The Best Present Anyone Could Give Me on Mother's Day

Every Mother's Day that I've been fortunate to experience as a mother to my son, I get asked what I want. The problem is, what I want can not be purchased. Sure, some flowers or a mimosa would be nice , but what I really want is to not be stressed by the simple act of getting out of the house or planning a meal. That's why, this Mother's Day what I really want is time , the kind I used to take for granted.

Keep in mind, I'm not asking for time away from my kid. I genuinely feel like I get enough of that throughout the year, and my husband and I make a concerted effort to give each other personal space. While a little bit of privacy on my Mother's Day sounds great — maybe I can actually use the bathroom in peace for once — it's not what I'm talking about when I say I want more time. What I really want is for time to slow its roll and to stop feeling stressed and anxious about getting places and doing things. You know, the same kind of leisurely approach to activities that people without kids get to experience.

Weekends in my 20s were largely spent sleeping in, going to breakfast, and letting the day dictate the pace. Some Sundays would be more active than others, but largely, I had the freedom to go as fast or as slow as I wanted. I brunched , I ran, I napped, and I hung out, enjoying the sunshine and enjoying my time.

The obvious difference, of course, is that in my 20s I was child-free, and I was my own boss. Now, my day is largely controlled by my almost 3 year old, which is how it should be. As a stay-at-home mom, every day I plan events for him, trying to navigate the need for bathroom breaks, educational functions, and ways for him to get his sillies out. Before, I would just get my own butt in gear if I wanted to leave by a certain time, but with a child, I know have to plan at least an extra half hour to get him packed up, dressed, pottied, and out the door. It's stressful and often makes me feel like I have no control of time. When this happens, it's hard to remember that these days with my young one are precious .

I realize that what I'm asking for is impossible. There is no slowing of time, unless my husband has been secretly working on a time machine in our basement, but I feel like I would have heard something at this point. No, there is no way to slow time, and there isn't any way to return to the way things once were, nor would I want to. I love my life, my family, and all of those crazy moments.

So maybe it's not time that needs to slow on Mother's Day, but me. Leisurely moments can be had with a kid , where the day determines what we do, and I'm not a ball of stress trying to leave the house for any particular event. Who cares if it takes longer than I would have liked to wrestle my toddler to get his shoes on. After all, these daily struggles are part of the memories I will look back on later and miss. If my perspective changes, maybe I can trick my mind into thinking time is actually slowing down. This Mother's Day, more important than flowers or homemade pasta art, this is all I want. That, and maybe a big glass of wine .

The Only Mother’s Day Gift I Want

(Girls Trip Movie)

(Girls Trip Movie)

 By Leslie Price

I feel truly conflicted about Mother’s Day. I do enjoy flowers and cards, but attaching the word “mother” or “mom” to something is like tying a bowling ball to it; such is the weight of the baggage and social pressure that comes along for the ride.

When I googled “hate Mother’s Day,” there were plenty of essays covering this feeling. I don’t  hate  it, but I also don’t love it.  Like “ Teacher Appreciation Week ,” Mother’s Day feels like a limp consolation prize.

Maybe this makes me a weirdo, but I disliked being called mom from the start. I don’t mean by my daughter: I mean by the random man who yelled out “mom!” as I passed him on the street with the baby strapped to me soon after her birth. Or the pediatrician who didn’t bother to call me by my name, because mom would suffice.  It felt like they were trying to erase my identity ? Mom, a sentient lump of flesh. Mom, the person who would wear unflattering jeans and dated hairstyles and would fasten the car-seat straps and pack the school lunch and clean up the bedroom and do the laundry and schedule the dentist appointment and on and on.

I discovered the best Mother’s Day gift years ago when a group of friends (mostly moms with one non-mom) started convening once yearly at a predetermined destination for a weekend away from it all. We had all met in New York but had since scattered and it was a nice way to reconnect with old friends and my old identity. And one year, the trip just happened to fall over Mother’s Day weekend.

The most wonderful thing about these trips wasn’t the meals or exploring. It was that liminal time between lunch and dinner when we could just laze about. Sometimes people even napped! This was revelatory. In my day-to-day life there was no room for lazing or napping anymore. Relaxing happened maybe after she went to sleep; but even then, there was work to be done — food prep, tidying, dishes, grocery lists.

