Teachers are the ones who open the minds of the young ones to the world. They impart knowledge and show them what matters the most. Teachers have a lot of students to take care of, and they all look the same in the eyes of a teacher; whereas, the same teacher can appeal to each student differently. They make an impact on their lives and change them for the good.

The influence a teacher has on their students is huge. No matter what, a student always looks up to the teacher for help and guidance. Teachers are like second parents. Teachers have a fair share in the moulding of a child from the time the child is around 4 to 5 years old. So it is important that children have good teachers who could make them intellectually, emotionally and morally sound and strong.

‘A good teacher is like a candle – it consumes itself to light the way for others’, says Mustafa Kemal Ataturk. Teaching has always been considered as a noble profession. No good teacher looks for their own success and endeavour; they always have their students’ present and future in mind. When one chooses to be a teacher, it is understood that a number of qualities are embodied in that individual.

A teacher is looked upon as a guide, a mentor, a friend and a selfless abode of love and care. No matter how young or old a teacher is, they consider their students as their own children. The influence of a teacher extends beyond the classroom. The best teachers tell their students where to look but don’t tell them what to see, according to Alexandra K Trenfor. Teachers let their light shine bright even on the darkest roads so that the little ones do not lose track of their destination. You are everything a teacher should be. To the world, you may be just another teacher, but to us, you are our hero. We respect you for what you have been doing for us all through these years. We know we are not the best students, but you are the best teacher we could ever ask for. Thank you for accepting us for who we are and for loving us as much.

Teachers play a pivotal role in the life of each and every student. A teacher need not be perfect, but a teacher ought to be knowledgeable so as to provide the students with the right information and considerate so as to be able to try and understand every little child. Teachers are often a source of inspiration. There are children who follow the footsteps of their teachers. A good teacher is like a treasure that has to be cherished and valued.

Joyce Meyer said, “Teachers can change lives with just the right mix of chalk and challenges”. It is true that as teachers, they always chalk out the right direction and overcome the challenges on the way. Teachers can do more than just guide. They pave the way and let the children choose their own paths to become the best version of themselves in the future.

Why are teachers important in our life?

Teachers impart knowledge and guide us in the right directions. Our life would definitely not be the same without dedicated teachers who selflessly work in order to make our lives better.

How do you end a speech?

There are numerous ways in which you can end your speech. You can simply sum up and conclude, use a quote that sums up the whole idea of the speech, motivate everyone listening to you to join in with you to make a difference and so on.

What is the best speech for a teacher?

If you are thinking about what would be the best thing to say when you are asked to speak about your teacher, here is a tip. You can share your experiences about your teachers and thank them for all that they have done for you.

Speech on Teacher’s Day (500 Words, 5 Minutes Speech)

गुरुर्ब्रह्माग्रुरुर्विष्णुःगुरुर्देवोमहेश्वरः।

गुरुःसाक्षात्परंब्रह्मतस्मैश्रीगुरवेनमः।।

Good Morning! Honorable Principal sir, director sir, teachers, chief guests, and my dear friends. I am Jagdish Rathor and I study in class 10 th . It’s an honour and a huge pleasure for me to be standing here today. On this special occasion, I want to say few words on behalf of our respected teachers, who are thought of as the backbone of our society. Today is Teacher’s Day, which is a celebration of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan’s birthday. He was one of the best teachers our nation has ever had. He was also India’s second president. Dr. Radhakrishnan told that it would be a great honor for him if they didn’t celebrate his birthday on September 5 but instead made it Teachers’ Day. This really shows how much he cared about teaching and how much he wanted to honor all teachers.

We all know that the word “teacher” is hard to describe. It’s not easy to be a teacher, because they have to teach students all day without sitting down, figuring out their strengths and weaknesses, and then work on them in the right way. Teachers don’t just shape the lives of the students they teach, but also the lives of the whole generation. Teaching is more than just a good job. It’s also one of the greatest contributions to mankind. A teacher is an intellectual and spiritual guide, and they help their students so that they can spread their wings and fly. They give us the strength to get through life’s hard times. They help us turn our raw potential into beautiful realities. They plant the seeds of knowledge, grow our skills, and give us the power to become the best versions of ourselves. In addition to giving us knowledge, teachers also teach us essential values and qualities that shape us. They teach us how important it is to be honest and have ethics, to respect others, and to never give up. They make us want to dream big, follow our interests, and keep going even when things get hard.

Teacher’s Day is a good time to tell our teachers how much we appreciate them and how important they are to us. Without them, our lives would be useless. As we celebrate Teachers’ Day today, let’s thank the teachers who have made a difference in our lives. Let’s appreciate the pleasure of remembering how hard they worked to make their lessons interesting, how patiently they answered all of our questions, and how much they cared about us when we needed it the most. I bow my head and thank them from the bottom of my heart, now and always. Have a happy teacher’s day! Last but not least, I’d like to end my speech with a quote from Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam: “The goal of education is to make good people who are skilled and knowledgeable. Teachers can help people become more enlightened.” Thank you to all of my teachers, who have always shown us the way and been there for us.

Long Speech On Respect 500 Words In English

Good Morning Everyone.

Today I want to speak about the topic ‘Respect.’ The word ‘Respect’ is a term that has a broader meaning to it. Respect is a feeling that fills positivity in action or expression of a human being towards something. Respecting someone is a reflection of your ethical behavior. But, in modern times, unfortunately, people forget the values of respect. There are two aspects of respect, one is self-respect, and another one is the respect you give to people.

The meaning behind self-respect is profound. To love our self with honor and dignity is what we call as self-respect. With the help of self-respect, you respect your self. If you have self-respect, you will surely treat yourself with honor.

If you don’t give self-respect to yourself, you should not even expect respect from others. No one likes to respect an individual who doesn’t have self-respect.

If you don’t have self-respect, you might experience negative concerns for yourself. In those cases, the person has a higher chance of involving in wrong activities. That person also lacks self-confidence.

If you are mature and confident and feel great about yourself and believe that you are no less than anyone, you have self-respect. You will be more responsible and sincere towards your duties and responsibilities if you have self-respect.

You will feel much more reliable if you have self-respect compared to the person who doesn’t have self-respect. You will always stand for your rights, values, opinions, and many essential things in your life, if you have self-esteem.

If you have self-respect, you can improve your morality and ethical values, and also can make yourself valuable for others. Self-respect, overall, makes you a much better person.

Then comes the respect which we show for others. Respecting every human being is essential. For living and surviving in society, maintaining respect towards each other is essential. We usually give a basic level of respect towards everybody. The ones who are connected to our life, we give them respect properly.

Our parents, relatives, teachers, friends, colleagues, etc., these people generally influence our lives. By listening to someone properly and valuing their opinions, is the way we can give them respect. Giving somebody an equal chance to present his/her views is what we call giving respect.

Irrespective of different views on religion, political views, or cultural views, if we still give our consideration and understand the importance, this is another aspect of giving respect. Respecting other people’s religion is a sign of mature respect towards them. I am sure; everyone has some people in their life who hold the authority. We should always show respect towards that person.

So, lastly, respect is something which makes you feel good and positive, and it is a crucial element of everybody’s life. Respecting someone is always positive. For maintaining a good relationship and understanding between two people, we should maintain respect for each other. Everyone deserves respect, and in return, they should also respect others.

This cultural tradition is an ancient one and everyone around the world also has adopted this way because of the meaning and value it holds.

Each and every individual is worthy of Respect regardless of their age, class, profession, color or gender.

And the meaning of Namaste also conveys the same, which means we are equal, and I Respect you by bowing down.

In the schools and colleges, we can also convey Respect by addressing our teachers as Sir and Ma’am instead of calling them by their first names. Whereas this form of addressing does not hold true for the corporate culture. In offices, it is encouraged to call each other by their first names to develop a healthy working relationship without any biasedness.

So much Respect is shown by physical gestures but much more can be conveyed by body language. One can also be Respectful to their friends and loved ones, by giving them undivided attention when they are speaking, being helpful, not using harsh words, opening the door for the one behind you, being kind is also a sign of Respect. Apologizing for one’s mistakes, saying sorry, please, and thank you is also a sign of Respecting the other person as well as yourself.

The other form of Respectful behavior also holds true as to how we behave with ourselves and that is called self-Respect. Self-Respect is basically leading your life with grace and dignity without hurting others in the journey. Self-Respect has nothing to do with humiliating others for fulfilling our own agendas. It means showing care towards self and others equally and living a fulfilling life.

In conclusion, I would like to say one need not be loud when being Respectful, these subtle gestures are enough to convey your admiration and love for the person. Respecting and honoring someone is truly a great sign of love; it makes the day positive. It also makes you feel better about yourself so choose your way of Respecting others and yourself and do not indulge in negativity.

