FAQ about Best Presenter Remotes

Best presentation remotes: conclusion, best presentation clicker - buyer's guide.

Drawing from my experience before making a purchase, it's important to consider a few key features that can make a difference in your presentation. Here's what to look for when choosing a presentation remote:

Presenter controls work with either replaceable batteries or a built-in rechargeable battery. I can not say which is better, because in both cases there are pros and cons. If you have opted for the battery version, then I recommend using either high-quality batteries, or replaceable rechargeable batteries of sufficient capacity.

Also, if you use the remote control with one battery long enough, keep a spare one handy just in case. The problem of changing batteries can be solved by purchasing a presenter with a built-in battery. These units are often charged via a standard micro USB input when connected to a laptop, PC, PowerBank or 220V AC adapter.

Another important factor when choosing a remote for presentations is the operating distance of the presenter itself from the mini USB receiver during the presentation. Also, it is necessary to consider visible obstacles in the signal path (walls, grills, doors, etc.)

There are models with the working distance to the receiver should not exceed 10-15 meters (32-49ft.), but there are models with a much greater operating distance, which reaches up to 100 meters ( 328ft.)! Therefore, when selecting a presenter it is necessary to pay special attention to this important technical characteristic and to be guided by the size of audience which you will have to work with. For example, Kensington Wireless Presenter  with 65 Ft/ 20 Meters or range or Logitech Spotlight Presentation Remote  with 90-100 Ft/30 Meters.

Compatibility

Next important point when choosing a presenter is its ability to connect to different operating systems (OS). So, for example, cheaper and less functional models of clickers can only work on operating systems such as Windows and Linux, but will not work on Mac OS. Accordingly, there are more versatile models of presenters that work on Windows, Android, Linux and, of course, MacOS. Note that most of the modern low-cost remotes, and those that are more expensive, do not need to install drivers, and work on the Plug and Play basis.

best presentation remote 2024

Depending on the functionality, different presenters are equipped with different sets of buttons, joysticks and switches. There are models that are equipped with LCD displays that can display the time, battery level, countdown timer, the quality level of radio signal reception, etc.

With the above-mentioned buttons and switches you can control your presentation - switch slides forward and backward, navigate through the presentation menu and system guide, adjust the system volume, make graphic notes directly on the slide with a simple hand movement, and so on. Accordingly, you should understand that the cost of a particular presenter will depend on the kind of the above-listed features the device will have.

An undeniable advantage of modern remote controls for presentations is a built-in laser pointer. This option allows you to make your presentation even more interactive and understandable for the audience. With a laser pointer you can focus the audience's attention on specific details from a considerable distance (up to 300 feet / 100 meters) from the portable presentation screen .

Often manufacturers use a red laser for this purpose because it is most visible to the human eye and attracts more attention. However, the green laser is gaining in popularity.

Laser Pointers

Many wireless presenters come with built-in laser pointers. If you plan on using your remote to point out details in your presentation, make sure the laser pointer is bright and easy to see.

Battery Life

Make sure the battery life is sufficient for your presentation needs. Most remotes run on AAA batteries, but some models have rechargeable batteries that can be charged via USB.

Logitech R800 Presentation Clicker Remote

Best Presenter Timer

Logitech R800 bluetooth presenters

The Logitech R800 is a high-quality, functional device. You can fully learn how to work with it in a couple of minutes. The perfect-looking non-slip plastic case and ergonomic shape make the presenter a pleasure to hold.

When carrying it, it fits comfortably into the speaker's case - the case has a hole for it, making it difficult to leave it in the computer.

The device works simply only with Windows. Working on MAC OS X requires some effort. The "Forward" and "Back" buttons on the presenter repeat the functionality of the PageUP and PageDown keys on the keyboard. How Does the Presenter Remote Work? - the Basics in Brief

best presenter remotes review 2024

A presentation pointer is a remote control for a PC or projector combined with a laser pointer. It is often referred to as a presenter clicker or powerpoint clicker. Communication between the clicker and the laptop is via radio channel or Bluetooth. For this purpose, a compact (smaller than a flash drive) receiver is attached to the clicker, connected to the PC via a USB slot.

To initiate the presenter, it is enough to press the button on its body. The computer detects the clicker as a USB-keyboard. There is no problem with installing drivers and additional applications, they are not needed. The body of the clicker has, besides the general switch, buttons for turning the laser pointer on and off, for changing slides in any order, and for replacing them with coloured fields.

All best presenters, or as they are also referred to: best presenter clickers, best powerpoint clickers or best presentation pointers, are designed to optimise and simplify the process of giving presentations.

How is the Presenter Connected?

