Did you ever storm your mind on how education can change the world? Let me present my own opinions. First of all, Education eliminates inequality in society making everyone equal. This will eradicate unreasonable clashes among people.

Second, It provides you with the ability to read and write. So, you can acquire knowledge from books whenever you want & whatever you want. It means you are open to each field’s knowledge all the time.

Third, It gives you a sense of communication that refines one’s speech. Number four, It increases the chances of getting a high-paying job making you employed and achieving a secure life. Number five, education gives you the sense to understand the value of discipline, time and ethnicity. It gives the capability to make a balance in life.

I presented some effects of education on an individual but I also have a list of how education can impact societies. Do correct me in between if I am wrong.

Now it is a turn to talk at a level of a country means how a country is impacted by education. A solid educational system acts for the good of the country. A country is largely judged by its education system and economy.

Any nation is developing day by day just because of its education and technology. Educated people know the difference between a genuine and a corrupt leader for their country.

Educated people understand why to vote for a party to make a positive resolution to the country’s growth. Due to the lack of education, people are left unemployed revealing the cheap level of the economic status of a country. The pathetic situation of a country prevents its growth and improvement. This is the theoretical definition of what the term Education implies. However, in practice, Education encompasses a holistic and wholesome training and development of an individual. Education is how an individual possesses knowledge about various aspects in life, becomes empowered and acquires the ability to think freely and uniquely.

Education is imparted to us in kindergarten, high school and throughout till university. But even apart from that, our very own lives teach us lessons. It is via the experience gathered in living daily life, through which we learn some of the most important and toughest lessons about life and existence. Education is essential because it leads to the development of the mind and the intellect. Education can hence be defined as a mode which helps in the overall growth and framing of an individual’s personality and intellectual potentiality. Keeping this view of Education in mind, we can well conclude that it is an essential phenomenon, and each human being should have the right to access proper and definitive Education.

The primary objective of Education is to impart knowledge. Education also has its fair share in building the thinking capacity of people’s minds. Hence, Education supplies people with knowledge and facts and also encourages them to integrate that acquired knowledge into practical and professional lives via necessary training. Education, thus, also plays a primary role in supporting the economic, social and cultural sector of a country.

The need to learn, develop and implement is yet another goal which Education fulfils. Apart from imparting knowledge, people are also vested in civic and social responsibilities. Education makes people aware of their duties and what is ethical and unethical in life. Training also helps in emotional integration. In a literary community, there exist no petty issues such as meaningless and irrational conflicts and contradictions. This adds doubly to your credit if your speech is on a seemingly monotonous topic like education where the audience enters with certain expectations about the speech already in place.

You can bridge this gap in a couple of ways. One would be making a personal connection or making them see that you are similar in certain aspects. This can be done by using humor, incorporating stories, or even making a pop culture reference. You can also open with a shared goal or interest.

4. Open With A Show Of Hands 

Another great way to open your speech is by asking questions–particularly show of hands questions. 

This works in two ways: asking the question piques your audience’s attention and gets their thoughts rolling. On the other hand, show-of-hands provides them with a chance to move their body, which aids in making them more aware of their surroundings i.e you.

5. Open With An Image Or Prop 

Images tell stories. And stories, as mentioned above, are one of the best ways to open your speech.

