How to Give a Presentation

Giving a presentation terrifies most of us, especially when talking before a crowd of people about an unfamiliar topic. Never fear! There are ways to make a good presentation. The more presentations you do, the easier they will become!

Preparing For the Presentation

Step 1 Focus your presentation.

  • It's best to have 1 main thesis statement or overarching theme and 3 main points that back-up or flesh-out your main theme. Any more than that and your audience is going to start losing interest. This means that any facts and information that are a part of your presentation should back up these 3 main points and overarching theme.
  • For example: If you're giving a presentation about 17th century alchemy, bringing up the history of alchemy is fine (and probably necessary), but don't mire your audience in its history instead of focusing alchemy in the 17th century. Your 3 points could be something like "alchemy in public opinion," "famous 17th century alchemists," and "the legacy of 17th century alchemy."

Step 2 Less is more.

  • Pick your very best supporting facts, information, or quotes for your presentation. Don't bury your audience in information.

Step 3 Decide whether to use media or not.

  • Make sure you're using media to enhance your presentation and not to drown it out. The presentation is key. Anything else is just accessorizing.
  • For example: to get back to 17th century alchemy, to back up your information about alchemy in the public opinion, you might want to show images from public pamphlets about the dangers of alchemy and see what people of the time period had to say about it and see what the more famous alchemists had to say about it.
  • Also, you want to make sure that you pick a medium that you are comfortable in and thorough in knowledge. If you don't know a thing about PowerPoint, maybe consider writing your main points on a white board, or passing out handouts with your main points and evidence on them. [3] X Research source

Step 4 Practice.

  • A good tip is to film yourself or audiotape of yourself giving your practice presentation so you can see what distracting verbal and physical tics you have, so that you can work on eliminating them before the presentation itself. (Verbs tics would be things like "um..." and "uh..." and using "like" inappropriately; physical tics are things like shifting your weight from foot to foot or messing with your hair.) To stop yourself from saying "um" or other unwanted tics, be aware you're doing it first, then speak more slowly and deliberately. Breathe deeply and feel free to pause and appreciate the silence. These will all help you to have mastery over your tics.
  • Just remember that rehearsals usually run about 20% shorter than your actual presentation, so take that into account if you're running on a time limit.

Step 5 Visualize success.

  • For example, if you aren't comfortable wearing heels, don't wear them just for the presentation. You'll be distracted by your discomfort and that will come across in the presentation. There are plenty of good shoe choices that have no or a low heel.
  • Clean, nice slacks or a skirt and nice, button-down shirt in neutral colors are always good choices for presentation wear. You also don't particularly want your clothing choice to distract from the presentation, so perhaps avoid that brilliant hot pink shirt.

Giving the Presentation

Step 1 Deal with the jitters.

  • Before the presentation, clench and unclench your hands several times to deal with the adrenaline and then take 3 deep, slow breaths.
  • Call up a smile, even if you feel like hurling. You can trick your brain into thinking that you're less anxious than you actually are and you'll also be able to hide your nervousness from your audience.

Step 2 Engage the audience.

  • Make eye contact with your audience. Don't stare at one particular person, but section up the room and make eye contact with someone in each section on a rotational basis.
  • Have a big, welcoming smile on your face, with lots of energy, so you start out from a strong and engaging place.
  • Ask questions of your audience and take questions during your presentation. This will make it more of a conversation and therefore more interesting.
  • Tell an amusing anecdote to illustrate your point. From the above examples about 17th century alchemy, you could find an amusing alchemical anecdote from the time period, or you could talk about your own forays into alchemy.

Step 3 Give an engaging performance.

  • Move around, but make your movements deliberate. Don't nervously shift your feet (in fact, it's a good idea to imagine that your feet are nailed to the floor except for those times you deliberately choose to move).
  • Use your vocal inflections to create a more dynamic presentation. Vary your voice as you're talking. Nobody ( ever ) wants to sit there and listen to someone drone on and on in dull monotone, no matter how interesting the material (think Professor Binns from Harry Potter; that's what you don't want).
  • Try to create a balance between rehearsed and spontaneous. Spontaneous, on the spot, movement and asides can be great as long as you are really comfortable, otherwise they can sidetrack your presentation and make it rambling. Mess around with spontaneous and rehearsed when you're practicing and you'll get a feel for it.