Short Speech on Respect for Students

Short Speech on Respect can also be presented as Short Speech on Self Respect and this will be extremely useful for students in grades 4-7 that will help them learn about this topic in simple words.

Good morning everyone, I Abc (mention your name) feel very honored to speak on the topic of Respect which is something that is so important, universal and yet so personal. Respect is a sign language that conveys what you feel for the other person in a simple and positive way. There is a saying that goes, “treat others the way you wish to be treated”, and if you wish to be Respected it is important that you also treat others with equal Respect.

When you admire someone and hold them in high esteem it is natural that you tend to be more Respectful towards them. Being Respectful to others and treating them in an equal manner also means being Respectful to yourself. As anyone who displays Respectful behavior imparts positivity in everyday life and this way of leading life is more peaceful and less complex.

Respect can be displayed in many different ways depending on the relationship you have with the person you admire or the situation you are in. It is important to Respect everyone regardless of whether you disagree with them and have different opinions than them.

Being Respectful doesn’t require a lot of effort, rather one needs to do it with just good intentions and value the presence of another person and acknowledge their view. And the world would be a much better place if we just accepted and Respected our differences.

Respect Speech 3 Minutes

This Speech is useful for students in grades 1-3 as they can understand and speak about the topic in 10 Simple Lines.

Respect is an emotion one feels for something or someone, that can also be a form of admiration.

Respect can be expressed and conveyed to people in different ways.

Everyone is worthy of Respect, regardless of our differences.

Conveying and showing Respect makes one feel honored and valued.

When people are treated with Respect their day becomes positive.

Respect shows sincerity towards others.

Self-Respect is the way of Respecting oneself and not compromising others.

Self-Respect and Respect are the two sides of the same coin.

Respect for all kinds shows your confidence, maturity and belief in yourself.

In a world with so many divisions, it is important to have Respect for one another to have healthier relationships.

Respecting and being Respected is an intangible wealth that one possesses. It is a coherent trait that is mostly the outcome of proper guidance and proper parenting. It is not only shown by mere physical actions but must also be evaluated at heart. Respect for others is very important for the individualistic growth of a person, it not only shows that the person is very modest and humble but also presents a very comprehensive and clear picture of his personality. The trait of Respecting is very admired on a professional and personal level. It helps in building healthy and consistent relations with our peers and friends.

Respecting others and being others also affirms the stature of a person as a human in the society. It establishes the presence of intellect, modesty and decency in a person. It is always very loved and admired by others also, a person who Respects others is always Respected by others as well. When we Respect or disRespect others, we are reflecting the parenting and guidance that we have received from others and as such can be the cause of pride or prejudice to the Respect and dignity of our parents. Proper parenting and proper guidance is very important for the development of a great personality. Education also plays a very important role in our ability and understanding of Respect for others. However it is not necessary that only educated people will Respect others or an illiterate person will not Respect others.

Respect is not based on the amount of money one has or on the position of power that one may hold. IrRespective of the social hierarchical position, Respect should be equal to everyone and doesn’t discriminate on the basis of social differences. Often doctors, politicians and rich people are seen to be Respected but the others with low wealth, no power and doing menial jobs equally deserve the same level of Respect.

Humiliation and disRespect to a person on the basis of any distinctions is injustice. Not Respecting others may restrict the person from enjoying his fundamental rights and thus account for a violation of law. Our constitution also directs us to maintain the dignity of every individual and not violate the integrity and dignity of an individual. The constitution makes no discrimination in this regard and thus mandates that we Respect all people. The fundamental duties in our constitution also direct to maintain the Respect of ourselves and others and not to bias on any ground. As a citizen, it thus is our duty to Respect all people and make them feel equally safe and secure in their country.

Most of the traditions and cultures around the world very precisely put forward the regards to Respect others and to seek Respect. The traditions also don’t discriminate on any ground here. The societal stigmas present in society may sometimes not be in line with our constitutional principles or traditional directions. There are certain societal dogmas like caste distinctions, wealth differences, age etc that come out to be derogatory and disRespectful to other people. These dogmas and beliefs, caste distinction  and wealth differences, age need to be put aside and minds should be enlightened that humans are equal.

Age is also not a factor in deciding whether a person should be Respected or not, children also deserve to be Respected and appreciated. It falls upon the shoulders of their parents to make sure that they Respect their children and also make sure that others also don’t disRespect them. Wherever such an event comes up where the parents feel that their children are not Respected well, they must act accordingly and make sure their children don’t feel disRespected and insulted. Children are very vulnerable to negative effects and disRespecting them can have physical and mental effects on them.

People can be seen disRespecting other people in front of them or behind their backs, that is not Respect, that is hypocrisy. Respect for others should be deeply embedded in the hearts and minds. Be it for a sweeper or a cobbler, politician or a doctor, all deserve equal Respect as a human and no one deserves to be humiliated and disRespected. Not Respecting others may also have effects on the children of these people because they’ll feel as if they are someone at a lower level, of a lower kind or less human. This is not a proper direction to move in and may lead to severe consequences on these children.

A person who Respects others is very much loved and cared for by all people. A Respectful person also becomes a role model for other people, especially for the students and hence we must strive to become better of ourselves and always be in the form to Respect others.

Speech on respect.

The word ‘respect’ is a broad term and has a huge meaning in itself. However, different people understand this term in different ways. Respect is a feeling that fills positivity in a human being or an action that we express towards something. Moreover, we can also get it as something held in high esteem or favour for someone. Respecting someone is an indication of ethical behaviour. Unfortunately, in modern times, people are forgetting and fading the value of respect. Notably, there are 2 important aspects of respect that are self-respect and the respect that we give to other people. Read speech on respect here.

Self-Respect

The word self-respect also has a wide and deep meaning. Self-respect basically means to love our self and to behave with honour and dignity at the same time. Self-respect reflects respect for our own self. An individual who has self-respect will always treat himself/herself with honour and will always value himself/herself.

Furthermore, lacking our own respect for us is a matter of dishonour for us. A person who does not respect or values himself/herself should never expect respect from other people. The reason behind this logic is that no one likes to treat an individual like this with respect.

Lack of self-respect brings negative concerns and attitude for the person. A person who lacks self-respect is the one who does not get respect from any other person. In addition, such an individual has a higher chance of indulging in bad activities. Also, the person who lacks self-respect suffers through a major lack of self-confidence in himself\herself.

Self-respect is a reflection of maturity and confidence that makes us feel great and makes us believe that we are not less than anyone. Self-respect makes a person more responsible and sincere towards his/her duties and responsibilities.

Furthermore, the person with self-respect is always stronger than a person that has no self-respect. A person with self-esteem always stands for his/her rights, values, opinions, and many other important things in his/her life.

Self-respect improves the morality and ethics of a person and makes him/her valuable and important for many people. Such people have a quite good and decent nature. Above all, self-respect makes you a much better person than a person with no self/respect.

Respect of Others

Each of us should respect all human beings. Respecting someone is an essential need of living and surviving in a society today. We usually give a basic level of respect for other people. Furthermore, we should respect the people in a proper way who impact our lives.

People who usually impact our lives are parents, relatives, teachers, friends, colleagues, etc. One of the finest ways of respecting someone is listening to them carefully and valuing their opinions.

Listening to another person’s thoughts, way of thinking, point of views, etc. is an excellent way of respecting them. Notably, we must permit a person to present his/her views and opinions even if we disagree with them.

Another essential aspect of giving respect to others is religious or political views. Religious and cultural beliefs of all peoples should be given a lot of consideration and importance.

Moreover, respecting other people’s religions is a sign of showing mature respect towards them. Everyone should respect the people who have authority. Almost each of us deals with people in our lives that hold authority.

So overall, respect is not just something that makes us feel good and positive but it is an important element of life in the present time. Respecting someone can never be something negative. Moreover, it maintains a good relationship and understanding between two persons. Everyone deserves respect and should also respect other people in this world.

Speech On Respect

Respect is a feeling of appreciation or appreciation towards an individual, group, community or a specific action and behavior. Today in our society it is important that we give respect to others before getting them. Maybe when you are requested to give a ‘speech on honour’. You can prepare your own speech, we have shared here the following speech which you can use as a sample.

Table of Contents

Speech on Respect in English

Speech – 1.

Respected Principal, teachers and my dear students!

First of all thank you for being a part of this celebration. We have gathered here to celebrate our school’s annual day and like every year. We will try our best to make this festival the most memorable one for all of you.

I would like to thank the organizers for giving me the opportunity to host the event. As you all know that our school is highly recognized on the international stage and is one of the top 10 schools in the state. Students who complete their education from our school get admission in popular colleges and universities and work in very good positions in highly recognized organizations.