After more than a year of feeling  betrayed, abandoned, forgotten about  — what does a gift for mom look like this year? For me ( and maybe, for you ?), it looks just like I always want it to look. I don’t want brunch with a five year old. All I want is ... a break.

This year, there won’t be a Mother’s Day mom-friend trip for a lot of reasons. But I hold on to this idea, and I am ready to cash it in whenever circumstances finally allow.

My One-Piece, Myself

You're not young anymore. it's fine..

This day is more than just giving gifts or flowers; it is a day to express our love, gratitude, and admiration for the women who shape our existence. In this essay, we will explore why Mother’s Day is significant, discussing its history, the impact of mothers, and the reasons we should celebrate it.

The Origin of Mother’s Day

The concept of Mother’s Day dates back to ancient times, but it wasn’t until the early 20th century that it became an official holiday in the United States. In 1908, Anna Jarvis, a devoted daughter who cherished her mother’s role, campaigned tirelessly for a special day dedicated to mothers. Her relentless efforts led to the first official Mother’s Day celebration in 1914, when President Woodrow Wilson declared the second Sunday in May as Mother’s Day. Since then, this heartfelt celebration has spread to many countries around the world.

Honoring Maternal Love

Mother’s Day serves as a day of reflection and appreciation for the selfless love and care that mothers provide. Mothers are often the heart of our homes, nurturing us from infancy to adulthood. They are our first teachers, guiding us through life’s lessons with wisdom and patience. Their sacrifices and dedication to our well-being are immeasurable.

According to a survey by the National Retail Federation, over 80% of individuals celebrate Mother’s Day by spending quality time with their mothers, and 75% buy gifts. These statistics reflect the widespread acknowledgment of the importance of mothers and the desire to express gratitude on this special day.

Mothers as Role Models

Mothers are not only caretakers but also role models. They instill values, morals, and life lessons that shape our character. Their influence extends beyond the home and into society, contributing to the development of responsible and compassionate citizens.

For instance, the famous poet Maya Angelou once said, “To describe my mother would be to write about a hurricane in its perfect power.” This powerful statement illustrates the immense impact a mother can have on a person’s life. It reminds us of the strength, resilience, and love that mothers embody, making them essential figures in our lives.

The Bond Between Mothers and Children

The bond between a mother and her child is unique and unbreakable. Research conducted by the American Psychological Association has shown that the emotional connection formed during infancy and childhood plays a crucial role in a child’s emotional and psychological development. This bond is the foundation of trust, security, and love that enables children to flourish.

Moreover, studies have shown that children who have strong and supportive relationships with their mothers tend to have higher self-esteem, perform better academically, and have better social and emotional well-being. This highlights the significance of nurturing the mother-child relationship and honoring mothers for their role in our growth and development.

Expressing Gratitude

Mother’s Day provides us with an opportunity to express our appreciation for all that our mothers do. While words may never fully capture the depth of our gratitude, small gestures, like writing heartfelt letters, preparing meals, or simply spending quality time together, can convey our love and appreciation.

A study published in the Journal of Happiness Studies revealed that individuals who express gratitude toward their mothers not only strengthen their relationships but also experience increased feelings of happiness and well-being. Celebrating Mother’s Day is a chance to strengthen our bonds and make our mothers feel cherished.

Conclusion of Essay on Mother’s Day

In conclusion, Mother’s Day is a celebration that goes beyond flowers and gifts. It is a day to honor the women who have shaped us into the individuals we are today. From its humble beginnings to its widespread global recognition, Mother’s Day reminds us of the immense love, sacrifices, and guidance mothers provide. The bond between mothers and children is unparalleled, and the positive impact of their influence extends to society as a whole.

On Mother’s Day, let us not only show our appreciation through gifts and gestures but also through genuine expressions of love, gratitude, and respect. In doing so, we uphold the true essence of Mother’s Day and celebrate the heart of our homes—the remarkable women we call “Mom.”

Table for Five by Susan Ito

It's five in the evening, and like clockwork, my 87-year-old mother asks, "What's for dinner?" and then, "Do you want me to start the rice?"