Title: The Missing Ramp

On a school field trip in grade 3, I met my long lost twin. Or so I thought, anyway. The boy I met wasn’t actually my twin by blood. But he was my exact replica in every other aspect: from the color of our hair and eyes to the kind of jokes we liked to make and the cartoons we loved to watch and the fact that we both felt a little out of place in the big strange world. We were similar in more aspects than we could count, more than I can remember now. However, we were significantly different in one important aspect: While I was a ten year old, happy-go-lucky kid that hated going to school, he was a ten year old, happy go-lucky kid for whom school was a distant dream. You see, Andrew–the boy I thought was my twin–had a locomotor disability. He had to use a weelchair to be able to move around. However, there was only one school in our little town, and the school had no ramps or elevators, making it impossible for him to navigate by himself the five floors that it comprised. Not only this, but there were no washrooms available for him, either. His mother could not afford to lose her job in town, not with the already soaring cost of his treatement. Her meagre salary meant that a private tutor was out of question. Besides, she thought, what was the point of uprooting her entire life to move to another town or city when–according to her–there was no point in educating her child when he could not do anything with it? And so, despite the fact that he was perfectly capable of learning at par with the rest of us, Andrew never got an education. Imagine that. Imagine being unable to go to school when all the other kids around you are doing so because the school does not have a ramp. It sounds absurd, right? However strange or unreal it may sound, it’s the reality of the lives of many, many children with disabilities. It’s not that they’re unwilling to learn or their parents are unwilling to send them to school. It’s the lack of facilities–many of which the rest of us take for granted–which make it impossible for them to attend school. And even when the facilities are available. Even then, many, many children with disabilites are unable to achieve the education that is their basic right. An estimated one in three out-of-school children have a disability. There are between 93 million and 150 million children with disabilities worldwide. And yet, WHO estimates that in many, many countries across the world, having a disability more than doubles the chances of a child never attending school. While accessibility remains the key factor that inhibits children with disabilities from attending school, there are many, many other factors that come into play. Inflexible teacher training & support is another factor that comes into play. As does inflexible curriculum and poor structure and plan. However, another key factor that prevents children with disabilites from attending school has less to do with the physical elements of education, and more with the mindset and mentality of other people. That is, it has to do with the attitude of children and teachers in school towards children with disabilites. Often, children with disabilites are scorned and made fun of by their peers. And this is not limited to students alone. The teachers, too, might share a callous attitiude and be inflexible in their approach. I had a teacher in my school who refused to change her ‘ alphabetical seating plan’ to allow a deaf girl sit in the first bench so that she could lip-read her instructions. What this means is that many times, the children themseleves might not be willing to go to school from the fear of how their peers and teachers might react to or treat them. While delivering speeches about making education accessible to all or how it is the fundamental right of every person, we tend to make grand statements and all the big steps that we need to–or should–take in order to actually make education more accessible to people. And yet, while making all those grandoise proclamations, we often overlook the little steps that each and every single one of us needs to take. In seeing the ‘big picture’, we ignore the all the little snapshots that go into making it. And yet, it is this little things that make the most difference. A missing ramp–that’s all it took to make a child miss out on his dream of going to school. I don’t think any words sum up my words better than something Annie Campbell said: “We can teach our children to flap their wings, but conditions have to be just right for them to fly.” Our children are ready to take the leap and fly. Now it is upon us to determine what the sky will be like: full or rain or brimming with sunshine.

Jobs are not that easy to come by these days – even for people with degrees. But there’s statistically a higher chance of you getting a job if you have a higher education.

The 2017 report Education Pays: The Benefits of Higher Education for Individuals and Society found that people with higher education have lower rates of unemployment.

In 2015, younger people (ages 25 – 34) with bachelor’s degrees had an unemployment rate of 2.6%. High school graduates of the same age range had an unemployment rate of 8.1 percent.

That’s a huge difference that underscores the correlation between education and employability.

The Government has thereby taken initiatives to improve education quality and made it accessible to everyone, especially the poor people.

The Government passed the Right to Education Act 2009 (RTE Act 2009) on 4 August 2009. This Act came into effect on 1 April 2010, following which education has become the fundamental right of every child in India. It provides free and compulsory elementary education to children of the age group of 6-14 years in a neighbourhood school within 1 km, up to Class 8 in India. On similar lines, there are other schemes launched by the government, such as Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan , Mid-Day Meal , Adult Education and Skill Development Scheme, National Means cum Merit Scholarship Scheme, National Program for Education of Girls at Elementary Education, Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya, Scheme for Infrastructure Development in Minority Institutions, Beti Bachao , Beti Padhao, etc.