The intelligence and common sense of our students are highly appreciated. I also urge every student of this school to earn respect towards others. As you all know respect is an encouraging feeling of admiration for a person or institution. It shows the respect and kindness shown by a person towards others. It is very important that we work to bring harmony in the society by respecting each other and always remember that respect is not demanded but earned and respect is earned through our noble deeds and actions.

While it is important that we respect everyone we meet in our lives, it is equally important that we follow actions that can help us earn respect. Respect is first in a person who earns wealth through his behavior through activities for office, home or society.

It is important that parents teach their children to respect their older grandparents, teachers, their fellow friends and everyone around them, then only we will be able to build a positive society. Nowadays people get angry over small things and get involved in controversies which sometimes turn violent. If children are taught to forgive minor matters and respect those around them, they will grow up to lead a happy life.

It is also important for all of us to respect our environment. We should be careful not to throw garbage in public places like roads, parks, sidewalks etc. Children learn what they see. Thus good habits should be taken into account by their respective parents and relatives of the children.

I would also like to focus on ‘respect for culture’. I understand that the world is becoming global and all countries are exchanging art, talent, culture and traditions with each other. But it does not allow anyone to insult our Indian culture. Indian culture is one of the oldest and one of the best in the world. Today’s children are the future of our nation and thus they must ensure that people across the world respect India.

There is no specific definition of the word ‘respect’ and no formula that will help you to respect others. We respect the people we love but sometimes we also have to meet people from whom we should show respect without expecting anything in return. For example, if you are sitting while traveling in a public transport and a disabled person comes near you then you should respect that person and provide your seat to that person.

Such small deeds will help you in getting a lot of respect in the society. Apart from this, if you start respecting yourself then it will always help you to move forward in life positively.

Thank you for listening to me so patiently. I wish you all a good future!

speech – 2

I welcome all of you to the program ‘Give respect first to get respect’. First of all, many thanks to the organizers and supporters. All this would not have been possible without your support.

As you all know our organization is a charity organization and we work for the elderly who are homeless or who have been neglected or thrown out by relatives. I have been associated with this organization for the last 10 years i.e. since its inception. The cases I have seen the most in these 10 years relate to senior citizens rejected by my own son and family. It seems strange in a country like India where we talk about maintaining our culture, tradition, religion and ethnicity.

We share many messages and sayings on Parents Day, Father’s Day or Mother’s Day but in reality we lack basic ethics and responsibility. Respecting one’s parents is not a duty or an obligation but it is our religion. Our parents have done a lot for us apart from bringing us into this world. They take care of their children’s every need and struggle everyday to put a smile on our faces but when they get old and need us the most, we get so busy with ourselves that we can’t help them. And this is the reason why there are so many old age homes all over the world.

My father always says that the youth of earlier times used to give a lot of respect to the seniors. In those days the youth did not sit in front of their elders, did not smoke or drink alcohol. Unfortunately the culture and consciousness of respect for each other is fast disappearing in our society in present times.

In the name of privacy, we have indulged in petty activities like smoking, drinking, drinking etc. In the name of freedom, we stay out all night and do not consider it necessary to inform our elders, skip meals and go missing for the whole day. All this happens because we have lost our sense of responsibility. We are becoming more and more impatient and have built a wall around us. If our elders try to break that wall then we lose our patience and behave inappropriately like shouting and throwing objects etc.

I will also mention the role of social media towards this change. Not that I am blaming social media for people but the fact is that most of the social media users have a ‘don’t bother me’ thinking. Most of the people who come home from work in the evening prefer to check their instant chat messages and profiles of friends on social media instead of spending time with their family. Slowly it is becoming a tradition of almost every household and today’s children are growing up in this environment. When such children grow up, they give respect to the virtual people but ignore the real ones.

Unless we develop a sense of love and responsibility towards others, we will not be able to respect others. Respecting others is not the special thing you would do to someone. In fact you must respect others to get respect. The sooner we realize that the better.

Speech – 3

Respected Principal, Honorable Teachers and my dear friends! good morning.

First of all I would like to welcome all of you to this inspirational event and thank all the team members who have helped each other in organizing this event. I am Vani from class XII and it is my privilege to host this event. Today this program is specially organized for the students and their parents. This program is based on the importance of respect in our life. For today’s event the students have prepared games, speeches and many more activities. So before his performance begins, I want to give a speech on honor at the beginning of the program.

As we all know that in today’s world everyone is running after money. Everyone knows that money plays an important role in fulfilling our needs but money is also a way to build a good image in the society and a good image is a way to gain respect among people. So we can say that respect is one of the main objective which most of the people want to get in their whole life but we can not consider money as the only means of getting respect because our behavior and how we treat other people is our responsibility. Tells us about relationships.

Almost everyone in this world wants to get respect. If we want to get respect then it is very important that we also respect other people. To get respect a person should understand that he should not ask everyone for respect but earn it because respect can only be earned. A person can gain respect by doing good deeds or by doing such activities which create respect for him in another mind.

If we are talking about respect then there are some important person in everyone’s life whom we give respect like our respected parents, grandparents, teachers etc. These people hold an important place in our lives and hearts. He is the most respected person in our life.

Despite all these respected people in our life, there are some people whose inspirational life and good deeds force us to give them respect. Yes! I am talking about our respected soldiers and police because they are the main reason for maintaining our country’s independence and integrity. They are risking their lives to save our lives. Protecting a country as big as ours is really not an easy task. The reason behind protecting the whole country is the biggest reason behind his honor.

With this, I want to end my speech and give special thanks to our honorable Principal Madam and also congratulate the teachers and all the parents for participating in this event and making us successful by cooperating. I would like to thank the members of my team who organized this event with unity.

Thank you. Good day to you all.

Speech – 4

Respected Principal Madam, Honorable Manager Sir and Professors and my dear friends!

Today our college has organized a debate competition for all the students. I am a Vanika and I am very happy to have the opportunity to host this competition. This debate competition is specially organized for the students to help them overcome their hesitations and fears. The theme of today’s debate competition is ‘Respect can only be achieved’. As we know that one team has to speak in support of it and others will speak against it but before going ahead I want to say a few words about respect.

As everyone knows respect is something that almost everyone wants. Every person should know that the important thing is that if we want respect then we have to give respect to others. Every person in this world gets respect on the basis of his deeds. If a person’s behavior is good or his mood is helpful, then he automatically forces other people to respect him.

As we know there are some important person in our life whom we should give respect. Yes, my parents, teachers, Talking about grandparents and many other respected people. He is the person who teaches us how to give respect and how to get respect. We respect our parents because they are the reason for our existence in this world and they do everything possible to keep us happy. Grandparents also play an important role in our lives. They are known to be the most respected people in the house. Most grandparents care for their grandchildren. Most children are more attached to their grandparents during childhood but unfortunately most of the parents and grandparents are neglected by their children or grandchildren and have to live their life in old age homes. This is one of the most painful behavior of children who ignore their parents and grandparents when they need help. Instead of getting respect from your children, they should be ignored.

Teachers also have an important place among all these respected people in our lives. A teacher shows his students the right path which motivates the students for success. It is impossible to achieve success without anyone’s guidance and there is no greater guide in this world than a teacher. A good teacher tries his best to make his student’s future bright but after a bright future most of the students forget to thank their teachers. One should never forget their parents, teachers and everyone who has supported them every moment.

So if we really want to get respect then first of all we have to respect other people especially our elders including parents, teachers and elders.

With this, I would like to end my speech and would like to give special thanks to the Principal Madam, who gave me a chance to express my views in front of all of you on this platform.

Teacher Speech

The role of a teacher in the life of a student is significant and by and large the most important. The excellence of a teacher decides the academic and other mile stones achieved by his/her students. We all are like a bundle of infinite potential, but, to unlock that potential and to realize our own abilities, we, up to large extent, depend on our teacher. A teacher recognizes our individual talents and treats us accordingly so that to bring out the best in us.

She/he is the person who makes us realize our own blessings and guides us until we have full explored them. A teacher, like our parents, always stays by our side, either in joy or in sorrow. By encouraging the youth and making them educated, a teacher does excellent service to the society and to the nation.

Long and Short Speech on Teacher in English

Below we are giving long and short speech on teachers.

These Teacher Speech are written in simple English to make them easily memorable and presentable when required.

While delivering the speech you will tell the audiences about the significance and qualities of a teacher, leaving the audience mesmerized in the end.

These long and short speeches will be extremely useful for you on the occasions like Teachers Day or other similar events.

Short Speech on Teacher – 1

Good Morning everyone! As we all know that today is Teachers Day, so I am being asked by my classmates to give a speech on “teacher”.

A teacher, my dear friends, going by the meaning, is someone who teaches. But, this is only the most basic definition of a teacher. If I have started stating the ways in which a teacher contributes to the society, I will most probably run short of words.

A teacher is the craftsman who helps building the foundation of a nation by teaching its wards. Without a teacher there would be no students, but only boisterous citizens with no clue on where they are headed.

