/contrib/IEEEtran/changelog.txt .

The class parameter compsocconf never existed officially. One has to use conference, compsoc , because the parameters are "orthogonal": Either "conference" or "journal", either "compsoc" or not. With a modern IEEEtran.cls, you'll get

compsoc option is not needed any more

When using the 2007 version or the most recent version with (the unhandled) compsocconf , you'll get paper-conference.pdf instead of paper-conference-compsoc.pdf . That differs significantly in the style used for section headings. paper-conference-compsoc.pdf was removed from the build since August 2021, because compsoc option was not used by computer science conferences in 2021.

IEEE distributes their templates at https://www.ieee.org/conferences_events/conferences/publishing/templates.html . With the update of July 2017, the archive https://www.ieee.org/documents/ieee-latex-conference-template.zip contains both bare_conf.tex and bare_conf_compsoc.tex . Thus, the conference should state which option to use.

All in all, the distributions of IEEEtran from 2007 are roughly equivalent to \documentclass[conference]{IEEEtran} (and version V1.8b), which does not comply with IEEE's rules for computer science conferences, because the compsoc option is missing.

Hence, double check with your conference whether you have to use compsoc or not.

Statement from IEEE:

Please note that, as stated on the webpage https://www.ieee.org/conferences_events/conferences/publishing/templates.html . "IEEE does not require a specific format for their conference articles". Thus, we dot not purport that the "compsoc" is a requirement for publishing conference papers with us.

There is currently no official biblatex support. A first step towards that is done at the biblatex-ieee package .

MiKTeX installation hints are given at http://latextemplates.github.io/scientific-thesis-template/#installation-hints-for-windows .

  • Grammar and spell checking is available at TeXstudio . Please download LanguageTool (Windows: choco install languagetool ) and configure TeXstudio to use it . Note that it is enough to point to languagetool.jar . If TeXstudio doesn't fit your need, check the list of all available LaTeX Editors .
  • Use JabRef to manage your bibliography (Windows: choco install jabref ).

To have minted running properly, you have to do following steps on Windows:

  • Install python: choco install python - that uses chocolatey to install Python
  • Install pygments : pip instal pygments - that uses the Pyhton package manager to install the pygments library
  • When latexing, use -shell-escape : pdflatex -shell-escape paper . You can also just execute latexmk paper .

Usage with docker

The generated Dockerfile is based on the Dockerfile by reitzig . The idea of that system is to host the document sources in a directory separated from the output directory.

Following one-time setup is requried:

Q: I have questions on the IEEEtran class itself.

The author of the class offers a large FAQ at http://www.michaelshell.org/tex/ieeetran/ . Please read on there. The other possiblity is to execute texdoc ieeetran and read in the documentation. For example, there is an explanation of how to typeset the afficiliation information with four or more authors properly.

Q: How can I synchronize updates from the template to my repository?

  • Initialize your git repository as usual
  • Add this repository as upstream: git remote add upstream https://github.com/latextemplates/LNCS.git
  • Merge the branch upstream/main into your main branch: git merge upstream/main .

After that you can use and push the main branch as usual. Notes on syncing with the upstream repository are available from GitHub .

Q: I get the error ! pdfTeX error (font expansion): auto expansion is only possible with scalable fonts.

Install the cm-super package using the MiKTeX package manager. Then, run initexmf --mkmaps on the command line. (Long description: https://tex.stackexchange.com/a/324972/9075 )

Q: I get Package csquotes Error: Unbalanced groups or invalid nesting. What can I do?

A: You have activated \MakeOuterQuote{"} and used some special babel command to allow hyphenation at other places as a dash. One example is writing application"=specific . Now, you have to decide whether you want keep using plain quotes to enquote a word or use the special hyphenation command. In other words: Do you want "quote" and app\-lication\-specific or \enquote{quote} and application"=specific ?

Note that this should not happen when the template is generated as the setting tweakouterquote ensures that these two options are mutually exclusive.

Q: I need more space. What can I do?

The most simple solution to get more space is to exchange the font.

Q: How can I reformat my .tex files?

Execute following command:

Q: I want to obey the one-sentence-per-line rule. How can I do that?

Attention! This is work in progress and does not always produce best results.

Q: Can I also write in German?

Yes. You can regenerate the template and choose "German" as language.

How to Use the IEEEtran L a T e X  Templates

This document describes the most common article elements and how to use the IEEEtran class with L a T e X  to produce files that are suitable for submission to the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). IEEEtran can produce conference, journal and technical note (correspondence) papers with a suitable choice of class options.