Speaker 1: When I was young, my family lived overseas. I lived in Indonesia for a few years. And my mother, she didn't have the money to send me where all the American kids went to school. But she thought it was important for me to keep up with an American education. So she decided to teach me extra lessons herself, Monday through Friday. But because she had to go to work, the only time she could do it was at 4.30 in the morning. But whenever I'd complain, my mother would just give me one of those looks, and she'd say, this is no picnic for me either, Buster. So I know that some of you are still adjusting to being back at school. But I'm here today because I have something important to discuss with you. My father left my family when I was two years old, and I was raised by a single mom who had to work, and who struggled at times to pay the bills, and wasn't always able to give us the things that other kids had. There were times when I missed having a father in my life. There were times when I was lonely and I felt like I didn't fit in. So I wasn't always as focused as I should have been on school. And I did some things that I'm not proud of, and I got in more trouble than I should have. And my life could have easily taken a turn for the worse. But I was lucky. I got a lot of second chances, and I had the opportunity to go to college and law school and follow my dreams. And my wife, our first lady, Michelle Obama, she has a similar story. Neither of her parents had gone to college, and they didn't have a lot of money. But they worked hard, and she worked hard, so that she could go to the best schools in this country. Some of you might not have those advantages. Maybe you don't have adults in your life who give you the support that you need. Maybe someone in your family has lost their job and there's not enough money to go around. Maybe you live in a neighborhood where you don't feel like you're going to be able to make a living. Maybe you live in a neighborhood where you don't feel safe or have friends who are pressuring you to do things you know aren't right. Maybe you could be a great writer. Maybe even good enough to write a book or articles in a newspaper, but you might not know it until you write that English class paper that's assigned to you. Maybe you could be an innovator or an inventor, maybe even good enough to come up with the next iPhone or the new medicine or vaccine. But you might not know it until you write that English class paper that's assigned to you. You might not know it until you do your project for your science class. Maybe you could be a mayor or a senator or a supreme court justice, but you might not know that until you join student government or the debate team. And no matter what you want to do with your life, I guarantee that you'll need an education to do it. You want to be a doctor or a teacher or a police officer? You want to be a nurse or an architect? A lawyer or a member of our military? You're going to need a good education for every single one of those careers. You cannot drop out of school and just drop into a good job. You've got to train for it and work for it and learn for it. And this isn't just important for your own life and your own future. What you make of your education will decide nothing less than the future of this country. The future of America depends on you. What you're learning in school today will determine whether we as a nation can meet our greatest challenges in the future. You'll need the knowledge and problem-solving skills you learn in science and math to cure diseases like cancer and AIDS, and to develop new energy technologies and protect our environment. You'll need the insights and critical thinking skills you gain in history and social studies to fight poverty and homelessness, crime and discrimination, and make our nation more fair and more free. You'll need the creativity and ingenuity you develop in all your classes to build new companies that will create new jobs and boost our economy. We need every single one of you to develop your talents and your skills and your intellect so you can help us old folks solve our most difficult problems. If you don't do that, if you quit on school, you're not just quitting on yourself, you're quitting on your country. I know it's not always easy. It's not always easy to do well in school. I know a lot of you have challenges in your lives right now that can make it hard to focus on your schoolwork. I get it. I know what it's like. But at the end of the day, the circumstances of your life, what you look like, where you come from, how much money you have, what you've got going on at home, none of that is an excuse for neglecting your homework or having a bad attitude in school. That's no excuse for talking back to your teacher. That's no excuse for talking back to your teacher. That's no excuse for talking back to your teacher. That's no excuse for talking back to your teacher or cutting class or dropping out of school. There is no excuse for not trying. Where you are right now doesn't have to determine where you'll end up. No one's written your destiny for you. Because here in America, you write your own destiny. You make your own future. That's what young people like you are doing every day all across America. That's why today I'm calling on each of you to set your own goals for your education and do everything you can to meet them. Your goal can be something as simple as doing all your homework, paying attention in class, or spending some time each day reading a book. Maybe you'll decide to get involved in an extracurricular activity or volunteer in your community. Maybe you'll decide to stand up for kids who are being teased or bullied because of who they are or how they look. Because you believe, like I do, that all you do is work. Young people deserve a safe environment to study and learn. Maybe you'll decide to take better care of yourself so you can be more ready to learn. But whatever you resolve to do, I want you to commit to it. I want you to really work at it. I know that sometimes you get that sense from TV that you can be rich and successful without any hard work. That your ticket to success is through rapping or basketball or being a reality TV star. I know that sometimes you get that sense from TV that you can be rich and successful without any hard work. But whatever you resolve to do, I want you to commit to it. Because you believe, like I do, that all you do is work. Maybe you'll decide to stand up for kids who are being teased or bullied because of who they are or how they look like. Chances are, you are not going to be any of those things. The truth is, being successful is hard. You won't love every subject that you study. You won't click with every teacher that you have. Not every homework assignment will seem completely relevant to your life right at this minute. try. That's okay. Some of the most successful people in the world are the ones who've had the most failures. J.K. Rawlings, who wrote Harry Potter, her first Harry Potter book was rejected 12 times before it was finally published. Michael Jordan was cut from his high school basketball team. He lost hundreds of games and missed thousands of shots during his career, but he once said, I have failed over and over and over again in my life, and that's why I succeed. These people succeeded because they understood that you can't let your failures define you. You have to let your failures teach you. You have to let them show you what to do differently the next time. So if you get into trouble, that doesn't mean you're a troublemaker. It means you need to try harder to act right. If you get a bad grade, that doesn't mean you're stupid. It just means you need to spend more time studying. No one's born being good at all things. You become good at things through hard work. You're not a varsity athlete the first time you play a new sport. You don't hit every note the first time you sing a song. You've got to practice. The same principle applies to your schoolwork. You might have to do a math problem a few times before you get it right. You might have to read something a few times before you understand it. You definitely have to do a few drafts of a paper before it's good enough to hand in. Don't be afraid to ask questions. Don't be afraid to ask for help when you need it. I do that every day. Asking for help isn't a sign of weakness. It's a sign of strength because it shows you have the courage to admit when you don't know something, and that then allows you to learn something new. So find an adult that knows you. you trust, a parent, a grandparent, or a teacher, a coach, or a counselor, and ask them to help you stay on track to meet your goals. And even when you're struggling, even when you're discouraged, and you feel like other people have given up on you, don't ever give up on yourself. Because when you give up on yourself, you give up on your country. The story of America isn't about people who quit when things got tough. It's about people who kept going, who tried harder, who loved their country too much to do anything less than their best. It's the story of students who sat where you sit 250 years ago and went on to wage a revolution and they founded this nation. Young people. Students who sat where you sit 75 years ago, who overcame a depression and won a world war. Who fought for civil rights and put a man on the moon. Students who sat where you sit 20 years ago. Who founded Google and Twitter and Facebook and changed the way we communicate with each other. So today, I want to ask all of you, what's your contribution going to be? What problems are you going to solve? What discoveries will you make? What will a president who comes here in 20 or 50 or 100 years say about what all of you did for this country? Your families, your teachers, and I are doing everything we can to make sure you stay on your toes. I want to make sure you have the education you need to answer these questions. I'm working hard to fix up your classrooms and get you the books and the equipment and the computers you need to learn. But you've got to do your part too. So I expect all of you to get serious this year. I expect you to put your best effort into everything you do. I expect great things from each of you. So don't let us down. Don't let your family down. Don't let your country down. Most of all, don't let yourself down. Make us all proud.