Happy Teachers Day to all and don’t forget to cheer your beloved teachers today by pampering them with praises and gifts.

Short Speech on Teacher – 2

Very well Good Morning to all of you present here today, especially the teachers. As we all know that today is Teachers Day and I am requested by some of the friends of mine to give a speech on teachers.

From kindergarten to graduation, every step that we took was accompanied by a teacher whose sole interest was in our own growth and welfare. I think teaching is one of those rare professions, which someone chooses out of passion, rather than necessity.

There are so many teachers, a few of them I personally know, who could have easily chosen a lucrative profession; nevertheless, they chose to go with their inner voice. That is, they chose to enlighten the minds and transform lives. Could there be a social work more elegant than transforming noisy, stubborn and rambunctious kids into disciplined, concerned and progressive adults.

While most of us strive for materialistic accomplishments – decent package, house, car etc; a teacher wishes for something more sensible, that is, to transform his/her students into productive and sensible citizens.

There is nothing by which the society or the nation could ever repay the services of a teacher. S/he is the very foundation of a society.

Having said that, I would like to request you all to celebrate the day with your beloved, respected teachers, with as much fun and joy as you can. It is a day when you make them happy and cheer them up for the noble task they have chosen.

Wishing you all Happy Teacher’s Day! Once Again!

Long Speech on Teacher – 3

Respected Principal, Respected teachers and my dear fellow Students,

It feels great to welcome you all to this auspicious occasion; since we have gathered here to celebrate one of the most admirable occasions i.e. Teacher’s Day, it’s an opportunity for me to share few words about teachers, their role in schools and colleges and their influence on the students.

Teachers are the backbone of our society because they majorly contribute in shaping the future of a nation, i.e. students and guide them in becoming an ideal citizen of the country. Teacher’s job is full of responsibility and challenges because not every student is same and thus the teacher has to be dynamic and adopt different teaching patterns for different students. Teaching is a social practice and more than knowledge, a teacher must be a good human being who can very well shoulder the responsibility of his/her job and understand the sensitivity of the situation where students from different backgrounds have come together for learning and thus apply skills and knowledge to the best of his/her capacity while teaching.

Some of the qualities which every teacher must possess in order to become most acceptable are:

  • Enthusiasm – It is a known fact that teachers who show enthusiasm while teaching create a positive atmosphere and learning environment which help students in gaining knowledge fast and with fun. These teachers don’t follow the uniform pattern instead, they innovate teaching methods to keep the students engaged and enthusiastic.

The most important role a teacher plays is in motivating the students; some of the students find their teacher to be a role model and try to imitate them. Thus it is very important that the teacher leaves a positive impression on each student.

  • Interaction with learners – It is very important for the teacher to indulge into transparent and open discussion with the students in order to understand the capability of the learner. Some students are shy, while other may be afraid of failure. A teacher is highly trusted to build up the student emotionally and practically.

Conventionally, teaching is considered equivalent to praying. In olden days, parents used to leave their children in gurukul (a kind of residential school where students live with the teacher for studies). This tradition was greatly supported by the trust and bond between the parents and teachers. Even today, trust is one of the most important factors which motivate parents to get their children admitted in a particular school. A teacher is considered to be the alternate parents; this makes teaching all the more challenging and full of accountability.

In recent days, we get to hear a lot about corporal punishment. Some of the teachers get barbaric and beat students so badly that some of them don’t even survive. This is highly restricted in all over India. Though it is important for the teachers to be strict sometimes but there can be alternate methods to punish the students than harming them physically.

Well, I would like to end this note with a huge thanks to our teachers who are so caring and compassionate. We are highly honoured to be a part of this School.

Long Speech on Teacher – 4

Good evening everybody!

I welcome you all to this grand occasion. In our lifetime each of us has some or other teachers whom we consider as our idol.

Alright, so today I would like to talk to you about the one who lays the foundation of the existence of any school – ‘The Teacher’. Teacher is that one entity who strengthens the educational power of the students. They are the ones who link the students to the school and vice versa.

While I was young, I always used to associate my subject by the name of the teacher who used to teach that and also more the favourite teacher, more the marks in that subject… Yes, it’s a fact. Isn’t it, kids?

It is a proven fact that a teacher’s job is not just a job but it has an impact on the growth and well-being of the entire nation. Teachers play the most essential role in delivering what is desired. They are considered as the backbone of the society because they continuously contribute in building up the student’s characters, shaping their future and also help them to become ideal citizens of the country. A good teacher always inspires the hope, ignites the imagination, and instils the love of learning within us.

It isn’t true that the teacher works only when they have a class to address, before coming to the class they have a long handed homework to be done, yes… believe me, they do have! They need to be prepared for the topic to be taught, they have to get the tests prepared, the exercises ready and all that To-Do list prepared before they actually come on desk to perform their role. It is the responsibility of the teachers to continue doing their hard work and go through a variety of material that enriches their knowledge for the betterment of the society.

Teachers give us the moral support and encourage us to live a quality life in the society. They have the power to let the students understand the aspects of career growth, and future prospects in their desired fields.

Teachers help a student to shape their character and make their future bright. They enable us to stand strong in this world by building us from within, by making us sensible and knowledgeable so that we become capable of dealing with numerous challenges coming our way and helping us succeed.

As a conclusion, I would ask you all to always cherish the bond with your teachers. They are the ones who have educated you and have put in the efforts to bring you up in this society. We owe our respect and gratitude towards our teachers, they have empowered us with education, they have nurtured us with their love and affection just like our parents. Our respect makes them feel contended; they build the new blood to be a worthy soul in this nation.

Teachers have always been special and will continue to do so in all times to come.

Speech on Teacher – 5

Our most respected teachers, dear friends and students,

How may we express our heartfelt gratitude to our teachers? Friend, philosopher and guide all rolled into one. Yes, every teacher of ours has been just that.

Our teachers have facilitated our scholastic abilities and aptitudes. They have helped us cross the thresholds to possess the academic prerequisites to clear exams and qualify at different levels in our academic pursuits. They have been patient with us even as they got us grounded in the fundamentals of every subject. They have taught us with love. And that has often lightened even subjects that we found very tough.

But then our teachers have done much, much more than that. And we have learned from our teachers in so many different ways. Our teachers have guided us when we have faced difficult situations and dilemmas. When we have been low, and down and dejected they have been successful in raising our spirits and putting us right back on track. They have loved us even when we played truant and were mischievous and played pranks. They have offered us support in so many ways that made the process of education enjoyable. They have striven hard to inculcate in us human values and right ethics so that we may have a future guided by goodness and righteousness. They have helped us seek the truth and live by it at all times. They have given their time most generously, and offered advice most willingly. Isn’t it?

And naturally our teachers have been our role models. We have always looked up to our teachers with respect, awe and love. And we have always wondered if we could ever match up to them. Right?

Really speaking, it may never be possible for us to say all that our teachers have done for us and made possible for us so that we may work hard, excel and have a bright and happy future.

As we come together to thank our teachers, we find words are insufficient to do that. Words seem to pale before our teachers’ selfless service and devotion to the cause of educating, enlightening and moulding our minds, hearts and lives in totality. Words can never equal what our teachers have done for us with no expectation whatsoever.

Nevertheless, we have to resort to saying verbally a thank you to our teachers which is, of course, backed by our most sincere gratitude and deep love and appreciation.

Dear teachers, we want to say a heartfelt thank you to you all. You mean so much to us. What you have given us will help us go into the world for building our future.

All the beautiful flowers that could go into making a fragrant and extravagant bouquet would whither after a time, but dear teachers, our love and respect and regard for you for all that you have done to bolster and buttress our strength, and courage shall remain fresh always, in fact, will only grow and grow.

Speech on Teacher – 6

Dear friends, respected teachers and Principal Ma’am,

It is indeed so wonderful to be here on the occasion to mark Teacher’s Day.

As we look back there is a sense of nostalgia, of course, as we reminisce the academic institutions we attended as we went from school to college and then to university and other institutions of higher learning.

But at the root of it all is the great sense of gratitude we feel for our teachers at every level of our study and learning.

What would life have been but for our teachers? They, who taught us the alphabets and then through all the years of our study till we submitted, perhaps, our post-doctoral research work.

Education is so inter-linked with teachers. And when we glorify education as the means of enlightenment, emancipation and empowerment of people, men and women, we must really realize that the possibility becomes a realization through the patience, love, service and devotion of millions of teachers.

Go back in time and the person you most fondly remember will be the teacher who taught you, perhaps at kindergarten. That was the time when you, as a little child, left the comfort of your home and parents and went into a completely new environment and started to study and play with other children. And that kindergarten teacher was the person who was loving and caring, making the initiation to learning less painful, more comfortable.