Let's move on. The presenter is connected to a laptop or PC wirelessly, through a radio channel via a wireless mini USB receiver, which is supplied with the device. Often the USB-receiver is hidden in the case of the presenter, so that it is convenient to store it and not to lose it during transportation. The receiver is connected to a standard USB input on a laptop or PC, and not to the projector as some people mistakenly think. The projector in this case only projects images (slides, video) on a special screen or wall, and the presentation itself runs from the PC on which it is set.

Silent or Clicking Presenter?

Finally, I would like to draw your attention to the fact that some presenters, while pressing the buttons, make relatively loud clicking sounds like a PC mouse. Accordingly, these clicks can be heard by the people who are close to you, which is not always pleasant and appropriate. Therefore, I recommend you to take into consideration this seemingly insignificant nuance when choosing a remote control for presentations.

Here are some answers to some of the most frequently asked questions about presentation clickers:

best presentation remote

What is a Presentation Remote?

The presentation remote is designed to control multimedia computer resources during meetings, presentations, speeches for the audience. The presenter consists of a transmitter and a USB receiver connected to a computer or laptop and provides wireless control of the presentation. Bluetooth is also used as an alternative connection means.

What should I look for in a presentation remote?

When choosing a presentation remote, consider factors like wireless range, compatibility, laser pointer brightness, battery life, ease of use, and additional features like timers or vibration alerts.

How long can the presenter work on a single battery charge or on one battery?

There is no definite answer to this question. Duration of operation on one charge depends directly on the following factors: the battery capacity of the battery or the built-in battery, how often and for how long the presenter is in use, how far it is from the USB-receiver and what kind of obstacles are in the way of signal, how often you use the laser pointer function, etc.

Do presentation remotes work with Macs?

Most presentation remotes work with both Windows and Macs, but it's important to check the compatibility before making a purchase.

Can I use a presentation remote with my smartphone or tablet?

Some presentation remotes are compatible with smartphones and tablets, but it's important to check the compatibility before making a purchase.

Do Presentation Remotes Work with Google Slides?

Most of presentation remotes are compatible with Google Slides, but not all. Double check the list of presentation programs a selected presenter works with.

Will my Presentation Clicker Work on TV?

Traditional laser pointers aren't compatible with LCD or LED TV monitors. They can cause severe harm to the screen because they ruin the pixels on the TV screen. The damage can be permanent and you'll be paying for a new TV screen. So using your standard laser pointer isn't the most effective option.

A majority of today's TV monitors are made to block out different hues and glares off of the screen. Polarising filters provide greater contrast of colours. The screen's barrier may be too high traditional lasers to penetrate. This means that the laser pointer won't be visible in the display.

Pointers that operate at 5 mW or more, can cause damage to the pixels on the screen. But digital laser pointers perform better than conventional laser points. Digital presenter remotes, such as Spotlight are able to work flawlessly on TV screens.

Whether you are a student, teacher, or business professional, a reliable presentation remote can be crucial to your presentation.

I've tried to tell you as much as I can about this essential device as a presentation remote. And I have reviewed the best presentation remotes on the market, such as the Logitech R500s Laser Presentation Remote Clicker , Kensington Wireless Presenter or Logitech Spotlight Presentation Remote .

I hope this guide has helped you find the perfect presentation remote to meet your needs!

What is a Presentation Clicker? [And How to Use it?]

By: Author Shrot Katewa

What is a Presentation Clicker? [And How to Use it?]

If you are preparing to give a presentation, a presentation clicker can be a very helpful tool! In fact, if you have never given a presentation on a stage before, and you probably just found out that you will need to use a presentation clicker during the presentation, it can make you a bit anxious. This may perhaps make you wonder, what exactly is a presentation clicker?

A presentation clicker (or a presentation remote) is a wireless device that acts as a remote to control the movement of your slides during a presentation. A presentation clicker helps to advance the slides, or move back. Some presentation clickers also have a built-in laser that acts as a pointer.

In this article, I will help you understand a bit more about a presentation clicker, and provide you with tips on how to use it when giving a presentation. Plus, if you are looking to buy a presentation clicker, I shall be sharing some of the best options for you to choose based on my experience.

So, let’s get started!

How Does a Presentation Clicker Work?

A presentation clicker works by connecting to a computer wirelessly using a Bluetooth connection (often using a Bluetooth receiver). Once connected, it allows the presenter to move the slides forward or backward in the presentation mode using the buttons present on the clicker.

Thus, if you are using a presentation clicker when giving the presentation, you can easily move around on the stage and you don’t have to worry about running back to your computer (or asking someone else) to change the slide!

presentation clicker compatible with google slides

It is important to note that most presentation clickers come with a Bluetooth receiver that is injected into a USB slot on the computer (much like how a wireless mouse is connected to a laptop or a desktop). Furthermore, a receiver is unique to a specific device. Meaning, if you lose the Bluetooth receiver, the presentation clicker will not work!