A second-generation Japanese-American, she likes to have a pot of rice at the ready for every meal. And even though she no longer has the ability to read and follow a recipe, or drive to the store, or figure out our high-tech oven, she can still measure out and wash the pebbly grains, and push the button on our electric rice steamer.

After my father died 10 years ago, it became clear that my mother couldn't live on her own. She started to get lost while driving. She became more forgetful and confused. When I asked her what she'd eaten for dinner, she'd say, "A diet Coke, some potato chips." Her doctor confirmed that her cognitive capacity was diminishing, so I soon joined the ranks of the "sandwich generation" and became the filling between two generations who needed me: my mom and my kids, plus my husband and two dogs, all under one roof.

Just as I did with my children when they were young, I had to coax my mother to "try" a little salad, a bit of sautéed vegetables. I also started giving her small jobs as I was preparing dinner. "Mom, can you cut up this onion?" She took half an hour to methodically dice it into perfect bits. As it turns out, she's an excellent sous chef.

Over time, we have found many jobs that she can do that are comforting in their repetition: sorting recyclables, washing dishes by hand, grating cheese. And as was true with my children when they were small, when Mom helps with the preparation, she's more likely to enjoy the dinner.

Having her live with us has brought a stabilizing order to our lives. We used to be one of those frantic, eating-burritos-in-the-car, overscheduled families. But Mom needs the predictability of a regular dinnertime, and sitting together at the table almost every night now brings us a kind of closeness we never had before.

My daughters have learned to be infinitely patient with her; they answer her questions, sometimes repeated a dozen times, as if it were the first time. Living with their grandmother has taught them compassion in a deep way, and it has allowed me to see her differently as well.

These past several years have shown me facets of my mother I never knew: her quirky humor, her resilience, her passion for the Yankees. "Derek Jeter, he's my man!" she says, with a fist pump. I've also seen a vulnerability in her that I never could have imagined. When she asks me for help because she doesn't remember how to open an umbrella, it almost breaks my heart.

Tonight we're having salmon, a "brain food" I've read can help memory. She wrinkles her nose at the idea of fish, but I'll add the teriyaki sauce she likes, and ask her to put on a pot of rice. I'll also pick up Oreos for her as a treat. And I'll do it eagerly. Because when I think about all the meals my mom made for my pickyeating self when I was young, when she cut the crusts off my sandwiches and served my food so it wouldn't "touch," I'm reminded of the ways she nourished me. Now that the tables are turned, I'm glad to do the same for her.

Why I Love My Mother-in-Law by Jennifer Matlack

Whenever I talk to my friend Julia, she brings up her mother-in-law, Roberta, whom she loathes.

In a flurry, Julia lists Roberta's most recent offenses: She showed up unexpectedly and stayed for hours, she "reorganized" the medicine cabinet, she went on and on and on about her bunion—during dinner. Then, pausing a moment to catch her breath, Julia will say wryly, "Oh, you know how it is," as if all daughter-inlaws belong to some antimom- in-law society where we rage and commiserate about our inherited misfortune. Well, here's the thing: I'm not in that club. I'm one of those rare women who happen to love their mother-in-law.

At 85, my mom-in-law, Jo, is one of the savviest women I know. She doesn't deserve the bad rap that so many MILs get. I'll admit, though, that I worried about how we'd get along. On the drive over to her house for our first introduction, my future husband, Jeff, told me that his mom was assertive and very frank. "She'll tell you exactly what she thinks," he warned. I wondered if she'd size me up and then announce brazenly, "Nope. Not for my son!"

That evening I realized that Jeff was right: Jo was unmistakably in charge. Among a stream of other polite "commands," she determined who would set the table, who would uncork and pour the wine (a bottle that she chose), and which topics were off-limits during dinner. When we finally sat down to eat—after Jo pointed each of us to our designated seat—she took her first bite. "The corn is overcooked," she said. When I objected politely, saying that it was "fine," she replied, "That's kind of you to say, but it is overcooked and it's awful." At the end of the night, Jo turned to Jeff and said, "We'll be seeing more of Jen." He replied, "I hope so." "Oh," she said, winking at me, "I wasn't asking, I was telling."