Fixing the foundations of opportunity: Education Secretary speech

Thank you so much. I’m so pleased to be here with you today at the launch of such an important report. 

And the temptation with reports like these, the ones that deal in international comparisons, is to try and score cheap political points by doing each other down. 

But I think that’s a mistake. They are a chance for collaboration, not competition. Partnership, not rivalry. 

Educational standards, opportunity itself, is a shared global endeavour. I want countries to come together to educate our children to form, not just the citizens, but the society of tomorrow. 

And so I’d like to thank the OECD for this excellent report. And I’d also like to thank the Sutton Trust for hosting us today.  

And I know that Sir Peter Lampl – you are stepping down as chair soon.  

And I know that you’ve spent the last quarter of a century campaigning tirelessly to level the playing field where it comes to access to education and career opportunities, so that no young person is held back by their background.  

So thank you for all that you have done, Peter. I was going to wish you a happy retirement from your role, but it sounds like you’ve got lots of plans lined up and lots that you intend to achieve in the months and years to come.  

I’m an optimist. So I want to be positive, but I do have to be honest about the inheritance of a new government.

And as data published today shows, around a third of children leaving primary school do not meet the expected standard in reading, writing and maths following assessment. 

There are pockets across our country where only every other child is leaving primary school meeting the expected standard in reading, writing and maths. 

Lurking beneath all of these separate challenges is a common denominator of distress: child poverty – the stain on our society that has seeped into the fabric of far too many families.  

One in 10 pupils in this country miss at least a meal a month because their parents can’t afford to buy food. 

Back in August I visited a sixth form college in Manchester for level 3 results day.  

And during that visit I sat down with teachers to listen to their reflections on what it is to be a teacher today.  

One told me that he had been a teacher for over a decade. But in that time his job had changed beyond all recognition. 

With more and more kids bringing out of school issues into the classroom, his role had expanded.  

The children’s need for pastoral support took up so much more of his time. 

More and more children were prevented from learning in his lessons because they were hungry, or because of other problems at home.  

Despite that teacher’s best efforts, going far beyond his job description, the life chances of those children were shrinking. 

As politicians we like to talk about our own story. 

But proud as we may be of that, too often the story of why some of us make it to stand on platforms like this today, while others never get that chance, is not one of hard work and talent. 

It’s one of luck, and all too often of bad luck.  

That’s the story for those children in that teacher’s classroom in Manchester, and thousands of other classrooms across the country.  

The ones arriving too hungry to learn.  

The ones arriving too tired to concentrate.  

The ones arriving not having done their homework because they don’t have a quiet space at home. 

Whereas others arrive ready and raring to go – and in the evenings they go back to homes where they are encouraged to continue learning, where their education is prized. 

Nowhere is the stickiness of these disparities clearer than in the persistence of poverty, infecting generation after generation.  

It takes five full generations for families in poverty just to reach average pay in the UK. 

And in today’s Britain, it’s the luck of your background, rather than how hard you work, that all too often delivers success. 

And the British people know it: three in four of adults agree that a person’s background influences their outcomes in life.  