As you grew up your teachers also became your mentors, advisers, supporters, counselors, sympathizers and role models. And your teachers were persons who made you independent thinkers, adventurous learners and inquisitive researchers. And they fostered you at every step. Even when our teachers seemed harsh or tough with us it was to make us strong and capable to deal with the reality most ably and most aptly that awaited us in the world. We realized that later. And we were only overwhelmed with gratitude.

These memories flood our minds and hearts as we remember our dear teachers. Yes, indeed!

Years may roll on and time flies, yet our teachers have a very special place in our hearts. That it seems is the power of sharing. When teachers teach us it is really that they share so much of their time, learning and life skills with us. Teachers are indeed so generous, and that is what transforms the lives of students year after year.

When we come together on occasions such as today to celebrate the lives and work of teachers, let us determine to share, in our own way, something that we may be endowed with, with those who may lack it. When we can do something akin to what our teachers did for us, it would only make our teachers happy and proud of us. It may be one way of saying a big thank you to our teachers.

Nothing can equal what our teachers have done for us. But we can try in whatever small way we can.

Very good morning to all of you. Today, on the special occasion of Teachers’ Day, we are here to celebrate and pay a hearty tribute to our very dear teachers, who tirelessly work to ensure that they provide the best education to their students, as we are the nation’s future.

Teachers’ Day is celebrated on September 5 every year with lots of joy, happiness, and enthusiasm. Students across the country observe this day as Teachers’ Day to pay respect to their teachers, who play a big role in building the character of students and are the undeniable backbone of society.

It would not be wrong to say that teachers are equal to our parents. They teach us selflessly and treat us as their own children. Parents give birth to a child, while teachers shape the personality of that child, and they constantly try to help a child evolve into a good human being. So, as students, we should always respect and love them. Teachers are the source of inspiration. They motivate us, nourish our young minds with knowledge, give us strength and prepare us to face the obstacles in life.

Teachers are, therefore, a blessing for us in many ways. Let’s pledge today to always respect our teachers, obey them and follow their advice to be worthy citizens. On this day, I want to thank all my teachers for guiding me whenever I needed you.

A big thanks to all of you!

Respected Principal, teachers, and my dear friends!

Good morning to one and all! We are here today to celebrate the honourable occasion of Teachers’ Day. This day gives us the opportunity to celebrate and express our gratitude to our teachers. September 5 commemorates the birth anniversary of our former President, Doctor Radhakrishnan, who was not only a political figure but also a teacher in the true sense.

Hence, his birthday is the perfect day to express our love and appreciation to our teachers for their valuable contribution in shaping the future of tomorrow. Teachers not only impart knowledge, but they also shape the personalities of children. Teachers give children hope to dream, they guide and support students in achieving their goal. They enrich the quality of education and tirelessly work towards making it even better. Hence they are a perennial source of inspiration and motivation. Teachers do deserve this tribute and gratitude for the million ways in which they touch the lives of the students.

As a student, I cannot thank you enough. Whatever I will say will be less because no amount of words can suffice how much you all mean to me and other students. To all the teachers, who have taught me, thank you for guiding me whenever I needed you. To all the teachers present here, thank you all for your genuine efforts, patience, and positive encouragement. Today, I express my heartfelt gratitude to you. Lastly, I want to end this speech with a quote by Ever Garrison, dedicated to all the teachers, “A teacher is a compass that activates the magnets of curiosity, knowledge, and wisdom in pupils.”

Thank you for always supporting us.

Sample Speech #3

Very good morning to all of you!

We are gathered here to celebrate Teachers’ Day! I am given this opportunity to give a speech on Teachers’ Day, express my thoughts and thank all the teachers who have influenced me to learn and lead a better life.

I will begin with a quote. In the words of Brad Henry, “A good teacher can inspire hope, ignite the imagination and instil a love of learning.”

This wonderful thought suffices the importance of teachers in our lives. It is my honour to deliver a speech on the occasion of Teachers’ Day. Since 1962, Teachers’ Day is celebrated on the 5th of September every year in India. This day is the birth anniversary of Doctor Radhakrishnan, who was an outstanding scholar, a teacher who changed several lives, and the second President of India.

Teachers have a special place in our hearts. Although parents contribute a lot to bring us up in the right manner, it is the teachers who awaken our hearts with the light of knowledge and remove the darkness of ignorance. Teachers inspire us to think about a better future and teach us to withstand the obstacles we may face in our lives. They bring out hidden talents and creativity and also impart immense knowledge.

Since teachers lay the foundation of knowledge and education in every child’s life, they deserve gratitude and regard for all the things they keep doing selflessly. On behalf of all the students present here, I want to tell you all that you have been the epitome of strength and a pillar of support. Your immense contribution has made us what we are today. Teachers readily accept all students wholeheartedly without any bias. No matter how much I say will be less. So, I would like to conclude by thanking all the teachers and Principal on behalf of all my fellow students. Thank you for being an indispensable part of our lives.

Thank you so much!

Sample Speech #4

“With a special gift for learning And with a heart that deeply cares, You add a lot of love To everything you share. And even though You mean a lot, You’ll never know how much, For you helped To change the world Through every life, you touched.”

I would like to wish all the teachers and the Principal a very happy Teachers’ Day!

These lovely lines of the poem I recited are by Joanna Fuchs. This poem brings the image of my favourite teacher to my mind. All my friends must have also recalled their own favourite teachers. This is a special day when students across the country celebrate, pay respect and express gratitude to their teachers, who are the backbone of our country. It is a well-known fact that every year Teachers’ Day is celebrated on the 5th of September in memory of Doctor Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, who was the second President of India and a teacher par excellence. This day is special and important as teachers are felicitated in recognition of their contribution to the field of education.

Many relations exist, but the relation and understanding between a teacher and a student, or shall I say a disciple, is beyond every other relation. Teachers and students are not bound by blood, yet it is teachers who feel extremely proud of the achievements of their students. They genuinely feel happy to hear about every milestone their students achieved. It is the tireless efforts of teachers that make success possible. The world knows the greatness of a teacher through his students. It is only a teacher who can transform a mediocre student into a successful one.

On this special occasion, I appeal to all my friends to join me in appreciating the efforts of the teachers and assuring them that they will always occupy a special place in our hearts. On behalf of all the students, I would like to thank all the teachers who gave us hope to become something in life. We cannot repay what you have done for us, we can only thank you for your efforts. Thank you so much for teaching us and for bearing with us when we shout. We promise to be good students, and one day all of us will make you proud.

Thank you all!

The celebration of Teachers’ Day was begun by Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, the first Vice President of India. He was born on 5th September 1988. He was also the second-ever President of India and a well-known scholar. Dr. Radhakrishnan, with a passion for teaching, was also awarded the Bharat Ratna. It is said that once when some of his students approached him and asked to celebrate his birthday, Dr. Radhakrishnan simply told them that he would be much honoured if instead of celebrating 5th September as his birthday, they commemorated it as Teachers’ Day. This incident truly shows us how much he was dedicated to the noble teaching profession and passionate about respecting all the teachers everywhere. Thus, every year, Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan’s birth anniversary marks the Teachers’ Day celebration.

Teachers Day Speech in 100 words

Teachers hold a very special place in the lives of students. Their role in shaping the future of the nation and guiding them to become ideal citizens cannot be overlooked. In order to pay respect to your guide, guru, mentor or educator, follow the tips given below to draft an awesome speech:

1. Organise the Speech

A good speech should have an organised structure. The content should be well arranged even if the speech is informal or personal. Your child should have enough inputs about his teachers to organise the speech systematically. The format of a speech includes an introduction, a middle, and an end. Think about what he would like to talk about in each section. This preparation will also help your child organise the speech.

2. Duration of the Speech

When drafting a speech, there is no harm in expressing one’s thoughts and reciting innuendos, but the speech should be kept short. A well-drafted speech should be short and sweet, the impact of which should be thought-provoking and long-lasting. Dull and imposing speeches can never give the audience a memorable time.

3. Appreciate, Do Not Exaggerate

A touching and impressive speech can be adorned with relevant quotes or some lines from a poem. Articulate your thoughts and feelings in the simplest form. Praise your teachers, talk about the instances when they helped you, but don’t overdo it, lest they will understand that it is not coming from your heart.

4. Do Not Undermine the Purpose of the Speech

A speech should be informative and inspirational. While delivering a speech on Teachers’ Day, do not forget to pay tribute to your favourite teacher. You can give examples and innuendos, but do not forget the heart of the speech. It is your teachers, who should be the focus of the speech. Bear that in mind.

5. Dedicate Your Thoughts

The speaker should have the flair and be expressive to flaunt one’s emotions in a speech. The speaker should dedicate the speech to communicate gratitude to the teachers, acknowledge their diligence and applaud them for the role they play in a student’s life.