Additionally, some clickers are designed to work specifically with a special application such as Microsoft PowerPoint. These clickers won’t work with other presentation applications like Keynote and Google Slides. Whereas, some clickers work with most major presentation applications and even with PDF files!

If you are planning to buy a presentation clicker, make sure that you choose one that works at least with Microsoft PowerPoint, Google Slides, and Keynote!

I’m also going to share with you how to use a presentation clicker, so make sure that you keep reading!

Top 5 Best Presentation Clickers

Sometimes, organizers simply don’t provide the presenter with a presentation clicker. Even when they do, the type of clicker will vary from one event to the other! Learning how to use a different clicker at the last moment can be a bit annoying especially when you are focusing on getting the presentation delivered perfectly!

That is one of the main reasons I carry my own presentation clicker. In fact, I highly recommend you do that too as it really doesn’t cost too much to buy a clicker.

So, let me share with you a few options that you should consider if you are interested in buying a clicker for delivering presentations.

Note – You can also check out the best selling presentation remotes on Amazon. These are usually the most reliable choices in addition to the ones that I’ve tried and reviewed below!

If you are in a rush and want to know which one is the best, my recommendation would be to go with Logitech Spotlight Remote . It is the easiest one to use with a design that requires minimal explanation, and works in a plug-and-play model! It even works without the receiver, that way you don’t have to worry about losing the receiver!

1. Logitech Spotlight Presentation Remote [Most Complete]

Spotlight by Logitech is THE BEST presentation remote out there! It provides you with some of the most unique features. Some of these features include –

  • Mouse-like cursor control
  • Allows you to not only highlight but magnify elements on the screen (which is pretty cool!)
  • Range of up to 100 feet
  • Seamless connectivity – it really is seamless as it works even without a receiver via Bluetooth. That way, if you lose the receive it still works! (If you are like me, you’re bound to lose a receiver at some time!)
  • Highly compatible – Works with not just Google Slides, but also with PowerPoint, and Keynote. It even works with PDF files and Prezi!

In my experience, the most helpful feature is its design! Other than the Power button, it only has 2 buttons which are used for next and previous slides. That way, you don’t get confused when presenting and end up showing slides that you aren’t meant to!

The best part is that it is not obnoxiously expensive! For all the features that it encompasses, Spotlight is quite affordable.

Check out the latest price by clicking on the button below.

2. Beboncool RF Wireless Presenter [Most Budget Friendly]

presentation clicker compatible with google slides

The Beboncool is pretty budget-friendly and also has an integrated laser pointer. It is made out of unique ABS material which is environmentally friendly.

To use it, you do not have to install any software. Just plug in and it is ready for some action – which is quite helpful.

It has all the standard features available on the remote. It works with both Windows and Mac. Furthermore, it can also be used with PowerPoint and Keynote along with Google Slides.

The only drawback (if we can call it that) is that it doesn’t come with a battery. So, you really can’t just unbox and use it directly! But, for most people, that shouldn’t be a problem I suppose.

3. DinoFire Presentation Clicker [Most Ergonomic]

DinoFire pointer comes with quite a sleek and ergonomic design. It is comfortable to hold in your hands.

presentation clicker compatible with google slides

It has 3 clicky buttons and one integrated laser pointer. Some of the other features that it offers are as follows –

  • Range of 100 feet
  • Wide Compatibility – Works with all Windows operating systems, Mac and Linux. Furthermore, it also works with PowerPoint, Keynote, and Google Slides
  • Magnetic USB receiver – this ensures that the receiver doesn’t accidentally fall off.
  • 3-year guarantee on USB receiver – this is really cool! If you end up losing the receiver, the manufacturer will replace the receiver for you completely free for the first 3 years! This is one thing that I definitely loved about this clicker!
  • Low power indicator – another helpful feature is the low power indicator. This feature ensures that your presentation clicker doesn’t ditch you in the middle of your presentation!

If you are looking for a presenter remote on a budget, I would recommend DinoFire presentation clicker with my eyes closed! Apart from being the most ergonomic, I also feel that this is the best all-round remote on a budget!

presentation clicker compatible with google slides

The Logitech R400 is perfect for professional usage and compatible with all windows versions. It has a strong red laser to highlight your presentation content. The most attractive part is that it has touch-sensitive buttons and 50 feet wireless coverage.

While it does come with most of the standard features, there are a couple of drawbacks to keep in mind though –

  • It requires 2 AAA batteries to use
  • It is only compatible with Windows

That said, you do get a trusted product with a fail-proof brand name like Logitech at quite a low price point!

How to Use a Presentation Clicker?

As mentioned previously, the presentation clicker will usually have at least the previous and the next button on it.

To use a presentation clicker, first, connect it to the computer. Then, enter the presentation into presenter mode. Finally, press the ‘Previous’ and the ‘Next’ buttons on the clicker to move the slides ahead or back in the presentation. To use the laser pointer, press and hold the laser button.