Index Terms:

I introduction.

Welcome to the updated and simplified documentation to using the IEEEtran L a T e X  class file. The IEEE has examined hundreds of author submissions using this package to help formulate this easy to follow guide. We will cover the most commonly used elements of a journal article. For less common elements we will refer back to the “IEEEtran_HOWTO.pdf”.

This document applies to version 1.8b of IEEEtran.

The IEEEtran template package contains the following example files:

bare_jrnl.tex

bare_conf.tex

bare_jrnl_compsoc.tex

bare_conf_compsoc.tex

bare_jrnl_comsoc.tex

These are “bare bones” templates to quickly understand the document structure.

It is assumed that the reader has a basic working knowledge of L a T e X . Those who are new to L a T e X  are encouraged to read Tobias Oetiker’s “The Not So Short Introduction to L a T e X ”, available at: http://tug.ctan.org/info/lshort/english/lshort.pdf which provides an overview of working with L a T e X .

II The Design, Intent and Limitations of the Templates

The templates are intended to approximate the final look and page length of the articles/papers . Therefore, they are NOT intended to be the final produced work that is displayed in print or on IEEEXplore ® . They will help to give the authors an approximation of the number of pages that will be in the final version. The structure of the L a T e X files, as designed, enable easy conversion to XML for the composition systems used by the IEEE’s outsource vendors. The XML files are used to produce the final print/IEEEXplore ® pdf and then converted to HTML for IEEEXplore ® . Have you looked at your article/paper in the HTML version?

III L a T e X  Distributions: Where to Get Them

IEEE recommends using the distribution from the T e X User Group at http://www.tug.org . You can join TUG and obtain a DVD distribution or download for free from the links provided on their website: http://www.tug.org/texlive/ . The DVD includes distributions for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux operating systems.

IV Where to get the IEEEtran Templates

The IEEE Template Selector will always have the most up-to-date versions of the L a T e X  and MSWord templates. Please see: https://template-selector.ieee.org/ and follow the steps to find the correct template for your intended publication. Many publications use the IEEETran LaTeX templates, however, some publications have their own special templates. Many of these are based on IEEEtran, but may have special instructions that vary slightly from those in this document.

V Where to get L a T e X  help - user groups

The following on-line groups are very helpful to beginning and experienced L a T e X  users. A search through their archives can provide many answers to common questions.

http://www.latex-community.org/

https://tex.stackexchange.com/

VI Document Class Options in IEEEtran

At the beginning of your L a T e X  file you will need to establish what type of publication style you intend to use. The following list shows appropriate documentclass options for each of the types covered by IEEEtran.

Regular Journal Article

There are other options available for each of these when submitting for peer review or other special requirements. IEEE recommends to compose your article in the base 2-column format to make sure all your equations, tables and graphics will fit the final 2-column format. Please refer to the document “IEEEtran_HOWTO.pdf” for more information on settings for peer review submission if required by your EIC.

VII How to Create Common Front Matter

The following sections describe general coding for these common elements. Computer Society publications and Conferences may have their own special variations and will be noted below.

VII-A Paper Title

The title of your paper is coded as:

Please try to avoid the use of math or chemical formulas in your title if possible.

VII-B Author Names and Affiliations

The author section should be coded as follows:

Be sure to use the \ \ \backslash \ IEEEmembership command to identify IEEE membership status. Please see the “IEEEtran_HOWTO.pdf” for specific information on coding authors for Conferences and Computer Society publications. Note that the closing curly brace for the author group comes at the end of the thanks group. This will prevent you from creating a blank first page.

VII-C Running Heads

The running heads are declared by using the \ \ \backslash \ markboth command. There are two arguments to this command: the first contains the journal name information and the second contains the author names and paper title.

VII-D Copyright Line

For Transactions and Journals papers, this is not necessary to use at the submission stage of your paper. The IEEE production process will add the appropriate copyright line. If you are writing a conference paper, please see the “IEEEtran_HOWTO.pdf” for specific information on how to code ”Publication ID Marks”.

VII-E Abstracts

The abstract is the first element of a paper after the \ \ \backslash \ maketitle macro is invoked. The coding is simply:

Please try to avoid mathematical and chemical formulas in the abstract.

VII-F Index Terms

The index terms are used to help other researchers discover your paper. Each society may have it’s own keyword set. Contact the EIC of your intended publication for this list.

VIII How to Create Common Body Elements

The following sections describe common body text elements and how to code them.