After helping your child write the speech, is now time to make him practice it before the event. Here are a few points that will help your child prepare and deliver an impressive yet touching speech on Teachers’ Day.

6. Intonation and Voice Modulation

The speech should sound just as heartwarming as it is written. Voice modulation helps express emotions the way they are supposed to. Practice intonation and modulate your voice to highlight the mark your teachers have made in your life.

7. Moderate Rate of Speech

The rate of speech or the speed of talking is another important factor that will add value to the speech. So make sure you make your child practise speech at a moderate rate. The rate of speech will also help your child remember the speech well and modulate his voice.

8. Pleasing Pitch

This is another important factor that affects speech. A pleasing pitch will hold the teachers’ attention and make it easier for you to share your message. Do make sure your child practices the speech in a pitch that sounds pleasing as well as vibrant.

9. Presentation

Ensure your child dresses his best on the day he is supposed to deliver the speech. Since all eyes will be on him, his uniform should be clean and ironed, his hair should be in place, and his shoes well-polished.

10. Engage the Audience with Eye Contact

Maintaining eye contact is crucial for connecting with the audience and delivering an impactful speech. Encourage your child to look at the teachers and fellow students during the speech. This not only boosts confidence but also shows respect and sincerity.

Teachers' Day Speech practise - Mother helping daughter

It is not an easy task to prepare a child to deliver a 2 minute speech on Teachers’ Day in English. However, with proper planning and preparation, you can help your child deliver the best speech on Teachers’ Day.

1. Demonstrate

Teach your child how to deliver the speech by making him watch you deliver it with proper voice modulation. Ensure you have appropriate body language also, as the child will pick it up when he is delivering the speech.

2. Listen When Your Child Practises the Speech

Let your child memorise the content and practise many times so that he feels confident. Avoid stopping the speech in between, as it will break your child’s flow and stress him out. Listen patiently and share your inputs in the end. Also, if your child is ready to go over it again, ensure you encourage him instead of stopping him.

3. Practice in Front of a Mirror

Your child will learn to adjust his body language and facial expressions by practising in front of a mirror. So, ensure that he practices enough in front of a mirror and you will see an improvement. This trick will also help your child get rid of the initial hesitation or fear of delivering the speech.

Practice in Front of a Mirror

4. Gather an Audience

Once your child has mastered the speech, let him speak in front of his friends or at a gathering. This will give him the confidence to speak in front of many people.

5. Appreciate Your Child

Once your child masters the speech, ask him to deliver it. If he speaks confidently without making any mistakes, applaud him. Your praise will make him feel confident, and he will know that he is ready!

1. What are some creative ways to celebrate Teachers’ Day virtually?

In the digital age, celebrating Teachers’ Day virtually has become increasingly popular. Creative ideas include organizing a virtual talent show where students can showcase their skills in honor of their teachers, creating a collaborative digital thank-you card where each student adds a personalized message, or even setting up a surprise video call with students expressing their gratitude individually. Another idea is to curate a playlist of songs dedicated to teachers and share it during an online celebration.

2. How can students involve their parents in celebrating Teachers’ Day?

Students can involve their parents by organizing a joint celebration at home. This could include parents helping their children to prepare a special meal or dessert to share with teachers during a class celebration, creating handmade gifts or crafts together, or even recording a family video message of thanks. Parents can also participate in virtual events or help plan surprise activities for teachers.

3. Can Teachers’ Day be celebrated beyond the classroom?

Absolutely! Teachers’ Day can extend beyond the classroom through community activities. For example, students can organize a tree-planting event in honor of their teachers, dedicate a community service project to them, or host a public art display featuring drawings and messages of gratitude. Local businesses can also get involved by offering discounts or special offers to teachers in recognition of their hard work.

Teachers play a major role in shaping the minds of children. They inspire, motivate, influence, and encourage students to think differently. Hence, children should not hesitate to pay tribute to their teachers. And, a speech is the best way to convey your thoughts! With these tips and speech samples, you can help your child draft and deliver a remarkable speech on teachers’ day.

Speech on Respect in simple and easy words:

Speech on respect 1.

Respected Principal, Teachers and My Dear Students!

First of all, thank you for being a part of this celebration. We have gathered here to celebrate the annual day of our school and like every year, we will try our best to make this celebration the most memorable for all of you.

I would also like to thank the organizers for giving me the opportunity to host the program. As you all know our school is highly recognized on the international platform and it is one the top 10 schools in the state. The students who pass out from our school get admission in popular colleges and universities and hold quite decent positions in the highly recognized organizations.

The intelligence and general knowledge of our students are highly commendable. I would also urge each of the students of this school to cultivate respect for others. Respect as you all know is an encouraging feeling of admiration for an individual or entity. It shows the honor and kindness shown by a person towards others. It is very important that we respect each other for bringing harmony in the society and always remember that respect cannot be demanded, but earned. And, this respect is earned through our noble deeds and actions.

While it is important that we respect everyone we meet in our lives, it is equally important that we perform such deeds that can help us earn respect. Respect is the greatest asset which a person earns through his behavior and activities done for the office, home or for the community.

It is important that parents teach their kids to respect their elders, grandparents, teachers, their fellow friends and everyone living in their surroundings. Only then we will be able to build a positive society. Nowadays, people lose temper on small issues and indulge into altercations which turn out to be violent sometimes. If children are taught to forgive negligible matters and learn to respect the people around, they would grow up to be happier children.

It is also important for all of us to respect our atmosphere. We should be mindful not to throw garbage in the public place such as roads, parks, footpaths, etc. Children learn what they see; thus good habits must be inculcated by their respective parents and relatives of the children.

I would also like to focus on ‘respect for culture’. I understand that the world is getting globalized and countries are exchanging art, talents, culture, and traditions with each other. But that doesn’t allow anyone to disrespect our Indian culture. Indian culture is the oldest and one of the richest in the world. Today’s children are the future of our nation and thus they must ensure that people across the world respect India.

There is no specific definition of the term ‘respect’ nor is there any formula that would help you respect others. We respect those whom we love. But at times, we come across such people whom we must show respect without expecting anything in return. For e.g. if you are sitting while traveling in a public transport and you come across a disabled person; you must show respect and offer your seat to that person.

Such small deeds would help you earn a lot of respect in the society. Above all, you would start respecting yourself which would always help you lead your life positively.

Thank you for listening to me with so much patience. I wish all the very best to each one of you!

Speech on Respect 2

I welcome all of you to the program titled ‘Give respect in order to earn respect’. Great thanks to the organizers and supporters; without your support, this wouldn’t have been possible.

As you all know, our organization is a charity organization and we work for the old-age people who are outcasts, overlooked or left behind by their relatives. I have been associated with this organization for the last 10 years, since its inception. In these 10 years, the majority of the cases I have come across are related to the senior citizens disowned by their own son/s and family. This sounds strange in a country like India where we talk about preserving our culture, tradition, religion, and ethnicity.

We share numerous messages and quotations on the Parents’ Day, Father’s Day or Mother’s Day, but in reality we lack miserably on the basic ethics and morality. Respecting your parents is not a duty or obligation, it must, in fact, be your religion. Our parents apart from bringing us in this world do so much for us. They fulfill every need of their children and struggle every day to bring a smile on their faces. But when they grow old and when they need us the most, we get so occupied with ourselves that we hardly have time for them and this is the reason why there are so many old-age homes across the world.

My father always says that youngsters gave a lot of respect for seniors in the earlier days. In those days, the youngsters would not sit in front of their elders, forget about smoking or drinking. Sadly, the culture and consciousness of respecting one another are vanishing rapidly in our society in the present times.

In the name of privacy, we indulge in petty activities such as smoking, intoxication, drinking, etc. In the name of freedom, we stay out the entire night, don’t bother to inform our elders, skip meals and vanish for days and weeks without keeping anyone in the loop. This all happen because a majority of us have lost the sense of responsibility. We are becoming more and more impatient and have created a shell around us. If our elders try to knock that shell, we lose patience and behave irrationally like shouting, throwing objects, etc.

I would also like to point out the role of social media towards this transformation. Not that I am blaming the social platform for anything, but the fact remains that majority of people who use social media have become ‘disturb me not’ kind of people. Most of the men who come back home from a tiring day prefer checking out their instant chat messages and profiles of friends on social media instead of spending time with their family. Slowly this is becoming the tradition of almost every home and children today are growing up in this environment. Such children when grow older would not have respect for the real, but virtual people.

Until we develop a sense of love and responsibility towards others, we will not be able to respect others. Respecting others is not a favor you would do to anyone; in fact, you must give respect to others for getting respect in return. The sooner we realize it, the better.

Speech on Respect 3

Good Morning Respected Principal, Respected Teachers and My Dear Friends!

