Ankylosing spondylitis at-home research study.

The goal of this research is to allow researchers to enhance our understand of ankylosing spondylitis in support of developing new diagnostic and treatment options for patients living with this condition.

You may quality if you:
- Are 18 to 85 years old
- Are diagnosed with ankylosing spondylitis for at least 3 months
- Live in the United States
You may not qualify if you:
- Are pregnant or nursing
- Have known history of HIV, hepatitis, and other infectious disease
- Experience excess blood loss including blood donation defined as 250 mL in the last two months
- Have undergone treatment with Cosentyx (secukinumab), Taltz (ixekizumab), Sliq (brodalumab) or received anti-tumor necrosis factor alpha biologic therapy (Remicade, Enbrel, Humira, Cimizia) within 12 weeks of blood donation
- Have received Tysabri (natalizumab) , Benlysta (belimumab) , Orencia (abatacept), Voloiximab (visilizumab) within 16 weeks of blood donation
- Have received JAK inhibitor Xeljanz (tofacitinib), or Rinvoq (upadacitinib) within 4 weeks of blood donation

I don't have health insurance. Can I still participate?
Yes. However, to participate in most studies, you will need to provide proof of your diagnosis. Even if you are not currently seeing a physician, you can still sign an authorization for Medical Record Release from your former physician that can serve as proof of diagnosis. Previous medical records can serve as proof of diagnosis.
Why does Sanguine need my medical information?
We may ask you to sign a Release of Medical Records so that we can provide researchers with the data they need to conduct as comprehensive of a study as possible. Your de-identified medical information will help translate laboratory results from collected samples into clinical information that may be used to develop new therapies and/or diagnostics.
Will I get test results from Sanguine?
No. We collect blood and other samples from donors in order to provide scientists with quality samples for their research. We do not perform diagnostic tests.
The Older You Are, the More Likely You Are to Own a Home
A recent study released by the Federal Reserve Board reveals that homeownership rates vary widely by age, race and location.
The Report on the Economic Well-Being of U.S. Households, which was conducted in 2019 and includes a follow-up survey in April 2020, shows that homeownership rates tend to rise with age. The report reveals that 26% of 18- to 29-year-olds owned their homes compared with 85% of people age 60 and older, as young adults were more likely to live with parents to save money. Similar analysis had been done by NAHB based on the results from Census Bureau's Housing Vacancy Survey.
White adults had higher homeownership rate than Black and Hispanic adults — 71% of white adults owned their homes, compared with 48% and 50% of Black and Hispanic adults, respectively. Moreover, rural residents were more likely to own their homes compared with people living in other areas. Thirty-one percent of rural residents owned their own home without a mortgage, compared with 20% of urban residents.
The survey also provides information on the economic well-being of renters. Renters were asked to indicate all reasons for renting rather than owning. Difficulty accessing a mortgage was a major barrier for renters as 62% reported they were unable to afford a down payment and 41% of renters said they could not qualify for a mortgage.
Other reasons that keep people renting include convenience and affordability. More than half of renters preferred renting because it is cheaper and convenient. Among renters, 35% of respondents were looking to buy a home.