Using a presentation clicker is actually not difficult at all. So, don’t worry if you have not used it before. That said, presentation clickers usually have their buttons placed differently and it varies based on the model and the brand.

Some clickers come with additional functionality such as converting the clicker into a mouse. It can be annoying when you have to adjust to a presentation clicker every time. However, it is better to spend 5 minutes orienting yourself with the clicker before starting with the presentation rather than committing a mistake during the presentation.

What Else is a Presentation Clicker Called?

There are several names used for a presentation clicker! You may hear other people refer to it as a Presentation Remote, Wireless Clicker, Slide Clicker, PowerPoint Remote, Presentation Pointer among others!

You can rest assured, all these actually mean the same thing!

To do this, ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your computer, put the clicker in pairing mode (usually by holding down a specific button), and follow the on-screen prompts to complete the pairing process.

Is green or red laser better for presentation?

Both green and red laser pointers can be practical, but each has its advantages and considerations:

Green Laser Pointers:

  • Visibility: Green lasers are generally more visible to the human eye than red ones, especially in brightly lit rooms or when projecting on screens with high ambient light.
  • Long Range: Green lasers tend to have a more extended range than red lasers, making them suitable for larger venues and auditoriums.
  • Professional Look: Green lasers often appear more vibrant and professional, which can enhance the presenter’s image.

Red Laser Pointers:

  • Cost-Effective: Red lasers are more common and often affordable than green ones.
  • Suitable for Small Rooms: Red lasers can be as effective as green ones in smaller meeting rooms or classrooms with lower ambient light.
  • Eye Safety: Some green lasers may have a higher power output, which can concern eye safety. Conversely, red lasers are generally considered safer and are often used with lower power ratings.

Regardless of the color, always ensure the laser pointer you choose is within safe power levels and handle it responsibly to avoid any potential hazards.

How do I make PowerPoint slides move automatically?

  • If you want to set specific timings for each slide, go back to your presentation, and in the “Normal” view, select the slide you want to set timings for.
  • Click on the “Transitions” tab in the top menu.

Best Presentation Clicker [Complete Guide for 2023]

If you’re going to be taken seriously in your presentation, the last thing you want to be doing is walking back to your laptop and changing the slides. Or worse, asking someone else to do it for you. You can avoid all of this just by getting a good presentation clicker, which will allow you to present your work with ease and a level of class.

But, there are a lot of different presentation clickers on the market and it can be really difficult to tell which one would be best for your needs. So, I’m going to run through some of the options that are currently available so that you have a good idea which would suit you most.

Best Presentation Clicker

Logitech Spotlight

Logitech Spotlight Wireless Presentation Remote, 2.4 GHz and Bluetooth, USB-Receiver, Digital Laser Pointer, 30-Meter Operating Range, Dual Connectivity, Timer, PC/Mac/Android/iOS - Gold/White

The Logitech Spotlight has been around for a few years now, and it’s become one of Logitech’s best selling clickers. However, it wasn’t always popular as it isn’t a typical presentation clicker.

The Spotlight doesn’t have the same laser pointer that you’ll get with most others out there. Instead of the laser, it actually highlights wherever you’re pointing on the screen with a small illuminated circle.

This is much better for people who are going to be using the pointer on screens, as typically laser pointers don’t show up that well on screens. You can actually also magnify the area on the screen where you’re pointing too, which can be advantageous in big meeting rooms. But, it can take a little while to get used to.

It can also be annoying for those who will be using the pointer on different computers in different rooms, as you’ll have to set the Spotlight up each time that you use it.

Another good point about the Spotlight is that you can charge it via a USB connection. This is much better than having to restock on AAA batteries, which can be a pain with some pointers.

Plus, the Logitech Spotlight has Bluetooth built-in, so you can connect it your your computer or laptop quite easily. You won’t need to worry about any other kind of hassle linking it up to your device.

So sum it up, this is probably the best clicker for presentations currently available. It’s slick, easy to use and you get a decent range too. The only downside to the Logitech Spotlight is that it might be a little expensive for those that just want the basics. However, if you can afford it, then it would make a good investment.

Verdict: Although it is costly, this wireless presenter is one of the best options on the market. Check out our full Logitech Spotlight review if you’re not convinced.

Kensington Wireless Red Laser Clicker

Kensington Wireless USB Powerpoint Presentation Clicker with Red Laser Pointer, Compatible with Windows & macOS - 20 m Range (K33374EUB)

For those looking for a cheap yet reliable presentation clicker, then I’d advise you to take a look at this Kensington model. Whilst it only has a 60 foot range, this will likely be more than enough for the majority of people.

This clicker has pretty much everything you would need. Along with the 60 foot range you have a nice ergonomic design, which fits into your hand comfortably.