Step 4 Treat your presentation as a story.

  • Quickly introduce your topic and don't assume that your audience is familiar with all the terms, especially if your topic is one that isn't widely known.
  • Figuring out why you want (or have to) give this presentation will help you work with an overarching story/theme. Maybe you want to pass the class. Maybe you're convincing people to give you money or join you in a philanthropic endeavor or act for a social or political reason. Channel that desire into your presentation. You're answering the question of why they would want to pass you or why they would want to fund you. That's the story you're telling.

Step 5 Talk more slowly.

  • Make use of pauses, and learn to be comfortable with silences. Silence can be a powerful presentation tool and gives you a chance to take a moment to recompose. By taking pauses, you can slow down your breathing and be more deliberate in your speech, avoiding speaking too quickly.
  • Have water with you and take a sip when you feel you're going too fast.
  • If you have a friend in the class or meeting, arrange with them beforehand that they will let you know with a signal whether you're talking too quickly. Look over their way occasionally and check your progress.
  • If you find that you're running out of time and you haven't finished, simply drop or summarize your leftover material. Acknowledge the leftover material as something that can be discussed later or in the Q&A.

Step 6 Have a killer closing.

  • Make it clear what the listeners now know and why it is important that they have this new information.
  • Conclude with examples or stories about your main point and take home message. You might want a slide which summarizes your presentation. For example, you might conclude with a story about the nature of alchemy in the modern era (perhaps in a film) to show its malleable nature.

Begin with a strong hook that grabs your audience's attention. This could be an intriguing statistic, a powerful image , or an engaging question. It should stir curiosity and make your audience eager to hear more.

B) Establish relevance:

Once you have their attention it's time to establish why your presentation matters to your audience.

Address your audience's main concerns. Make sure your content directly speaks to these pain points, and address them in order of importance.

2. Build anticipation

A great presentation is like getting a new car – it builds anticipation, takes you on a thrilling ride, and ends with you wanting to share the experience with all your friends.

Start with a compelling problem your audience relates to and follow up with a promise of an amazing way they can solve it. This problem-solution dynamic creates a suspense that keeps your audience glued to your presentation.

3. Use a story framework

Finally, use a story framework to give your presentation structure and flow.

Begin with a big idea that underpins your presentation. Then delve into the problem, showcasing why it needs attention. Present your solution, painting a vision of a better future for your audience.

Tell the story of WHO you helped, WHAT the situation was before and after your solution, WHERE and WHEN it happened, WHY it worked and HOW it made them feel.

Based on my own experience from the stage, and from observing other speakers at industry-leading conferences, I’ve collected these 18 top tips. May they help you give a presentation that will wow your audience:

Live polling is your best bet here. When smartly used, live polls will keep your attendees engaged during the whole length of your presentation. They also help you to effectively collect your audience’s insights, which you can then showcase on screen. This multiplies the learning element of your presentation.

In general, I follow the human attention span and use a poll every 8-10 minutes, which is 5-6 polls for a 60-minute talk, maximum.

To give you an example, during the latest webinar I led, I asked the participants a simple rating poll: “How would you rate interaction in the classroom today?”

The results set a good ground for the main argument I was going to make about insufficient interactivity in education, and really helped me make my point.

On top of that, this strategy allows me to break the long content deliveries into more digestible chunks, regain the audience’s attention, and ignite conversations based on the results.

The last point is particularly important. Live polls make sense only when you facilitate their use. So make sure to always follow up on the results, share your thoughts on them, or get the audience to share why they voted the way they did.

10. Move around the stage and make gestures

If you stand rigidly in one spot or behind a speaker’s stand, you will only appear unconfident and nervous. Think of yourself as an actor on stage, and your presentation as your performance. Use open, big gestures, point in the direction of the audience, or slowly walk about the stage. 

At this year’s Festival of Marketing , Mark Ritson – who was opening the event – reminded me of the importance of using body language. He kept pacing the stage in a natural way and was gesturing throughout the entire length of his speech. It was definitely one of the most engaging sessions I’ve attended this year.

11. Smile and make eye contact

The way you communicate with your audience through your facial expressions makes a huge difference. So don’t look down at your notes, don’t look at your slides, but keep your eyes set on your audience.