I was instantly captivated. When I was growing up, my mother regularly deferred to my father. Her opinions were trumped by his, and her feelings were seldom considered. Jo provided another image of what a mom (and a woman) could look like: strong, self-assured, not afraid to add her two cents. I found her empowering and irresistible.

During the 10 years I've known her, Jo has taught me a lot—everything from how to invest in the stock market to how to paint clouds realistically (the trick: Add a touch of gray). But more than anything else, she's shown me how to speak up and use my voice without apology. As a result, the home I've made with Jeff is a lot different from the one I grew up in. When my husband does something that upsets me or if we disagree about a hot-button topic— money, kids, sex, you name it—I don't stay silent, biting my tongue and stifling my emotions. I say what I feel, and every time I do, I feel better, stronger and surer about who I am as a woman, a wife, and now a mother. Sometimes when Jeff and I butt heads and I refuse to back down, he'll say, "Boy, sometimes I think I married my mother!" I can't think of a nicer compliment.

Miss Manners by Deborah Roberts

When I was a child, my mother, a petite, s oft-spoken woman, would routinely greet friends, acquaintances and strangers in her syrupy Southern drawl, "How ah yew?"

Once, I asked her why she was always so friendly to people she didn't even know. Her reply was something I didn't quite understand: "The time of day belongs to everyone." I would ponder that comment for years to come.

When she was growing up in small-town Georgia, proper manners and kindness were everything to my mother. Any comment made to an adult was followed by ma'am or sir. And the Roberts children, all nine of us, were no exception. Mom, strong and determined, demanded that we respect everyone.

Given her childhood, I was always amazed by my mother's good nature and positive spirit. Both she and my father grew up during the Depression in the segregated South. Mom lost her own mother to illness shortly after she was born, and she and her older brother were sent to live with their grandmother, who wasn't particularly warm. By her teen years, with money tight, Mom was forced to quit high school and work in a local paper factory to help pay the bills. When she married my dad in her early 20s, she was a woman who knew the meaning of struggle.

Yet somehow, Mom developed a nurturing softness. For as long as I can remember, she was the classic Southern steel magnolia: tough on the inside but tender on the outside, always showing concern for other people. Eventually I began to understand her mantra, that "the time of day belongs to everyone." As we'd walk into the post office or grocery store and she'd greet friends and strangers alike, it dawned on me. Everyone deserves a kind word.

Today, while raising my own two children and now-grown stepdaughter in New southern Roots Deborah (back row, third from left) with her mother, Ruth (center), and other family members. York City, I find myself thinking a lot about my mom and wondering if I'm living life as she'd hoped I would. Though my soft Southern manner often makes me feel like an oddity in a city known for rushing and ignoring passersby, I try to think about everyone I encounter so that I can set an example for my kids. My deepest hope is that they'll remember my kind words to the lonely-looking elderly man sitting next to us on the bus, or how I stopped to help the woman struggling with a baby carriage. My roots are truly a part of me. And I thank Mom for planting them so deeply.

The New Me by Sharon Duke Estroff

When I was 8, I had names picked out for all of my future offspring (a dozen baby girls). At 13 I had my own babysitting business. After grad school, I was teaching a class full of fourth-graders.

So by the time I became pregnant with my first child (a boy, go figure!), I knew exactly what kind of mother I was going to be: calm, organized and completely in charge. Yeah, right.

If there's one thing I've learned after four kids and 17 years of parenting, it's this: As much as the mother shapes the child, the child shapes the mom.

Despite my intentions of being a cool-as-a-cucumber parent, the birth of my first child, Brandon, now 17, transformed me into a maternal tossed salad. For the first two years of his life, I refused to leave the house without my What to Expect manual for fear I might need to know how to make a baby tourniquet or something.

Impossibly, it would seem, Brandon grew up to be the most serene and easygoing person I've ever known. Like a human tranquilizer, he puts me at ease, offering me a voice of reason in a way few others can. "You should be less worried about me getting E. coli from a raw hamburger and more worried about me choking on this overcooked hockey puck," he once said during dinner. I had to laugh. He had a point—and it wasn't the first time. I needed to chill. Maybe I'm not the unflappable parent I'd hoped to be, but thanks to my laid-back eldest, I'm a little closer to it.