The device will switch off to reserve battery when you’re not using it, which means you can keep the dongle plugged into your laptop or computer if you wish. It’s actually a little larger than it appears in the pictures online, but it is still quite light.

As wireless presentation remotes go, this one is very easy to set up and use. It works well with different operating systems, and there’s no need for you to install any presentation software either.

So, if you aren’t looking for any fancy features and you just want a clicker that will allow you to run through presentations easily, then this is probably your best bet.

Verdict: If you’re looking for a reliable presentation remote, then it is hard to look past this Kensington wireless presenter.

No products found.

Another pretty good option for those looking for a presentation clicker on a budget is this Doosl remote. It has all the capabilities of a more expensive remote, just with a lower price tag attached.

What makes this model a pretty good option is its sleek design, which is similar to that of a thick marker pen. It’s very easy to pop it into your pocket, and it also has a clip attached to you can make sure you don’t lose it too.

It works up to a 100m distance as well, so you don’t need to worry about being too far away. Having this long distance usage gives you full freedom to move around any lecture hall or presentation area.

It’s fully compatible with any different software you need to use it with, be it Powerpoint, Google Slides or Keynote. You can easily recharge it via a USB port, and it doesn’t take long to set it up and get it running. In fact, you can get it up and ready within just a few minutes of your time.

So whilst this device isn’t a well known brand like Logitech or Kensington, it still does the job pretty well. Plus, it’s fairly cheap too, and there’s no long setup process as you get with more expensive presentation pointers.

Verdict: Another option for those who are looking for a slimline green laser pointer.

Kensington Presenter Expert

Kensington Presenter Expert Green Light Wireless Presenter with Cursor Control, Joystick and Backlight Buttons - Black

The Kensington Expert is another viable choice if you’re looking for a good presentation pointer. It uses a green laser, which will suit some people more than a red laser, as typically green is more visible for most.

One of the best things about the Kensington expert is its simplicity. It’s very easy to use, as it only has 4 directional buttons and a central select button. You can turn it off when it’s not in use too, which can help you to maximize its battery life.

Whilst this might not seem important, sometimes you’ll likely be presenting in a dark or dimly lit room. So, it can be really important to be able to control your presentation without actually looking at the remote.

With the Kensington Expert, you can easily switch between presentation mode and cursor mode, which will save you from having to rush back to your laptop to make any changes.

It will work equally as well on both Mac and Windows, so it doesn’t matter what operating system you use. Overall, the Kensington Expert is another good option and quite a professional presenter, but perhaps a little expensive for what you’re actually getting.

Verdict: Work well with a 2.4GHz wireless receiver, this is another presentation remote that deserves to be considered.

Logitech R400

Logitech R400 Wireless Presentation Remote, 2.4 GHz, USB-Receiver, Red Laser Pointer, 15-Meter Operating Range, 6 Buttons, Intuitive Slideshow Control, Battery Indicator, PC - Black

The Logitech R400 has been around for absolutely ages, and it’s still a popular choice for those looking for the basics. The R400 is the little brother of the R700 and the R800.

The only differences between the R400 and the other variations are the range they have, and the colour of the pointer itself. Whilst the Logitech R800 uses a green laser, the R400 uses a red laser instead. However, the R400 still has a 50 foot range, which should be more than enough for most people.

The main thing that the R400 has going for it is the low cost – it’s the cheapest Logitech clicker available, and many people want to stick with using an established brand like Logitech (a good idea!).

The model itself is pretty standard, working via a USB connection only. It’s lightweight, and the controls on the remote are pretty self explanatory, so anyone could use this clicker easily.

If you want the updated version of the R400 released in 2018, then you might want to check out the Logitech R500 . It has Bluetooth connection and a range up to 11 feet.

However, it’s typically twice as expensive as the R400, so it really depends on whether it’s worth it for you.

Verdict: The Logitech R400 has stood the test of time, and is still one of the better presentation clickers available.

Common Questions about Presentation Clickers

What is a presentation clicker.

If you’re wondering what exactly a presentation clicker is, then you’re not alone. They’re called different things by so many people that it can be difficult to know exactly what they are! They’re also referred to as presentation pointers and sometimes presentation remotes too. You generally use the to click through presentations, using Powerpoint or Google slides. Often, they’ll come with a laser attached to the top, so you can point out anything in your slides to the audience that’s watching.

What colour laser is best for a presentation pointer?

Well, presenters like the Logitech Spotlight don’t use a laser at all, and it’s likely that more and more of us will start using this type of technology. Though, most people nowadays are still using laser pointers. And for this, green is the clearest laser colour to see for most people – it’s much easier to see than a red laser pointer.

Will my presentation clicker work on a Mac?

Yes, your presentation pointer should work on a Mac without any issues. With certain pointers, you might have to install some software for it to work properly. But for the most part, you can use your wireless presentation remote on either Mac or Windows.