First of all, I would like to welcome all of you to this inspirational program and thank to all the team members who helped each other for organizing this event. I am Vaani from class XII and it is my honor to host this event. Today, this event has been organized especially for the students and their parents. This event is based on the importance of respect in our lives. For today students have prepared play, speeches and many more activities. So before beginning with their performances I would like to deliver a speech on respect as the starting of this event.

As we all know that in today’s world everybody is running after money. Everybody knows that money plays an important role in fulfilling our requirements but, money is also a mode of acquiring a good status in the society and a good status is a mode of acquiring respect among people. So, we can say that respect is a main objective that most of the people have in their whole lives. But we could not consider money as the only means of attaining respect because our behavior and what we do with other people tells us about our respect among them.

Almost everybody in this world wants to get respect. If we want to gain respect then it is very important other people respect also. For gaining respect, a person should understand that he could not ask everybody for respect but he has to earn it because respect can only be earned. A person could gain respect by doing good deeds or by such activities that have the potential of creating respect for him into another’s mind.

If we are talking about respect, then there are some important people in everyone’s life to whom we give so much respect such as our respected parents, grandparents, teachers, etc. These people hold a very important place in our life and in the heart as well. They are the most respected people in our lives.

Despite all these respected people in our lives, there are some people who by their inspirational lives and good deeds forces us to give them respect. Yes! I am talking about our respected soldiers and police because they are the reason for how our country is retaining freedom and independence. They are risking their lives for saving our lives. It is truly not an easy task of protecting such a huge country like ours. They are one of the biggest reasons behind our country’s respect in the entire world.

On this note, I would like conclude my speech and extend special thanks to our Hon’ble Principal ma’am, Teachers for supporting us for organizing this event as well as to all the parents who joined us in this event and for giving this event a great success. I would also like to thank my team members who organized this event with a unity.

Thank you and I wish you all a great day ahead!

Speech on Respect 4

Good Morning Respected Principal Ma’am, Manager Sir, Professors and My Dear Friends!

Today our college has organized a debate competition for all the students. I am Vaanika and it is my pleasure to host this competition. This debate competition has been especially organized for the students so that it will help them in conquering their hesitation and fear. The topic for today’s debate competition is ‘Respect Can Only Be Earned’. As we know that one team has to defend this line and another has to go against. But before moving further, I want to say a few words about respect.

As everybody knows that respect is something that almost everybody wants to have. The very important thing that every person should know is that if we want respect than we have to give respect to others also. Every person in this world gains respect on the basis of his/her deeds. If a person has a good behavior or a helping nature then it automatically forces other people to give him respect.

As we know that there are few most important people in our life to whom we should give respect. Yes, I am talking about our parents, teachers, grandparents and many other respected people around us. They are the one who teaches us how to give respect and how to gain respect. We respect our parents because they are the reason for our existence in this world and they do every possible struggle for us to keep us happy. Grandparents also play an important role in our lives. They are known as the most respective people in the house. Most of the grandparents are used to and also loves to take care of their grandchildren. During childhood, mostly children get more attached with their grandparents. But unfortunately, most of the parents and grandparents are neglected by their own children or grandchildren and they have to live their life in the old age homes. This is one of the most painful behave of the children who overlook their parents and grandparents at the time they need their support. Apart from getting respect from their children, they are overlooked and have to go to the old age homes.

Among all these respected people in our life, teachers also hold a very important place. A teacher shows the correct path to his student that leads the student to success. It is quite impossible to attain success without anybody’s guidance and there is no big guide in this world then a teacher. A good teacher makes his best possible efforts to make his student’s future bright. But after having a bright future, most of the students forget to thank their teachers. One should never forget his/her parents, teachers and every person from whom they supported.

So, if we really want to gain respect then firstly we have to respect others and especially our elders including parents, teachers and other elder people.

On this note, I would like to conclude my speech and extend special thanks to our hon’ble principal ma’am for giving us this opportunity to express our views in front of everybody.

Short Speech on Respecting Elders in English for Students and Children

3 minute speech on respecting elders for school and college students.

Good morning! Respected Principal, teachers and my dear companions, I stand before you to speak on the topic – ‘Respecting elders’.

A child is taught to respect elders by his parents at a very young age. Throughout school and college, he is constantly reminded of them while his personality develops. But still, we often forget to respect our elders. Respecting elders should come from within.

There are many ways to show respect to them. For example, elders feel happy and honored when we include them in the decision making of the family. They are more experienced than us. So we should always ask for their advice. They also have walked the same path before us.

Another way is listening to them and following the traditions, which they have lived up to. We should also frequently visit them and invite them to our house too. We should often sit and eat with them. All this will help us to recognize and appreciate our elders.

Always remember that a man is always judged by his actions and every word or action has a reaction. So start respecting elders by being polite and gentle, if you want to succeed and be happy in life.

In the end, I would like to say, our elders are really precious and we should cherish them, for where would we be without them!

Thank you for your time and patience.

When to Refer a Student for Speech Therapy

Many speech issues can be corrected with therapy, so it’s important that teachers know the signs of a potential problem.

Teacher listening to two students read a book

When you think of students receiving speech therapy, you probably think of a student who has difficulty pronouncing sounds. How many students have you had who say “wabbit” instead of “rabbit” or stutter? While these students may need help from the school speech therapist, let’s identify some other students who could benefit from a speech-language evaluation by looking at what speech-language pathologists (SLPs) target in the school setting and what to do if you think a student needs to be referred to your school’s SLP.

SLPs in schools work with students in many different areas:

  • Articulation for students who produce speech sounds incorrectly by substituting another sound or omitting the correct sound.
  • Fluency for students who stutter by repeating sounds, words, or phrases, or have other disfluencies in their speech, like taking long pauses between their words.
  • Receptive language for students who struggle to take in and understand what they hear. Students with receptive language disorders will often have difficulty following directions (not due to ADHD or other disorders), understanding information read to them, or following along during conversation.
  • Expressive language for students who have trouble expressing themselves either verbally or nonverbally through writing. There are many signs to watch for, such as trouble producing correct grammar or syntax or cohesively providing a narrative.
  • Pragmatics for students who are challenged by social language skills, such as entering, exiting, or maintaining a conversation; understanding nonliteral language like sarcasm, idioms, similes, or metaphors; or understanding social aspects of communication, such as nonverbal language (facial expressions, gestures, body language, etc.) or rules like turn-taking.

The following two areas are not often targeted in schools but are within SLPs’ scope of practice. Teachers who notice a student having these issues can refer them to their school’s SLP for help.

  • Voice for students who have a vocal quality that is too raspy, high, nasal, or otherwise disordered in a way that affects their communication.
  • Swallowing for students who often cough or seem to choke while eating or drinking or otherwise seem to have difficulty swallowing.

Reading is also within the scope of practice of SLPs, but these students are often best served by a reading specialist, dyslexia interventionist, or special education teacher. However, if your school does not have one of these amazing reading experts, you can certainly turn to your SLP.

Collecting Data

When you encounter a student who exhibits some speech or language concerns, what do you do first? This process can vary by school, and legally a referral can be made formally or informally. However, a good first step is to collect data to bring to the SLP or special education team. For instance, if you are concerned about a student’s expressive language, you want to have specific examples of what you are seeing in class. Do they have trouble producing full sentences? Is their sentence structure inappropriate for the grade level? Do they have trouble defining or describing common items? Having exact incidences of their errors is helpful, as well as providing written work that supports your observations.

It is important here to consider what a typical student of their age and grade level is capable of. Remember that “wabbit” kiddo from earlier? Would you be concerned if a pre-K student exhibited that articulation error? Probably not, right? However, if you saw that same error in a first grader, you would rightfully be concerned about their articulation skills and should consider making a referral.

A word of caution: Remember that all people speak in a particular dialect, and a dialect is inherently different from a disorder. Many of our students use a dialect that does not follow the rules of Standard American English, but that does not make it any less valid a communication style. Therefore, a student who says “toof” instead of “tooth” or “What you wanna do?” instead of “What do you wanna do?” may not need to be referred if their speech and/or language patterns are consistent with their dialect.

Reaching out to an SLP

Once you have collected data that demonstrates a student’s area(s) of weakness, the next step is to present that to your school’s SLP or to a member of the special education team if your school does not directly employ a speech therapist. Once they have that information, they should schedule a referral conference to obtain consent from the student’s parent or guardian to conduct an evaluation.

If therapy is warranted, an individualized education program (IEP) will be put in place for speech therapy. In all IEP conferences, a general education teacher is a required participant. Your presence is not only legally mandated but vital when determining the student’s strengths and weaknesses.

After consent is obtained and the evaluation is conducted, another meeting will be held with the IEP team to review the results and determine placement. If the student demonstrates a need for speech services, then the team will make decisions regarding minutes, placement, and goals. While writing the IEP, input from the general education teacher regarding the curriculum and grade-level standards is crucial in ensuring that the IEP is appropriate for this particular student.