Lisa Wentz, a public speaking expert, advises to pick 3 people in the audience that you like, each one at a different corner of the auditorium, and make eye contact with them throughout your presentation. However, avoid staring at one person for too long. Use the selected people only as navigation points that will help you scan the room.

12. Consider using props

Demonstrating the point with the use of props is a powerful way to help the attendees visualize what is being described verbally. Showing a prop at the right moment can help you catch your audience’s attention and enforce your story.

Neuroscientist Jill Bolte Taylor brought a real human brain on stage during her emotional TED talk to explain what had happened to her when she had a stroke. She touched the audience with this demonstration and left them in complete awe.

13. Go among the audience

Asking people questions may feel impersonal if you stand onstage. On top of that, large auditoriums often make it difficult to create intimacy with your audience.

Draw inspiration from rock singers here and “jump” off the stage. Going among the audience will help you build a stronger bond with them and your presentation will feel more personal.

This approach is invaluable if you hope to collect impromptu answers after you have asked your question. Move slowly around the room, and when someone shuffles or raises a hand, approach them with a mic and elicit an answer.

When another hand shoots up, move to that corner of the room, and so on. The point here is to be as close to your audience as possible.

If possible, check the room advance to get used to the space arrangements. This will help you move around more naturally and with more confidence.

14. Give rewards for participation

Despite all your efforts, the audience might need a bit of a nudge. Giving out small rewards can bring another interactive element to your presentation. You can go with the event merchandise or small treats, like chocolates and candy.

For example, at the Eventex conference , one of the speakers, Victor Neyndorff , encouraged people to share their thoughts by handing out chocolate from the Netherlands, his home country.

To give you another idea, at the Jam London conference , the organizers decided to give away books to those attendees who were the most active in asking questions via Slido. This really helped incentivize the audience to participate and improved the dialogue in the room.

15. Prompt a discussion in the audience

You can give audience engagement another spin by giving your attendees an activity that they can participate in.

For example, you can present a statement for the participants to discuss, or give them a task to solve in groups. Where appropriate, walk around the room, join the conversations, and encourage people to talk to each other.

At the Conventa Crossover conference in Slovenia, moderator Jan-Jaap In der Maur put people in small groups and asked them to share the technological trends that they believed will have the biggest impact on the industry in the near future.

Then he collected a few comments from the floor to open a discussion with the whole room.

Simple. Engaging. Useful.

If facilitated properly, activities like these can work equally well with an audience of 20 people as they can with 2,000.

16. Build in time for the Q&A

Even if you incorporate interactive elements to your presentation, your audience will surely have additional questions.

For that reason, don’t be scared to allocate as much as 10-20 minutes to the Q&A, depending on the length of your presentation slot.

After I finish my talk, instead of asking, “Are there any questions?” (which typically leads to silence), I like to ask, “What are your questions?”, or say, “Now, let’s get to your questions.” In case I don’t get an instant reaction from the audience, I get off the stage and walk among the audience to encourage the discussion.

In rare moments when no questions come up, I kick off the Q&A by saying: “What people usually ask me is…” and then give an answer. In 9/10 times, the discussion catches on.

17. Crowdsource questions from the audience

Lack of audience questions doesn’t necessarily mean that your audience doesn’t have questions. They may just be uncomfortable with speaking up in public.

Live Q&A tools like Slido allow you to effortlessly crowdsource questions from your audience throughout your presentation via an app. 

Compared to passing the mic amongst the people in the audience, you will give everyone an equal chance to ask questions, regardless of their level of shyness.

If you’re using a Q&A app, it’s important that you introduce and facilitate it properly. I often say something like: “Take a minute and think about what you’ve just heard. Come up with a question that you have, and submit it to Slido.” It works every single time.

Then, just take a look at the screen, or a confidence monitor, and address the questions that have the most upvotes.

If you display the crowdsourced questions on the screen, read each question out loud when addressing it. It will help your audience – even the ones sitting at the back – to know which question you are answering.

18. Gather feedback

Feedback is priceless for improving your presentation skills. There’s never enough of it. You can collect feedback easily via Slido feedback survey . Combine rating polls for quick assessment and open text polls to give your participants space for more in-depth comments.

Your feedback survey could look something like this:

  • How would you rate this presentation? (rating poll)
  • What is your main takeaway from this session? (open text poll)
  • What would you improve? (open text poll)

To boost the response rate, make sure that you ask your attendees to fill out the survey while they’re still in the room.