The foundations of opportunity in Britain may be rotten.  

But aspiration – that desire to achieve and to succeed – is in rude health.  

It isn’t just the reserve of the wealthy, even if the opportunity to fulfil those aspirations remains rationed to a lucky minority. 

Working people want to know that success belongs to them, to look into the eyes of their children and grandchildren and tell them that if they work hard, they’ll be able to get on and have a good life.  

So this government is on an urgent mission to make that a reality once more… 

… an urgent mission to fix the foundations of opportunity 

… to restore the heritage of hope passed from generation to generation. 

It can be done.  

But to do it we must eradicate child poverty from our society.  

That’s why I came into politics, that’s why I’m proud to be leading the new government’s child poverty taskforce as co-chair, together with the Work and Pensions Secretary. 

Work has already begun, we held our first meeting of the taskforce last month, and we’ll publish our strategy in the spring.   

I’m glad to see that the theme of today’s report is equity in education.  

Tackling child poverty is one piece of the puzzle – and it’s a top priority for this parliament. But fixing the foundations of opportunity demands equity in education too. 

For this new government, it means high and rising standards across the length and breadth of education: 

Not for some of our children, but for all of our children 

Not in some of our schools, but in all of our schools 

Not just in London and the south east, but right across our nation 

Every village, every town, every city on the map. Every child, every young person, every adult in this country. 

And to do that we need great teachers – the ones who inspire, who guide, who shape the futures of all of their students. 

They are vital to our opportunity mission, so we’re restoring teaching as the profession of choice for the very best graduates and recruiting 6,500 new expert teachers. 

That’s why we’re giving teachers and school leaders a 5.5% pay award, starting this academic year. 

Great teachers in every classroom – that’s one way we’re fixing the foundations of opportunity.  

But our opportunity is about parents as well as children – it’s about families.  

We need to get early education and childcare right – so that all children get the very best start in life and all parents get the power to pursue their careers.  

But, as your report shows, the gap in enrolment in childcare between rich families and poor families in the UK is one of the biggest in the OECD.  

So how can we spread opportunity more widely? 

Part of the answer does lie in the childcare rollout.  

And I’m delighted that last week hundreds of thousands of working parents started receiving 15 funded hours for their young children for the first time.  

And I was pleased to confirm that the 2025 childcare commitment to increase this to 30 funded hours will go ahead.  

We have worked tirelessly this summer alongside childcare providers to deliver the promises government made, because trust in government is vital. 

That of course means being open about the scale of the challenge to roll out this commitment in full.  

It won’t be simple. It won’t be easy.  

But I will work with our parents and workforce to see it through. 

All of early years education is vital for our mission, not just childcare. 

Those first steps into education are so important for a child’s life chances.  

And the sad truth is that a significant part of the attainment gap is already baked in by the age of 5. 

But what happens next in a child’s life, what they are taught in the classroom, is vital too. 

So we are bringing together expert education leaders and staff in an expert-led review to help us deliver a cutting-edge curriculum fit for the future. 

True equity in education requires breadth and depth, and ours has been thin and shallow for too long.  

A foundation in reading, writing and maths, yes.  

Of course.  

But let’s go further. I want every child in our country to benefit from the wonders of music, sport, art and drama.  

A curriculum that reflects the issues and diversities of our society, ensuring that every child is represented.  

Never compromising on standards in the basics.  

Quite the opposite.  

That’ll be the strength with which we drive high and rising standards for all of our children.  

Those standards must be for each and every child.  

When they slip, it’s not middle-class parents who miss out – they can pay for tutors to pick up the slack.  

It’s the children without support at home who fall further behind. 

To deliver those standards in all our schools we need an accountability system that is fit for purpose.  

A system built on support, and focused on driving improvement at the earliest point.  

High standards, not high stakes.  

Broad and rich, not narrow and reductive. 

And last week I took the first steps to reform accountability. I announced the end of single headline Ofsted grades for state-funded schools, with immediate effect.  

Instead, a clearer, broader, more transparent report card approach, in place by September ‘25.  

Equity in education, from early years up to university and beyond, is the seed for opportunity in our society.  

We can’t focus just on one part of the system, one area of the country, one group of people.  

We can’t let excellence in education be the reserve of a lucky few.  

It has to be for all, for everyone, forever.  

Now I said before that I’m an optimistic person. And even given the challenge ahead, I am optimistic. 

I believe that this country’s best days lie ahead of us; that our country with its proud history can have a brighter future yet. 

September signals the end of summer, but a new beginning for education.  

The work to fix the foundations, to build a new nation of opportunity, has now begun.