Can I use a phone as a presentation clicker?

You can use your phone as a presentation clicker – there are some good apps you can download if you want that can help you with this. Unfortunately, you can’t use your phone as a pointer, as there isn’t an app (or decent one that I’ve used, anyway) that can clearly point onto a screen.

Will my presentation clicker work on a TV?

Depending on which presentation pointer you use, some will point onto a TV easily, whereas others won’t. It’s worth looking at the reviews beforehand to get an idea of whether it will work on a TV, as it really depends on the model. For televisions, you can look at a clicker like the Logitech Spotlight, which doesn’t rely on a laser pointer to work.

With the Logitech Spotlight being the most used pointer in recent years, it seems pretty clear that we are moving away from the technology of the typical laser presentation pointer. Although a laser still works, if you can highlight an area on a presentation clearly with a remote, then it makes sense to do this as opposed to shining a laser across the room.

For now though, presentation pointers using lasers still seem to be extremely popular and used within office and education environments. A presentation pointer can make things much clearer for those watching your presentation, so if you want to present something fluidly, a pointer is an essential tool to have.

Logitech Spotlight Review

Logitech r400 vs r500 vs r700 vs r800 comparison.

The 7 Best PowerPoint Clickers on the Market (2024 Review)

Written by co-founder Kasper Langmann , Microsoft Office Specialist.

Want to step up your presentation game? A smart and reliable PowerPoint clicker is all you need🎯

It is a small wireless remote that fits in your hand. Use it to move between different slides. Pause or restart, laser point, and control what your audience gets to see.

The right PowerPoint clicker can turn you into a presentation wizard🧙🏼‍♂️

But with so many of them on the market, how do you find the right one? Below, I’ve listed the seven absolute best PowerPoint clickers on the market.

⚠️Spoiler Alert⚠️

My top pick is the Logitech R800 .

It stands out as one of the most advanced clickers with very well-thought-out features. Such as a small LCD to help you track the time gone into presenting. Set a timer on it or monitor the battery level of your clicker🔋

However, these might not make the most important features for your needs. To find the best of the best for yourself, continue reading.

A quick note of how we test each clicker

Each clicker on this list is best in at least one crucial aspect. Be it the battery or the laser light, or something else.

To pull this list together, we have evaluated each presenter on a total of 5 parameters 💪

  • Laser Pointer
  • Control Range
  • Compatibility
  • User Friendliness

So, in the review below, we will score each of these parameters for every clicker. Based on these, you can find the clicker that best suits your needs.

PowerPoint Clickers Reviewed

1: Logitech R800 (Best Overall)

2: Kensington Wireless Presenter K33272WW (Best Basic)

3: Kensington K72426AMA (Best Cursor Control)

4: Logitech R500 (Easiest to Use)

5: Amerteer Wireless Presenter (Best on Budget)

6: Amerteer Finger Ring Presenter (Best Ring Presenter)

7: NINJAABXY Wireless Clicker (Best Ergonomic Design)

This list was last updated on July 2nd, 2024.

1. Logitech R800 (Best Overall)

The Logitech R800 is the perfect choice for professionals who can’t stand anything less than perfection.

The best highlight of this presenter? An excellent battery life. It works on two AAA batteries that will give you a 20-hour lifetime in laser light mode😍

And in simple presentation mode, the battery life goes up to 1050 hours. No meeting lasts longer than that.

Plus, the LCD screen allows users to track the battery life. So you are well informed about the battery life, and there’s no guessing game.

Specifications in the version we reviewed

  • Laser Light: Green laser light
  • Connectivity: Plug-and-play USB Receiver
  • Battery: 2 AAA batteries
  • Control Range: 100 Feet (30 meters)
  • Special feature: LCD Display with track of time and battery

Score on review parameters

  • Laser Pointer: Green laser light is a big plus as it never fails (not even in well-lit rooms).
  • Battery Type: Two replaceable AAA batteries give you an excellent battery life of 20 to 1050 hours.
  • Control Range: A 100-feet control range. This means you can roam around your conference room (and even in a nearby garden) freely. The clicker will still work. And if you get a little too away, the reception indicator will beep to bring you back in the control range.
  • User Friendliness: Plug and play means just connecting the USB receiver to any Windows PC, and that’s it. No complicated setups. When done, unplug the USB receiver and store it inside the actual clicker.
  • LCD Screen: Here’s an additional feature that we would love to highlight. The LCD on top of the presenter allows you to track the time, the battery, and wireless reception. Get silent or vibration alerts when the battery goes low.
  • Value-for-Money: For $78 and all these modern features, we won’t call it exorbitant. But yes, slightly overpriced.