With the tips I’ve listed above, you’ll be able to turn your presentation or lecture from a one-way content broadcast into an exciting conversation between you and your attendees.

To ground yourself, stand with your feet shoulder-width apart and imagine you’re a large, mature tree with roots extending deep into the earth—like the tree, you can become unshakable.

Visual aids and other technical support can transform an otherwise good presentation into a wow-worthy one. A few popular presentation tools include:

The more you practice, the better you’ll become. The more you do anything, the more comfortable you’ll feel engaging in that activity. Presentations are no different. Repeatedly practising your own presentation also offers the opportunity to get feedback from other people and tweak your style and content as needed.

Tips to help you ace your presentation

Your presentation isn’t about you but the material you’re presenting. Sometimes, reminding yourself of this ahead of taking centre stage can help take you out of your head and allow you to connect effectively with your audience. The following are many actions you can take on the day of your presentation.

Arrive early.

Since you may have a bit of presentation-related anxiety, it’s important to avoid adding travel stress. Give yourself ample time to arrive at your destination, and consider heavy traffic and other unforeseen events. By arriving early, you also give yourself time to meet with any on-site technicians, test your equipment, and connect with people ahead of the presentation.

Become familiar with the layout of the room.

Arriving early also allows you to assess the room and determine where you want to stand. Experiment with the acoustics to determine how loudly you need to project your voice and test your equipment to make sure everything connects and appears properly with the available setup. This is an excellent opportunity to work out any last-minute concerns and move around to familiarise yourself with the setting for improved stage presence.

Listen to the presenters ahead of you.

When you watch others present, you'll get a feel for the room's acoustics and lighting. You can also listen for any relevant data and revisit it during your presentation—this can make the presentation more interactive and engaging.

Use note cards.

Writing yourself a script could provide you with more comfort. To prevent sounding too robotic or disengaged, only include talking points in your note cards if you get off track. Using note cards can help keep your presentation organised while sounding more authentic to your audience.

Slideshows are an intuitive way to share complex ideas with an audience, although they're dull and frustrating when poorly executed. Here are some tips to make your Microsoft PowerPoint presentations sing while avoiding common pitfalls.

define a goal

It all starts with identifying what we're trying to achieve with the presentation. Is it informative, a showcase of data in an easy-to-understand medium? Or is it more of a pitch, something meant to persuade and convince an audience and lead them to a particular outcome?

It's here where the majority of these presentations go wrong with the inability to identify the talking points that best support our goal. Always start with a goal in mind: to entertain, to inform, or to share data in a way that's easy to understand. Use facts, figures, and images to support your conclusion while keeping structure in mind (Where are we now and where are we going?).

I've found that it's helpful to start with the ending. Once I know how to end a presentation, I know how best to get to that point. I start by identifying the takeaway---that one nugget that I want to implant before thanking everyone for their time---and I work in reverse to figure out how best to get there.

Your mileage, of course, may vary. But it's always going to be a good idea to put in the time in the beginning stages so that you aren't reworking large portions of the presentation later. And that starts with a defined goal.

avoid walls of text

A slideshow isn't supposed to include everything. It's an introduction to a topic, one that we can elaborate on with speech. Anything unnecessary is a distraction. It makes the presentation less visually appealing and less interesting, and it makes you look bad as a presenter.

This goes for text as well as images. There's nothing worse, in fact, than a series of slides where the presenter just reads them as they appear. Your audience is capable of reading, and chances are they'll be done with the slide, and browsing Reddit, long before you finish. Avoid putting the literal text on the screen, and your audience will thank you.

use better fonts

Right off the bat, we're just going to come out and say that Papyrus and Comic Sans should be banned from all PowerPoint presentations, permanently. Beyond that, it's worth considering the typeface you're using and what it's saying about you, the presenter, and the presentation itself.

Consider choosing readability over aesthetics, and avoid fancy fonts that could prove to be more of a distraction than anything else. A good presentation needs two fonts: a serif and sans-serif. Use one for the headlines and one for body text, lists, and the like. Keep it simple. Veranda, Helvetica, Arial, and even Times New Roman are safe choices. Stick with the classics and it's hard to botch this one too badly.

use fewer bullets

There reaches a point where bullet points become less of a visual aid and more of a visual examination.