VIII-A Initial Drop Cap Letter

The first text paragraph uses a “drop cap” followed by the first word in ALL CAPS. This is accomplished by using the \ \ \backslash \ IEEEPARstart command as follows:

VIII-B Sections and Subsections

Section headings use standard L a T e X  commands: \ \ \backslash \ section , \ \ \backslash \ subsection and \ \ \backslash \ subsubsection . Numbering is handled automatically for you and varies according to type of publication. It is common to not indent the first paragraph following a section head by using \ \ \backslash \ noindent as follows:

VIII-C Citations to the Bibliography

The coding for the citations are made with the L a T e X   \ \ \backslash \ cite command. This will produce individual bracketed reference numbers in the IEEE style. At the top of your L a T e X  file you should include:

For a single citation code as follows:

This will display as: see [ 1 ]

For multiple citations code as follows:

This will display as [ 1 , 2 , 3 ]

VIII-D Figures

Figures are coded with the standard L a T e X  commands as follows:

The [!t] argument enables floats to the top of the page to follow IEEE style. Make sure you include:

at the top of your L a T e X file with the other package declarations.

To cross-reference your figures in the text use the following code example:

This will produce: See figure 1 . . .

Refer to caption

VIII-E Tables

Tables should be coded with the standard L a T e X  coding. The following example shows a simple table.

To reference the table in the text, code as follows:

to produce:

Table  I lists the closed-form . . .

Order Arbitrary coefficients coefficients
of filter
1 ,
2
3 , ,

VIII-F Lists

In this section, we will consider three types of lists: simple unnumbered, numbered and bulleted. There have been numerous options added to IEEEtran to enhance the creation of lists. If your lists are more complex than those shown below, please refer to the “IEEEtran_HOWTO.pdf” for additional options.

A plain unnumbered list

A simple numbered list

A simple bulleted list

VIII-G Other Elements

For other less common elements such as Algorithms, Theorems and Proofs, and Floating Structures such as page-wide tables, figures or equations, please refer to the “IEEEtran_HOWTO.pdf” section on “Double Column Floats.”

IX How to Create Common Back Matter Elements

The following sections demonstrate common back matter elements such as Acknowledgments, Bibliographies, Appendicies and Author Biographies.

IX-A Acknowledgments

This should be a simple paragraph before the bibliography to thank those individuals and institutions who have supported your work on this article.

IX-B Bibliographies

References Simplified: A simple way of composing references is to use the \ \ \backslash \ bibitem macro to define the beginning of a reference as in the following examples:

  • [6] H. Sira-Ramirez. “On the sliding mode control of nonlinear systems,” Systems & Control Letters , vol. 19, pp. 303–312, 1992.

[7] A. Levant.“Exact differentiation of signals with unbounded higher derivatives,” in Proceedings of the 45th IEEE Conference on Decision and Control , San Diego, California, USA, pp. 5585–5590, 2006.

  • [8] M. Fliess, C. Join, and H. Sira-Ramirez. “Non-linear estimation is easy,” International Journal of Modelling, Identification and Control , vol. 4, no. 1, pp. 12–27, 2008.
  • [9] R. Ortega, A. Astolfi, G. Bastin, and H. Rodriguez. “Stabilization of food-chain systems using a port-controlled Hamiltonian description,” in Proceedings of the American Control Conference , Chicago, Illinois, USA, pp. 2245–2249, 2000.

IX-C Accented Characters in References

When using accented characters in references, please use the standard LaTeX coding for accents. Do not use math coding for character accents . For example:

will produce: é, ö, à, ẽ

IX-D Use of BibTeX

If you wish to use BibTeX, please see the documentation that accompanies the IEEEtran Bibliography package.

IX-E Biographies and Author Photos

Authors may have options to include their photo or not. Photos should be a bit-map graphic (.tif or .jpg) and sized to fit in the space allowed. Please see the coding samples below:

or a biography with a photo

Please see the end of this document to see the output of these coding examples.

X Mathematical Typography and Why It Matters

Typographical conventions for mathematical formulas have been developed to provide uniformity and clarity of presentation across mathematical texts . This enables the readers of those texts to both understand the author’s ideas and to grasp new concepts quickly. While software such as L a T e X  and MathType ® can produce aesthetically pleasing math when used properly, it is also very easy to misuse the software, potentially resulting in incorrect math display.

IEEE aims to provide authors with the proper guidance on mathematical typesetting style and assist them in writing the best possible article.