Overall Spreadsheeto Rating: 💚💚💚💚💚💚 (6/6)

This, in my view, is the best choice for professionals. With live information on the LCD screen, there’s no chance of running out of battery or range.

2. Kensington Wireless Presenter K33272WW (Best Basic)

If you need a basic PowerPoint clicker that’s reliable and easy to use, look no further. This wireless presenter from Kensington will take care of it all.

With a four-intuitive-button design, it is very user-friendly. You need not wrap your head around a complicated design with lots of buttons and unnecessary functions😏

It’s simple, very durable, and ergonomically built to fit your hands.

It offers AES 28-bit encryption (also adopted by the US Govt. as the encryption standard). This makes it safe and secure against any hacking attempts.

  • Laser Light: Red
  • Battery : External battery
  • Control Range: 65 Feet
  • Special feature: AES 128-bit encryption (secure wireless technology)
  • Price : $38
  • Laser Pointer: A red pointer laser light is great for a basic presenter.
  • Battery Type: Replaceable battery goes a long way.
  • Control Range: A Plug-and-play 2.4GHz and 65 feet control range are pretty good even if you have a large-sized auditorium to address.
  • User Friendliness: An intuitive design of four buttons to move between slides, hide the screen and use the laser light makes it very user-friendly.
  • Value-for-Money: If you’re focused on reliability and longevity – a basic design for $38 might bring great value for you. But considering the only very basic features offered by it, we don’t score it great in this aspect.

Overall Spreadsheeto Rating: 💚💚💚💚💚🤍 (5/6)

Although the Kensington K33272WW provides an internal compartment for storing the USB receiver, it’s inside the battery cover. You might find it difficult to detach the battery cover to store the USB receiver every time. Other clicker models have a more convenient style for USB receiver storage.

3. Kensington K72426AMA (Best Cursor Control)

Which is the second best PowerPoint clicker on this list? The Kensington K72426AMA.

Why? The list of reasons is a little long✌

But the best part is the joystick in it that gives you cursor control. This PowerPoint clicker from Kensington is almost a portable mouse.

Other clickers would allow you to move between slides, but what if you want to click something on the slide (like a hyperlink)? Would you rush back to your PC to use the mouse? That’s no longer needed.

Use this clicker to launch any file or click anywhere with its joystick.

Wireless presenter with bright green laser pointer and cursor control for presentations.

  • Laser Light: Green laser
  • Connectivity : Plug-and-play USB / MicroSD Card
  • Control Range: 150 Feet (50 meters)
  • Compatibility : Windows & Mac OS X (Keynote and PowerPoint)
  • Special feature: Cursor control mode (Joystick helps using it as a mouse)
  • Price : $45
  • Laser Pointer: Green laser light which is 10X brighter than ordinary red laser pointers. Also, if you think red is a little too harsh to use on-screen, go green.
  • Battery Type: Replaceable battery.

Knowing about the best presentation clickers is half of the information you need to purchase one. There are a few factors which you must bear in mind while choosing a suitable presentation remote. Below are some criteria that need to be considered when purchasing one.

How To Choose The Right Presentation Clicker?

The wireless control range offered by presentation remotes differ based on their model and make. When choosing a presentation clicker, it is crucial to gauge the room’s size in which the wireless presenter will be used. Some presenters usually have a connectivity range of 30 to 50 ft, while others have longer ranges of 100 to 300 ft.

  • Battery type

Presenter remotes rely on either AA or AAA batteries. Some require 2-batteries, while others are more power-efficient and require a single battery. Certain presenter remotes come with rechargeable batteries that last for prolonged periods on a single charge. In situations of continuous usage, you should purchase one with rechargeable batteries.

  • Compatibility

There are 2 factors to consider regarding wireless presentation remote compatibility – compatibility with the software and compatibility with the operating system. Most models are plug-and-play devices that require no added software installation. It is best to purchase one that requires no additional drivers.

  • Laser pointer

Almost all presenters are equipped with laser pointers. This is because it has become an indispensable part of a wireless presentation remote. When choosing a presenter remote, it is ideal to keep in mind the distance of the laser or beam.  The most common colors are green and red. While red remains to be a popular choice among consumers, green is a color that is noticeable on almost all colored slides.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Will my presentation clicker work on a Mac and a TV?

While most are compatible with Windows and macOS, there are a few that may not work on macOS. Since a television screen is just a display output, if it is supported by the system software, it will run on a TV.

2. What color laser is best for a presentation pointer?

The two most popular colors are green and red. While red offers great visibility, a green laser pointer can be easier to see against some slides. This is why most professionals prefer using a remote clicker with a green laser pointer.

3. Isn’t it easier to download an app to my phone to control the presentation?

No, it isn’t. While it may seem like an easier and cost-saving alternative, it may not function as intended. Firstly, your phone will lack the tactile feel of dedicated buttons, and secondly, it may not function effectively when at a distance from the receiver.