Bullet points should support the speaker, not overwhelm his audience. The best slides have little or no text at all, in fact. As a presenter, it's our job to talk through complex issues, but that doesn't mean that we need to highlight every talking point.

Instead, think about how you can break up large lists into three or four bullet points. Carefully consider whether you need to use more bullet points, or if you can combine multiple topics into a single point instead. And if you can't, remember that there's no one limiting the number of slides you can have in a presentation. It's always possible to break a list of 12 points down into three pages of four points each.

avoid transitions

Animation, when used correctly, is a good idea. It breaks up slow-moving parts of a presentation and adds action to elements that require it. But it should be used judiciously.

Adding a transition that wipes left to right between every slide or that animates each bullet point in a list, for example, starts to grow taxing on those forced to endure the presentation. Viewers get bored quickly, and animations that are meant to highlight specific elements quickly become taxing.

That's not to say that you can't use animations and transitions, just that you need to pick your spots. Aim for no more than a handful of these transitions for each presentation. And use them in spots where they'll add to the demonstration, not detract from it.

use visuals

Sometimes images tell a better story than text can. And as a presenter, your goal is to describe points in detail without making users do a lot of reading. In these cases, a well-designed visual, like a chart, might better convey the information you're trying to share.

The right image adds visual appeal and serves to break up longer, text-heavy sections of the presentation---but only if you're using the right images. A single high-quality image can make all the difference between a success and a dud when you're driving a specific point home.

When considering text, don't think solely in terms of bullet points and paragraphs. Tables, for example, are often unnecessary. Ask yourself whether you could present the same data in a bar or line chart instead.

find a color palette

Color is interesting. It evokes certain feelings and adds visual appeal to your presentation as a whole. Studies show that color also improves interest, comprehension, and retention. It should be a careful consideration, not an afterthought.

You don't have to be a graphic designer to use color well in a presentation. What I do is look for palettes I like, and then find ways to use them in the presentation. There are a number of tools for this, like Adobe Color , Coolors , and ColorHunt , just to name a few. After finding a palette you enjoy, consider how it works with the presentation you're about to give. Pastels, for example, evoke feelings of freedom and light, so they probably aren't the best choice when you're presenting quarterly earnings that missed the mark.

It's also worth mentioning that you don't need to use every color in the palette. Often, you can get by with just two or three, though you should really think through how they all work together and how readable they'll be when layered. A simple rule of thumb here is that contrast is your friend. Dark colors work well on light backgrounds, and light colors work best on dark backgrounds.

change views

Spend some time in the Slide Sorter before you finish your presentation. By clicking the four squares at the bottom left of the presentation, you can take a look at multiple slides at once and consider how each works together. Alternatively, you can click "View" on the ribbon and select "Slide Sorter."

Are you presenting too much text at once? Move an image in. Could a series of slides benefit from a chart or summary before you move on to another point?

It's here that we have the opportunity to view the presentation from beyond the single-slide viewpoint and think in terms of how each slide fits, or if it fits at all. From this view, you can rearrange slides, add additional ones, or delete them entirely if you find that they don't advance the presentation.

The difference between a good presentation and a bad one is really all about preparation and execution. Those that respect the process and plan carefully---not only the presentation as a whole, but each slide within it---are the ones who will succeed.

This brings me to my last (half) point: When in doubt, just buy a template and use it. You can find these all over the web, though Creative Market and GraphicRiver are probably the two most popular marketplaces for this kind of thing. Not all of us are blessed with the skills needed to design and deliver an effective presentation. And while a pre-made PowerPoint template isn't going to make you a better presenter, it will ease the anxiety of creating a visually appealing slide deck.

Darke to give soil, water presentation.

WINTERSVILLE — When Rick Darke takes the stage inside the auditorium at Indian Creek High School on Thursday evening, he will be talking about how parts of our area look now while offering a vision of what they can become.

A landscape ethicist, author and photographer, Darke’s 7 p.m. appearance will come at the end of a three-day visit to the area. He said he will spend Tuesday and Wednesday examining and documenting parts of the county and then incorporate those observations and photographs — including images from a drone — into his presentation, “Celebrating the Strength and Resilience of America’s Living Landscapes.”