As such, IEEE has assembled a set of examples of good and bad mathematical typesetting. You will see how various issues are dealt with. The following publications have been referenced in preparing this material:

Mathematics into Type , published by the American Mathematical Society

The Printing of Mathematics , published by Oxford University Press

The L a T e X Companion , by F. Mittelbach and M. Goossens

More Math into LaTeX , by G. Grätzer

Further examples can be seen at http://journals.ieeeauthorcenter.ieee.org/wp-content/uploads/sites/7/IEEE-Math-Typesetting-Guide.pdf

X-A Display Equations

A simple display equation example shown below uses the “equation” environment. To number the equations, use the \ \ \backslash \ label macro to create an identifier for the equation. LaTeX will automatically number the equation for you.

(1)

is coded as follows:

To reference this equation in the text use the \ \ \backslash \ ref macro. Please see ( 1 ) is coded as follows:

X-B Equation Numbering

Consecutive Numbering: Equations within an article are numbered consecutively from the beginning of the article to the end, i.e., (1), (2), (3), (4), (5), etc. Do not use roman numerals or section numbers for equation numbering.

Appendix Equations: The continuation of consecutively numbered equations is best in the Appendix, but numbering as (A1), (A2), etc., is permissible.

Hyphens and Periods : Hyphens and periods should not be used in equation numbers, i.e., use (1a) rather than (1-a) and (2a) rather than (2.a) for sub-equations. This should be consistent throughout the article.

X-C Multi-line equations and alignment

Here we show several examples of multi-line equations and proper alignments.

A single equation that must break over multiple lines due to length with no specific alignment.

(2)

is coded as:

A single equation with multiple lines aligned at the = signs

(3)
(4)

The align environment can align on multiple points as shown in the following example:

(5)
(6)

X-D Subnumbering

The amsmath package provides a subequations environment to facilitate subnumbering. An example:

(7a)
(7b)
(7c)

X-E Matrices

There are several useful matrix environments that can save you some keystrokes. See the example coding below and the output.

A simple matrix:

(8)

A matrix with parenthesis

(9)

A matrix with square brackets

(10)

A matrix with curly braces

(11)

A matrix with single verticals

(12)

A matrix with double verticals

(13)

The array environment allows you some options for matrix-like equations. You will have to manually key the fences, but you’ll have options for alignment of the columns and for setting horizontal and vertical rules. The argument to array controls alignment and placement of vertical rules.

A simple array

(14)

A slight variation on this to better align the numbers in the last column

(15)

An array with vertical and horizontal rules

(16)

Note the argument now has the pipe ” | | | | ” included to indicate the placement of the vertical rules.

X-G Cases Structures

Many times we find cases coded using the wrong environment, i.e., array . Using the cases environment will save keystrokes (from not having to type the \ \ \backslash \ left \ \ \backslash \ lbrace ) and automatically provide the correct column alignment.

Note that the “&” is used to mark the tabular alignment. This is important to get proper column alignment. Do not use \ \ \backslash \ quad or other fixed spaces to try and align the columns. Also, note the use of the \ \ \backslash \ text macro for text elements such as “if” and “otherwise”.

X-H Function Formatting in Equations

In many cases there is an easy way to properly format most common functions. Use of the \ \ \backslash \ in front of the function name will in most cases, provide the correct formatting. When this does not work, the following example provides a solution using the \ \ \backslash \ text macro.

X-I Text Acronyms inside equations

This example shows where the acronym “MSE” is coded using \ \ \backslash \ text{} to match how it appears in the text.

X-J Obsolete Coding

Avoid the use of outdated environments, such as eqnarray and $$ math delimiters, for display equations. The $$ display math delimiters are left over from PlainTeX and should not be used in L a T e X , ever. Poor vertical spacing will result.

X-K Use Appropriate Delimiters for Display Equations

Some improper mathematical coding advice has been given in various YouTube TM videos on how to write scholarly articles, so please follow these good examples:

For single-line unnumbered display equations , please use the following delimiters:

Note that the * in the environment name turns off equation numbering.

For multiline unnumbered display equations that have alignment requirements, please use the following delimiters:

For single-line numbered display equations , please use the following delimiters:

For multiline numbered display equations , please use the following delimiters:

XI LaTeX Package Suggestions

Immediately after your documenttype declaration at the top of your L a T e X  file is the place where you should declare any packages that are being used. The following packages were used in the production of this document.

XII Additional Advice

Please use “soft” (e.g., \eqref{Eq} ) or (\ref{Eq}) cross references instead of “hard” references (e.g., (1) ). That will make it possible to combine sections, add equations, or change the order of figures or citations without having to go through the file line by line.