Where Brandon was born to go with the flow, my second son, Alex, 15, carves his own current. When he was 12, Alex wanted to take electric guitar lessons. I said no—he had enough going on with school, baseball and football. So he got some secondhand strings, taught himself to play via instructional YouTube videos, and started a rock band with some middle-school buddies. Take-charge Mama might have grounded her willful son, but something in me had changed. Instead of getting angry, I threw a huge party in the basement and invited everyone over for The Allies' first concert.

Somewhere along the way, this staunchly innerdirected child had taught me that my purpose in parenting is not to tell him when, where and how to flap his wings, but to give him the ability to soar, unafraid, on his own.

By the time my third son, Jake, came along, I was less hovering (thanks, Brandon) and less controlling (thanks, Alex). But I was still clinging to my superorganized, scheduled-down-to-the-last-minute tendencies. As with my first two sons, Jake certainly changed all that.

Here is a 10-year-old brimming with curiosity, who collects information like other kids collect baseball cards. Mothering him is like being a perpetual contestant on Jeopardy! The trouble is, joining my son in his knowledge quests can take a lot of time. Practice with him for the geography bee? Of course. But I had to brush up first. Read the five-book The Lightning Thief series with him? Sure. And 28 hours of reading later (yes, 28!), we finally finished the last book. But I wouldn't have missed those juicy motherson book chats for anything.

With Jake as my guide, I've learned to look up from my weekly planner every now and then to see the world, and to stop and smell the roses, even if they're not exactly on the way.

The mom I thought I'd be all those years ago certainly isn't the mom I've become. My kids have seen to that. But my spirited 7-year-old Emma sometimes reminds me of the girl I used to be. After being beckoned to her room "to see something important," I was greeted by a display of 12 dolls lined up on her bed. "They're my babies!" she announced before rattling off their names one by one.

Our pick for smart bird feeders, the Bird Buddy with Solar Roof.

Bird Buddy Smart Bird Feeder with Solar Roof

This bird feeder can identify who or what is coming to feast and creates video clips and still photos, which can be shared with an active in-app community.

The Bird Buddy with Solar Roof has an integrated camera to capture 5MP photos and 720p videos of visiting birds (and squirrels). It also connects to the cloud wirelessly and uses AI to identify what species of birds are eating at the feeder (this can be helpful to determine which seeds attract which birds). The attached solar panels eliminate the need to charge batteries and the Bird Buddy can be accessorized with mounts and additional feeding attachments like a suet-ball holder.

The jade green Mosser Glass Mixing Bowls have a 50s farmstead vibe—they look like they’ve seen some biscuits in their day. The set includes a 20-, 40-, and 60-oz bowl, all made from thick, durable flint glass in Cambridge, Ohio in the last hand-pressed glass factory in the U.S. They’re sturdy and don’t chip easily, but they’re not safe for the microwave or dishwasher.

But, even if she’s not those things, these fashion forward (yes, we said it) Calzuro Classic Clogs are perfect for gardening, clopping around the house, or otherwise looking fabulous. They’re fully washable and even autoclavable if she needs them to be sterile for some reason (surgery, perhaps?). We love the bright rainbow of available colors and the wide range of unisex sizes.

Store cellar-loving root veggies in the cool, dark ceramic bottom of this two-part fruit bowl, and fresh fruits in the bowl-shaped cork lid.

The chic and elegantly understated Emile Henry French Ceramic Fruit Storage Bowl picks up where the root cellar of yesteryear left off. The ceramic bottom is a dark, cool place perforated with a few air holes where potatoes, onions, and other alliums can be stored for maximum shelf life. The cork lid is a shallow fruit bowl meant to hold things like bananas and tomatoes that need more air and light. The cork absorbs moisture, keeping fruit fresh longer and staving off rot and fruit flies. This French-made innovation comes in two shapes and sizes, and eight colors.

A well-earned night off

A person reclines on a bed in a hotel room, with their cellphone in hand and a rolling suitcase by their feet.

Hotels.com Gift Card

Give the gift a night (or two) away with a Hotels.com gift card. You can choose the amount, it never expires, and the card is good for any hotel on the site, local or far-flung.