“My tact lecturing for decades has been to get up-to-the-minute photos that integrate time, places and community,” he explained.

He’ll be looking at several different areas of land controlled by the Jefferson Soil and Water Conservation District, which is bringing Darke to the area and sponsoring Thursday’s presentation. There is no charge to attend.

“Soil and water has several properties that we are working to develop,” explained Aaron Dodds, project manager for the district. “We want to make sure they are cutting-edge properties that will attract people to the area. We were looking at people who had developed similar projects, and he was one of the designers we had a focus on.”

Darke has been helping to transform areas for more than a quarter of a century. He said he enjoys looking for ways to incorporate an area’s industrial past with modern landscapes. He’ll be offering a different perspective on the sustainable landscapes people see around them every day, according to a synopsis provided by the district, as well as using his experience to show how parts of the district’s property can be transformed into recreation and learning spaces.

There are a couple of examples in our region of the impact the Landenberg, Pa.-based Darke has made — those include the Carrie Blast Furnaces National Historic Landmark in the Pittsburgh suburb of Swissvale, and the land around Fallingwater, the iconic house architect Frank Lloyd Wright built for Edgar Kaufmann in the Laurel Highlands of Western Pennsylvania.

Carrie furnaces Nos. 6 and 7 once were part of the U.S. Steel Homestead Works. They are the only two non-operative blast furnaces left in the region, according to the Rivers of Steel National Heritage Area.

“When I’m talking about what’s possible, I’m talking from first-hand evaluations,” Darke said. “The goal of this project — like the furnace project — is making a lot with a little and being efficient with our resources, the time of the people who are working on it and the volunteers. We want to keep it authentic and grounded.”

In total, Dodds explained, soil and water has about 575 acres to work with in the Piney Fork and Quaker Ridge areas as well as its hellbender preserve, and is looking to open up public access to about half of it. The work will start in the area of the old mining town of Piney Fork and will include a five-mile trail and redevelopment of the railyard into a park setting.

Funding for those projects had been included in the conservation district’s Appalachian Community Grant application. The program, which distributed $500 million across the 32 counties in Ohio that lay in the Appalachian region, largely bypassed our area, with only Adena receiving $4.5 million for streetscape and building renovation work.

While missing out on that money was disappointing, Dodds said the district is pushing forward with its plans to develop those areas.

“Just because we were not successful in getting the grant funding doesn’t mean we have stopped working,” Dodds said. “Rick’s presentation will capture some of the things we are developing. It will show how we can contribute to our property, and will show things other municipalities can do and that homeowners can bring to their own backyards.”

Darke, who will be making his second trip to the area, said he enjoys working with the conservation district.

“Aaron and Wendee (Dodds, the district’s natural resource specialist and operations manager) and everyone at the district have a good aesthetic and design sense, and they really want to do something for the community. They are community projects — they are making life better for everyone in the area.”

Part of what he will be looking for are the ways what’s left of the railroad — the meeting points where lines cross each other, known as frogs, or common crossings, for example — can be incorporated into the work.

“Those common crossings can be a place where people from around the community can come together,” Darke added.

Developing those properties and opening up more area for outdoor recreation is important for the region to grow, Dodds said, and will offer new opportunities for people to explore parts of the area that hold a rich history.

“One of the things, especially in government, that you hear all of the time is that there’s nothing for people to do here in the county,” he said. “Quality of life is very critical to retaining and attracting people to the area. The natural beauty of our area is unparalleled — it is gorgeous.”

Completing projects in the district’s nearly 600 acres will make that beauty accessible — and encourage people to explore the outdoors.

“It’s really about getting some of these kids less screen time and more green time where they can experience nature and all of its glory,” Dodds added. “If you’re walking along a creek and see a kingfisher, and then a bald eagle flies over and a box turtle crosses in front of you, it’s a lifetime memory.”

You now have a great starting point. From here, You’ll need to add design elements and media, plus adjust the layout and content to enhance visual appeal.

2. Use ChatGPT to create a PowerPoint using VBA codes

By using ChatGPT to provide VBA code, you can streamline the process of creating presentations. But before we start, let's answer this question:

What is VBA?

VBA, or Visual Basic for Applications, is a programming language that automates tasks in Microsoft Office apps like PowerPoint. By using ChatGPT, you can quickly generate VBA code to create and customize PowerPoint presentations, making the process faster and easier.