As educators, we are our students’ best advocates. Classroom teachers are indispensable to those of us in special education, as they are the ones who know their students best and are often the first to identify students who are struggling. We need you to help identify the students who may need some extra assistance. Let’s work together to ensure that all students are receiving what they need to be successful.

Speech on Responsibility

Responsibility: a simple word, yet it carries profound meaning. It’s about your duties, your roles, and the consequences of your actions. You may already know this, but let’s explore it further.

Responsibility isn’t just about chores or homework. It’s also about making choices that affect others. Let’s journey together to understand more about it.

1-minute Speech on Responsibility

Good day to all!

Let’s talk about ‘Responsibility’. Responsibility is a big word, isn’t it? But it’s not as scary as it sounds. It simply means doing what we are supposed to do. It’s about taking care of our actions and choices. When we make a promise, we keep it. When we start a task, we finish it. That’s responsibility.

Think about keeping your room tidy. That’s a small responsibility. But when we do it, we show that we can take care of our things. We respect our space and the people we share it with. Even this small act shows we understand the value of responsibility.

Often, we don’t like taking responsibility. It seems hard, and we fear making mistakes. But remember, mistakes are not bad, they help us learn. When we admit our mistakes, we are being responsible. It shows we are brave enough to accept them and learn.

Lastly, remember, responsibility is like a muscle. The more we use it, the stronger it gets. Start with small tasks. As you get better, take on bigger tasks. One day, you’ll find, you can handle any job, big or small.

In conclusion, responsibility is not just a big word. It’s a key to success. It’s about respect, courage, and teamwork. So let’s promise today, we’ll be more responsible. Not because we have to, but because we want to.

Also check:

2-minute Speech on Responsibility

Let’s talk about responsibility. What is it? It’s like a promise we make to ourselves and others. A promise to do the right things, to take care of what needs to be done. But it’s more than that. It’s about being brave enough to accept when we’ve done something wrong and strong enough to make it right.

Now, think of responsibility as a seed. Just like a tiny seed can grow into a big, strong tree, our small acts of responsibility can grow into something much bigger. When we clean up our room, finish our homework on time, or help out with chores, these are small seeds of responsibility. And with time, they grow. They make us better students, better friends, better family members.

But responsibility isn’t just about doing chores or homework. It’s also about how we treat others. When we are kind to our friends, when we help our classmates, when we respect our teachers, we show responsibility. We show that we understand how our actions affect others. We show that we are thinking not just about ourselves, but about the people around us too.

Responsibility is also about taking care of our world. We have a duty to protect our earth, our home. When we throw our trash in the bin, turn off the lights when we leave a room, or use less water when we brush our teeth, we show responsibility. We show that we care about our planet and that we want to keep it safe for everyone.

Yet, responsibility comes with its own challenges. Sometimes, it can be hard. We might want to play instead of doing our homework, or we might find it easier to blame others for our mistakes. But remember, responsibility is like a muscle. The more we use it, the stronger it gets. And just like a strong muscle can help us run faster or jump higher, a strong sense of responsibility can help us reach our dreams and goals.

Tim Walz's son Gus has a learning disorder. Can his visibility help disabled Americans?

speech on topic respect of teachers

CHICAGO – When Jessica Anacker was in junior high, a teacher pulled her out of English class one day after she was bullied by a student because of her learning disability.

Instead of disciplining the tormenter, “she blamed me for being bullied,” Anacker said.

An angry Anacker fired back, telling the teacher, “It’s your job to take care of it.”

Now president of the Texas Democrats With Disabilities caucus and a delegate at this week’s Democratic National Convention , Anacker is thrilled that there could soon be someone to "take care of" such issues at the highest level of government.

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz , Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris ' running mate, has spoken openly and lovingly about his 17-year-old son, Gus, who has ADHD , along with a nonverbal learning disorder and an anxiety disorder. Walz and his wife, Gwen, both former teachers, said recently in a statement to People magazine that they never considered Gus’ conditions an obstacle.

"Like so many American families, it took us time to figure out how to make sure we did everything we could to make sure Gus would be set up for success as he was growing up," the couple said.

"It took time, but what became so immediately clear to us was that Gus’ condition is not a setback − it’s his secret power," they said.

When Walz delivered his acceptance speech inside the packed United Center arena Wednesday night, Gus watched from the audience with his mother and sister, Hope, and sobbed.

"That's my dad!" he exclaimed.

From the stage, Walz honored his family. “Hope, Gus and Gwen – you are my entire world, and I love you,” he said.

Gus Walz sprung from his seat, moved by his father's words.

He pointed his index finger, saying "I love you, Dad."

Advocates for Americans with learning disabilities believe the Walz family's openness about their son and their willingness to speak publicly about the experience will raise much-needed visibility that could help others who are going through similar experiences.

“It’s a good thing when people in politics, who are running for office, are comfortable discussing disability issues and don’t view it as a topic that is taboo or something that we shouldn’t discuss,” said Zoe Gross, director of advocacy for the Washington-based Autistic Self Advocacy Network.

When public figures are open about their experiences with disability or those of their family, that can lead more people to feel comfortable disclosing their own disabilities or talking about their family’s experiences, Gross said.

“That’s helpful,” she said, “because in order to talk about the needs of the disability community, we need to be comfortable discussing disability as a society, just like we talk about the needs of any marginalized population.”

'Now is the time': Democrats again dream of electing female president after Hillary Clinton's loss

In a sign of how important the Harris-Walz campaign views disability rights, Gwen Walz made a surprise appearance Tuesday at a meeting of disability advocates at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago. She made no mention of her son during her brief remarks but said her husband believes strongly “that every student and every person deserves a chance to get ahead.”

Walz is not the first vice presidential nominee who has a child with a disability. Sarah Palin , the Republican nominee in 2008, has a son, Trig, who has Down syndrome. Trig was an infant when his mother was running for vice president. Palin cradled him in her arms on stage after delivering her acceptance speech at the Republican National Convention. Amy Coney Barrett, appointed to the Supreme Court in 2020, also has a son with Down syndrome.

'Fighting spirit': LGBTQ voters see hope in Harris campaign amid attacks from right

In their statement to People magazine, Tim and Gwen Walz said they noticed Gus’ special abilities at an early age.

"When our youngest Gus was growing up, it became increasingly clear that he was different from his classmates," they said. "Gus preferred video games and spending more time by himself."

When he was becoming a teenager, they learned that in addition to an anxiety disorder, he has attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, or ADHD, a brain development condition that starts in childhood and is marked by trouble with maintaining attention, hyperactivity and impulse control difficulties.

ADHD in adults is relatively common and affects between 139 million and 360 million people worldwide, according to the Cleveland Clinic. With treatment, people usually have limited effects from it.

Can she keep this up? Kamala Harris energizes Democrats and shakes up presidential race

Anacker, the Texas delegate at the Democratic convention, said it’s important for people with ADHD and other learning disabilities to have people in positions of power advocate on their behalf.

Anacker is neurodivergent , a nonmedical term used to describe people whose brains develop or work differently from most people. She also has a speech impediment and dysgraphia, a neurological condition in which people have difficulty turning their thoughts into written language.

In high school, she remembers dissolving into tears because she couldn’t draw a picture of a frog during science class. As an adult, she has never been fully employed, she said, because employers have a difficult time making accommodations for her disability.

No matter who wins the election in November, advocates hope the needs of Americans with disabilities will become a priority for the next administration.

Gross’ group, for example, would like to see expanded home and community-based services through Medicaid, which she said is one of the most urgent issues facing Americans with autism. Many states have long waiting lists for such services, and people who provide those services are underpaid, which leads to huge staff turnover, Gross said.

In addition, advocates hope to see an expansion of employment services, a realignment of government research to focus more on quality-of-life issues, and a federal ban on use of seclusion or restraints in public schools except in cases when they are needed to prevent physical danger, like stopping someone from running into a busy street.

Sen. Tammy Duckworth , an Iraq War veteran who lost both of her legs and partial use of her right arm when her Black Hawk helicopter was hit by a grenade, said Walz’s openness about his son will benefit all Americans with disabilities.

“For so long, disability was a hidden thing – you took care of your loved ones, but you didn’t talk about it publicly,” Duckworth, D-Ill., said after speaking to disability advocates at the Democratic convention. “Many disabled people stayed in the home, are not out in the workplace, and we really need to normalize those people with disabilities in a normal society so that you can get the job, you can show people you can do the job.”

Regardless of the election outcome in November, Walz is already spotlighting ADHD and other learning disabilities just by talking about his son during the campaign , advocates said.

“We love our Gus,” Tim and Gwen Walz said in their statement. “We are proud of the man he’s growing into, and we are so excited to have him with us on this journey."