4. Is it easy to control a presentation with a remote?

Yes, a presentation remote makes it easy to operate and control the slides in a presentation. In addition, using a remote doesn’t require you to ask for external help or stay near the laptop to change the slides.

5. Does a presentation remote need batteries?

Yes, most presentation remotes work on two AAA batteries, and some include a rechargeable battery for seamless operation.

6. Are laser pointers good for presentations?

Laser pointers help you point out important points on the slides during the presentation. This allows you to move around as you speak and helps the audience focus on that particular point you are talking about.

1. Fire an AK-47

Fire an AK

Izhevsk is the city where Mikhail Kalashnikov, the designer of the most popular assault rifle in the world, the AK-47, lived and worked. The museum carrying his name is situated in the very center of Izhevsk near Krasnaya [Red] Square. The museum's collection has more than a hundred types and models of the AK-47  (the AK stands for Avtomat Kalashnikova - Kalashnikov's Automatic) but at the very least it is worth a visit for its shooting gallery. Here anyone can fire a rifle, automatic weapon or pistol provided they have two IDs (for instance, passport and driving license) on them and about $17.

2. Play Pyotr Tchaikovsky's grand piano

Wirth grand piano on which little Pyotr used to play.

Wirth grand piano on which little Pyotr used to play.

Pyotr Tchaikovsky's family estate is situated 30 miles northeast of Izhevsk, in the small Urals town of Votkinsk. Here the future composer of "Swan Lake" and "The Nutcracker" spent the first eight years of his life and composed his earliest works.

Today it combines a modern multimedia museum and a historical reconstruction of life in the 19th century. The best time to visit is in the summer. But you can listen to a symphony orchestra, go on a night quest around the estate and taste pancakes with herbal tea and "tsar's jam" made from Urals grapes at any time.

The most precious exhibit here is the German-made Wirth grand piano on which little Pyotr used to play. Every year in March admirers of the composer and musicians from all over the world come to a Tchaikovsky festival in Votkinsk. The keenest guests are allowed to play on the grand piano, so you can try your luck.

3. Taste Udmurt cuisine

Taste Udmurt cuisine

Taste Udmurt cuisine

Udmurt national cuisine abounds with baked dishes, exotic names and homemade infusions. Perepecha (a sort of Udmurt version of pizza), tabani (thin flat dough cakes), kystyby (another Udmurt flat cake) with caviar and eggs, and dumplings with sauerkraut - you should try all of them without delay! But be careful with alcoholic infusions: They are treacherous and not to everyone's taste. But you have no chance of getting away without trying peshchatem (a hot drink based on home-distilled alcohol, herbal tea and honey) with which guests are usually greeted.

You can try all these recipes at the Bobrovaya Dolina ethnic center at 4, Sverdlov Street. There you will also find examples of Udmurt design and Udmurt steam baths. Or you can go to the Khokhloma restaurant , which offers a menu of Russian and Udmurt dishes.

4. Visit the village where the Buranovo Grannies live

The singing group

The singing group "Buranovskiye Babushki"

After the hitherto little known grandmothers from the village of Buranovo (20 miles south of Izhevsk) took part in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2012 and won the hearts of millions of people with their explosive song "Party for Everybody", hordes of tourists rushed to their native village. Now it is one of Udmurtia's main attractions. The most interesting thing in Buranovo is of course the grannies themselves - the members of a folklore group are always happy to see anyone who wants to talk to them. Ask anyone how to find the grannies and they will help you since the village has only 640 inhabitants. Or come on their day, May 26.

In addition, Buranovo is a good place for ecotourism, where you can immerse yourself in rural life or go horse riding.

5. Go to an ethnic festival

Byg-Byg festival

Byg-Byg festival

Fortunately, there are so many of them in Udmurtia that, whenever you come here, there will be a festival of something somewhere nearby. In November, the republic's government unveiled a Calendar of Event Tourism listing all the events of the year. Would you like a gastronomic tour of Finno-Ugric cuisine? Then the Byg-Byg festival (Staryye Bygi village, 5 July) is for you. To see Udmurt culture, beautiful countryside and items of folklore, go to the Gerber festival (Pekshur village, 16 June). And, to take another example, the Rus Druzhinnaya festival (Kudrino village, in July) is about how in old Russia they not only fought in wars but also put on battle professionally for entertainment. Enjoy two days in a tent camp with a field kitchen, re-enactments and, of course, doing battle "Slav style".

Votkinsk, like its neighbour Izhevsk, was founded in the mid-18th century as the location of an ironworks. It remains an industrial city today, but its main claim to fame now is the fact that Russia’s most famous composer Pyotr Tchaikovsky was born in the city at an estate granted to his father as director of the Votkinsk Ironworks. The city can be easily reached by bus from Votkinsk.