Step 1: Ask ChatgPT for the VBA PowerPoint code

You can use a ChatGPT prompt like "Write me VBA PowerPoint codes on [topic]..." However, the more detailed your explanation of the content, the better the result will be. Here’s an example:

Write me a VBA code for a PowerPoint presentation on [list of topics] for [target audience]. As an expert in [field/topic], structure it to fit [number] slides with a [tone/style] tone. The objective is [state the objective].

Then, ChatGPT will provide an output like this:

Step 2: Open PowerPoint and copy the VBA code

  • Open PowerPoint and press ALT + F11 to open the VBA editor.
  • Go to Insert > Module to create a new module.

Of course, we will need to add images and media. If needed, you can ask ChatGPT for more information and repeat this process to generate a new VBA code.

3. Use ChatGPT AIPRM Extension to create a PowerPoint

This is one of the easiest methods to simplify your PowerPoint creation process. There's no need for any ChatGPT prompts. But first, let's answer this question:

What is AIRPRM?

AIPRM is an extension designed to enhance ChatGPT's capabilities for creating and refining content, including PowerPoint presentations. 

This AI tool provides pre-made ChatGPT prompt templates to streamline your PowerPoint creation process. With AIPRM, users get automated suggestions, better formatting, and tailored content within the ChatGPT interface.

Using AIPRM Extension for PowerPoint

  • Step 1: Open your browser and search for "AIPRM ChatGPT prompts." You can use this link .
  • Step 2: Download and install the AIPRM extension.
  • Step 3: Log in to your ChatGPT account.

Once the extension is installed, your ChatGPT interface will have new options and templates. Here’s an example:

  • Step 4: Type “PowerPoint” in the search bar. This will give you a list of AIRPRM ChatGPT prompts for PowerPoint.

  • Step 5: Select a prompt and click on it. It will appear in the chat bar.

  • Step 6: Follow the format. Add the presentation topic and VBA instruction. In this prompt, the format is as follows: PowerPoint, Slides, VBA.

For this example, I will use Digital Marketing, 10, VBA.

  • Step 7: Hit Enter. ChatGPT will generate a VBA code as in the previous method (#2).

After ChatGPT generates the VBA codes, paste the code into the Visual Basic Editor in PowerPoint. Next, run the code to generate the slides. To do this, follow the steps in the previous method (#2). 

Here’s a summary:

  • Open PowerPoint.
  • Press Alt + F11 to open the VBA editor.
  • Insert a new module by clicking Insert > Module.
  • Press F5 to run the macro and create the presentation.

  • First, you need a strong prompt. To ensure accuracy, I’ll reuse the prompt from method #1

  • Once you have the outline, you can refine and expand the content for each slide. The aim is to help ChatGPT generate the best results.

Use a ChatGPT prompt like this to improve the initial output:

"Please expand the information for each slide. Include interesting facts to enhance engagement and provide more value." 

Step 4. Copy and paste the ChatGPT output into the AI tool

Since we're using Gamma for this example, here's what we'll do:

  • In Gamma, choose “ Paste in text .” You already have the outline from ChatGPT.
  • Copy and paste the ChatGPT prompt and click “ Continue .”
  • Set the number of “ Cards ” to match your slides.
  • Click “ Continue ”.

Step 5. Generate and Refine Your PowerPoint Presentation

  • Select your favorite theme and click “ Generate .”
  • Wait a moment while Gamma AI generates the presentation.
  • Review the slides and refine the content.

You have a strong starting point. Enhance the visual appeal by adding media, adjusting the layout, and refining the content.

  • Use Specific Prompts: The more detailed your prompt, the better the result will be. You should clearly mention the topic, audience, objective, and the number of slides. This will keep the content relevant.
  • Understand ChatGPT’s Capabilities: ChatGPT excels at generating content but doesn't create visuals or handle design elements. Since Chat GPT doesn't have a presentation maker, you'll need to complement its outputs.
  • Review the Content: Always review and edit the generated content to ensure it is accurate, coherent, and aligned with your presentation goals. ChatGPT can make mistakes, so check important info.
  • Refine Your Output: Even if you're very specific, it's hard to get the perfect content for your presentation on the first try. Feel free to adjust your prompts based on initial outputs. The first outputs often highlight what is needed for the best outcome.