Parenting is one of the hardest jobs on the planet, and there’s no PTO. Right this wrong by giving the mom in your life the gift of an evening to herself. Consider booking her a night at a wonderful nearby hotel, where someone else will handle the cooking and the cleaning—and where there will be no interruptions from beloved offspring. If you need a little help tracking down a good spot, try Google’s Hotels aggregator or, if you want to leave the planning up to her, try a gift card in the amount of your choice to Hotels.com. Both sites sift through options in your selected area and easily filter by categories such as star rating, price, and amenities.

Glerups Slip-On With Leather Sole

These slippers are the most durable and supportive felted-wool slippers we tested. They’re warm, but they breathe well, so your feet don’t get sweaty.

At Wirecutter, we sing the praises of Glerups Slip-On With Leather Sole slippers often, and though we frequently test (and like) other brands , these are the ones we really feel passionate about . Danish mother Nanny Glerup originally made these slippers by hand, using wool from her own sheep and they still have that homemade, artisan feel. Because wool felt is more breathable than sheepskin, these wick away any wetness from your skin, help regulate temperature, and can be worn comfortably all year long. The leather sole is perfect for indoors, but Glerups also come with a thick rubber sole, making them durable enough for dog walks around the block or even grocery store runs.

Best sleep mask

A black Nidra Deep Rest Eye Mask on a wicker basket.

Nidra Deep Rest Eye Mask

Lightweight and contoured, this mask fits comfortably and blocks light well for a wide variety of face shapes (note that it’s best for sitting upright, such as while you’re flying, or back-sleeping).

Give your mom the gift of a good night’s sleep (or an afternoon nap) with the Nidra Deep Rest Eye Mask . Of all the sleep masks we tested , we found the Nidra to be the most comfortable and most efficient at blocking light. Its deep eyecups allow eyes to flutter during sleep, and the adjustable Velcro strap keeps it snug, no matter her noggin size. Some restless sleepers report slippage during the night, but most say this mask is so light and soft they forget they’re wearing it.

An elegant vessel

Pottery options from Raawii --a vase, a pitcher, and a bowl -- one of our favorite Mother's Day gifts.

Raawii Strøm Jug

This sculptural earthenware jug is made in Portugal, using a slip-cast technique. It looks equally beautiful serving as a flower vase or a water vessel.

This angular jug looks as stunning on a counter displaying flowers as it does on a table holding water (it’s made with a food-safe glaze). Inspired by the still lives painted by Danish modernist Vilhelm Lundstrøm , the Raawii Strøm Jug will impress and delight any mom—even if she’s not an art buff—thanks to the seven poppy hues and sculptural shape. You can also help her build a collection of bowls, carafes, and vases in the same Raawii style.

Moms are the best. They always know just what to say when we’re feeling down, and they’re always there for a hug. They work so hard all year round taking care of everyone else, and Mother’s Day is the one day of the year where they get to be spoiled rotten! If you’re stuck on what to buy your mom for Mother’s Day, don’t worry – we’ve got you covered. In this blog post, we’ll give you some tips on how to find the perfect gift for your mom .

A Little History About Mother’s Day

Every year on the second Sunday in May, we celebrate Mother’s Day. It’s a day to show our appreciation for the women who have helped to shape our lives. That means sending a card or flowers or perhaps treating their mothers to a special meal for many people. But what is the history of this holiday?

Mother’s Day was first celebrated in the United States in 1908 when Anna Jarvis held a memorial service for her mother at St Andrew’s Methodist Church in Grafton, West Virginia. Anna then began a campaign to make Mother’s Day a national holiday. Her efforts were successful, and in 1914 Congress passed a law making it an official holiday.

Since then, Mother’s Day has been celebrated around the world. In some countries, it is a religious holiday, while it is a secular celebration in others. However, the one thing that all Mother’s Days have in common is that they are a day to show our mothers how much we love and appreciate them.

So, now that you know a little bit about the history of Mother’s Day, let’s move on to some gift-giving tips!