Please note that the {subequations} environment in L a T e X will increment the main equation counter even when there are no equation numbers displayed. If you forget that, you might write an article in which the equation numbers skip from (17) to (20), causing the copy editors to wonder if you’ve discovered a new method of counting.

B ib T E X does not work by magic. It doesn’t get the bibliographic data from thin air but from .bib files. If you use B ib T E X to produce a bibliography you must send the .bib files.

L a T e X can’t read your mind. If you assign the same label to a subsubsection and a table, you might find that Table I has been cross referenced as Table IV-B3.

L a T e X does not have precognitive abilities. If you put a \label command before the command that updates the counter it’s supposed to be using, the label will pick up the last counter to be cross referenced instead. In particular, a \label command should not go before the caption of a figure or a table.

Please do not use \nonumber or \notag inside the {array} environment. It will not stop equation numbers inside {array} (there won’t be any anyway) and it might stop a wanted equation number in the surrounding equation.

XIII A Final Checklist

Make sure that your equations are numbered sequentially and there are no equation numbers missing or duplicated. Avoid hyphens and periods in your equation numbering. Stay with IEEE style, i.e., (1), (2), (3) or for sub-equations (1a), (1b). For equations in the appendix (A1), (A2), etc..

Are your equations properly formatted? Text, functions, alignment points in cases and arrays, etc.

Make sure all graphics are included.

Make sure your references are included either in your main LaTeX file or a separate .bib file if calling the external file.

Quick start for modern LaTeXing for an IEEE conference

  • Generated PDF allows for copy and paste of text without getting words with ligatures such as “workflow” destroyed.

The parameter compsocconf was NEVER included in Michael Shell’s IEEEtran.cls file.

One has to use conference, compsoc , because the parameters are “orthogonal”: Either “conference” or “journal”, either “compsoc” or not. With a modern IEEEtran.cls, you’ll get

compsoc option is not needed any more

When using the 2007 version or the most recent version with (the unhandled) compsocconf , you’ll get paper-conference.pdf instead of paper-conference-compsoc.pdf .

All in all, the distributions of IEEEtran from 2007 are roughly equivalent to \documentclass[conference]{IEEEtran} (and version V1.8b), which does not comply with IEEE’s rules for computer science conferences, because the compsoc option is missing.

Hence, double check with your conference whether you have to use compsoc or not.

Statement from IEEE:

Please note that, as stated on the webpage https://www.ieee.org/conferences_events/conferences/publishing/templates.html . “IEEE does not require a specific format for their conference articles”. Thus, we dot not purport that the “compsoc” is a requirement for publishing conference papers with us.

If TeXstudio doesn’t fit your need, check the list of all available LaTeX Editors .

Note that this should not happen when the template is generated as the setting tweak_outerquote ensures that these two options are mutually exclusive.

Yes. You can regenerate the template and choose “German” as language.

How to insert a header in the IEEE Conference template?

I have to include a header over my title like: 2016 IEEE 24th International Requirements Engineering Conference

first_header

  • header-footer

Marijn's user avatar

  • 1 \usepackage{fancyhdr} –  Ruben Commented Jan 3, 2017 at 23:21
  • 3 Welcome to TeX.SX! If you add a MWE and more specific requirements you are most likely to get appropriate help. For instance to me it's unclear if the caption got to be only over the title of the paper or if it should be on every page? –  Ruben Commented Jan 3, 2017 at 23:22
  • The term header is not clear here! Running page headers? Or just a line above the title of the paper? –  user31729 Commented Jan 3, 2017 at 23:33

  • @Ruben: This is not working: \usepackage{fancyhdr} \fancyhdr[C]{2016 IEEE 24th International Requirements Engineering Conference} \title{My Paper} –  maxmin Commented Jan 3, 2017 at 23:39

This solution defines a custom meta-data command \titleheader that collects the information you want to put above the title in the canonical way, i.e.

Then next 6 lines of code take care of inserting this information at the right spot.

This may be at an academic conference, a business meeting or even a project progress update. Since LaTeX produces PDFs, you simply need to open the presentation PDF in full screen mode in your PDF viewer to give the presentation.

The template is very minimalist with large font sizes and little space for text and would thus be suited for popular presentations by confident speakers. It makes extensive use of background images for slides to provide a strong visual counterpart to the verbal presentation. Content within the presentation is housed within translucent colored circles or rectangles. The former are used for main points or section delineations while the latter are used for larger blocks of text or data slides. Several predefined color options are present within the template and you can also define your own.