Fiber-quilt artist to give presentation and workshop.

FLORENCE, Wis. — The Wild Rivers Quilt Guild invites all area quilters, artists and interested persons to join the group for its upcoming meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 27, beginning promptly at 5:30 p.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, in Florence, Wis. The church is located at 900 Central Avenue, at the intersection of US 2 and 101 at the west end of Florence.

The monthly presentation will be given by Colleen Ansbaugh, a fiber-quilt artist with a studio in Wabeno, Wis. Using nature as a source of inspiration, Ansbaugh creates art cloths by hand dyeing fiber and cloth. Sometimes she adds more color with paint; more often adding further surface design through silk screening, felting and always stitching. She will be highlighting the transition from traditional quilt-making to original quilting artwork and discuss how to get started with making your own art quilts.

Ansbaugh will show many samples (quilt art) of non-traditional techniques, including hand-work embellishments, piecing and dye painting. Her talk will center around the initial inspiration through the challenge of creating fiber art. Whether you have made art quilts or not, this presentation will be very informative and inspiring.

Also, the guild is offering a hands-on workshop opportunity led by Ansbaugh on Tuesday, Aug. 27, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Ansbaugh will teach her method of dyeing fabric, discharging dye from fabric. There is limited room remaining in this workshop and pre-registration is required; non-member fee is $45; contact us at [email protected] to enroll and obtain supply list.

Democrats unveil theme and featured speakers for 2024 Democratic National Convention

Every four years, the Democratic Party hosts a multi-day convention for thousands of supporters to come together and nominate their candidate for their presidency in an emotive process and this year is no exception.

This year, the convention will be set in Chicago, where Vice President Kamala Harris will accept the Democratic presidential nomination after securing the majority of the delegates earlier this month.

The convention theme will be "For the People, For Our Future," a message inspired by Harris' previous campaign motto as district attorney – "Kamala Harris, For the People."

While the convention itself is expected to draw between 5,000 and 7,000 delegates and alternate delegates, city officials expect the event will draw an estimated 50,000 visitors to the city throughout the week.

“A credential to get into the Chicago Democratic National Convention is a hotter ticket than a Taylor Swift concert,” Chris Korge, national finance chair for the Democratic National Committee, told NBC News . “We have to tell people there’s a limit to how many people we can get into the convention.”

The convention will be held over four days starting Monday, Aug. 19, and ending Thursday, Aug. 22 at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois. It will host events from 7-11 p.m. ET.

Who will be speaking at the convention?

Among the several speakers expected to take the stage , the convention will feature familiar faces such as President Joe Biden and former presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton.

President Joe Biden and First Lady Dr. Jill Biden are expected to take the stage on the first night of the convention. Other speakers include Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson and Illinois Governor JB Pritzker.

Biden’s aides said Biden will use his remarks to deliver the argument for why he believes Harris must replace him and defeat Trump, whom he says is a threat to democracy. Biden will also play up some of his popular  accomplishments  before he steps out of the spotlight for Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, to take center stage the rest of the week, the aides said.

Speakers at the convention are expected to make reference to Biden’s accomplishments, from helping lead the country out of the COVID-19 pandemic to winning passage of major infrastructure, climate and health care investments. Harris has used Biden’s policies as the foundation of her own  policy  plans.

Other notable speakers at the convention include Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff, former Secretary Hillary Rodham Clinton, Sen. Chuck Schumer, and House Democratic Leader Rep. Hakeem Jeffries.

When will Harris and Walz deliver their acceptance speeches?

Walz will deliver his vice presidential acceptance speech on Wednesday. Harris will give her presidential acceptance speech on Thursday, according to the DNC.

How to watch the DNC convention live?

NBC News will air a special report on this NBC station from 10 p.m. ET to 11 p.m. ET each night of the convention.

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- Ahead of former President Barack Obama's big speech, California Gov. Gavin Newsom delivered the final delegates to make Vice President Kamala Harris the Democratic presidential nominee ceremonially.

Harris Mojadedi is a first-time delegate from the East Bay and he's excited for Tuesday's big roll call.

"This is a key moment for our nation to nominate the first woman of color, an African American woman, and a South Asian American woman - as the son of a South Asian woman. I might get a little teary-eyed," said Mojadedi.