How to find the perfect gift for your mom on this special day

For most people, finding the perfect gift for their mom is no easy task. After all, what do you get the woman who has everything? The key is to think about what your mom loves and what would make her happy. If she’s a big fan of books, consider getting her a nice leather-bound edition of her favorite novel. If she enjoys spending time in the kitchen, a new set of cookware would be sure to please. Or, if she’s always on the go, a gift certificate to her favorite spa or infrared sauna would be the perfect way to help her relax and unwind. For those moms in Austin looking to rejuvenate their skin without extensive downtime, Sofwave in Austin treatments at a reputable local spa could be an exceptional gift. It’s a thoughtful way to show you care about her well-being and appearance. Whatever you choose, make sure it comes from the heart and you’re sure to make your mom smile this Mother’s Day.

Contemporary Celebrations

Jarvis’s intention was to honor her own mother’s work and to highlight the importance of mothers in society.

It is a day to reflect on and appreciate the love, sacrifice, and dedication that is synonymous with motherhood. As we celebrate, it is also crucial to remember that the respect and appreciation we show on this day should not be confined to a single day but should be a constant in our daily lives. Mother’s Day serves as a reminder of the significant impact mothers have on individual lives and societal progress, making it a celebration of not just motherhood, but also of the broader values of love, sacrifice, and care.

Long Essay on Mothers Day in English (400 Words)

Our mothers are like a security blanket to us because she saves us from all problems. She never regards her own problems and listens to us all time. In order to give her respect, the second Sunday of May month has been dedicated to her to celebrate mother’s day. This event is of great importance to us and our mothers. On this day we should keep our mothers happy and never make them sad. We should always obey her and do work properly. She always wants to make us a good human being in life.

A big program is organized in our school every year on mother’s day to celebrate it conjointly. Our teachers help us in getting prepared for the mother’s day occasion. We learn lots of poems, rhymes, essays, speeches on Mother’s day , conversations, etc for the celebration of this occasion. We are really blessed by God with a caring and loving mother. Without mothers our lives are nothing. We are so lucky as we have a mother. We give lots of special gifts to our mother and she gives us lots of love and care. Out teachers give us an invitation card to invite our mother to school and be the glory of the occasion.

Mothers do lots of activities in the classroom like dancing, singing, poem recitation, speech, etc for our happiness. We too take part in the celebration and show our talent (such as poem recitation, essay writing, speech, dance, singing, etc) in front of the mother and teacher. Our mothers bring a lot of delicious dishes with them to school. At the end of the celebration, we all enjoy eating those delicious dishes together with our teachers and mothers. We are served a variety of dishes by our mothers.

Our mothers are very special. Even after being tired she always smiles for us. She tells us different poems and stories while sleeping in the night. She helps us in preparing our project works and home works and helps us during exam time. She takes care of our uniform and school dress. She teaches us to eat anything only after proper hand washes with soap and water. She teaches us good manners, etiquette, morality, humanity, and helping others always in life. She takes care of my father, grandparents, and my small sister. We all too love her too much and take her outside weekly with all family members.

100 Words Short Essay on My Mother in English

Essay-1: A CHILDREN-MOTHER RELATIONSHIP

Children are particularly very much excited about Mother’s Day. Preparations get started a week before the day in schools and the parents are called to attend mother’s day celebrations in schools. Specifically, mothers are invited to the schools so as to make them feel honored for whatever they do to help their children grow and understand the intricacies of the world. Schools prepare for an assortment of activities for the Mother’s day celebration. While some of the students prepare for Mother’s day rhyme in English some of them prepare it in Hindi. Some of them also prepare for Mother’s Day essays, speeches, poems, and other Mother’s day activities. Mothers on this day go to their children’s schools to participate in the celebration.

Essay-2: OUR ANGEL MOTHER

It’s a well-known fact that celebrating a Mother’s contribution in our life cannot be celebrated in a day or two. But a day has been so dedicated to make all mothers out there feel proud of themselves and can understand that life would not have been what it is today, had they not been there. It comes in the month of May every year and reminds people of the courage of a mother that she shows up in order to make our life a brighter one. She is so patient that she listens to all of our problems and gives the best solution to each one of them. Even if we get wrong somewhere in life, she never backs off her hands and keeps us motivating till the time she is alive.
