It is an emotional movie which always keeps me glued to the screen. It tells about the story of a boy who suffers from dyslexia due to which he is unable to identify speech sounds and how they relate to letters. Because of this disorder, he cannot excel in any activity.

He finds all the subjects difficult to study. Even with this disorder, he is very good at painting. However, he gets expelled from school because of his poor performance.

All the teachers tell his parents that their boy is not normal and he should be sent to school which is especially made for special children like him. Later, his parents send him to boarding school. There he sinks into a state of nervousness and fear because of new environment. Fortunately, he finds an art teacher there who is very supportive and caring.

He also gets to know that ishaan’s dad does not understand him and often shouts at him for not getting good grades. Because of this, ishaan no longer paints and suffers from anxiety.

He gets motivated to improve ishaan’s writing and reading by using techniques developed by dyslexia specialists. These techniques help ishaan to score good grades in school. In the end, he also wins a painting competition because of his striking creative style.

I like how this story is relevant in today’s society. According to me, this is a movie which gives best moral to parents, teachers and every child. It is a marvelous piece of work which shows a perfect relationship between a teacher and a student. It highlights the issue that sometimes, parents do not understand that every kid is different.

If he is not good at studies then there must be some other thing which he is good at. He might be interested in painting, acting, singing or sports. Therefore, parents should not discourage their children but help them in what they like.

I like how the director of this movie has brought out a clear message that parents should not ignore the interests of kids and they should not snatch their childhood from them by giving them burden of getting good grades or efficient performance in every field.

Essay on My Favorite Movie Harry Potter

My love for movies started when I was a kid, and ever since then, movies have been my favorite pastime. From action-packed thrillers to romantic comedies, there’s a movie genre for every mood. But if I have to pick just one movie as my all-time favorite, hands down it would be the Harry Potter series.

For those who are not familiar with the name, Harry Potter is a fictional character created by British author J.K. Rowling. The series consists of seven books and eight movies, which follows the journey of a young wizard named Harry Potter, who discovers his true identity as “The Chosen One” and battles against the dark wizard, Lord Voldemort.

I was first introduced to Harry Potter when I was in elementary school, and I still remember the excitement of reading the books for the first time. The magical world of Hogwarts, spells, potions, and flying broomsticks had me completely captivated. As a kid, I would often daydream about receiving my acceptance letter to Hogwarts and attending classes with Harry, Ron, and Hermione.

When the movies were released, I was ecstatic! It was a dream come true to see my favorite characters and their adventures brought to life on the big screen. The cast, especially Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter, Emma Watson as Hermione Granger, and Rupert Grint as Ron Weasley, did an incredible job of portraying their characters and staying true to the books.

One of the things I love most about the Harry Potter series is the way it tackles important themes such as love, friendship, courage, and good vs. evil. The characters face challenges and overcome them by staying true to their values and relying on each other for support. This message of unity and strength in the face of adversity resonated with me, and I believe it’s one of the reasons why the series has such a huge fan base.

Moreover, the world-building in the Harry Potter series is impeccable. J.K. Rowling’s attention to detail and ability to create a vivid and complex magical world is truly impressive. From Diagon Alley to Hogsmeade, each location has its own unique charm and adds depth to the story. The spells and magical creatures introduced in the series are also fascinating, and I love how each one has its own history and significance.

Apart from the story and characters, the music in the Harry Potter movies is another aspect that makes them stand out for me. The iconic theme song composed by John Williams never fails to give me chills, and it perfectly captures the essence of the series. The rest of the soundtrack is also beautifully crafted and adds to the overall magical atmosphere of the movies.

As I grew older, my love for the Harry Potter series only intensified. I started noticing and appreciating the deeper themes and symbolism in the story that went beyond just a tale of magic and adventure. The series also taught me valuable life lessons about courage, friendship, and standing up for what is right.

Even today, I find myself re-reading the books and re-watching the movies whenever I need a break from reality. The Harry Potter series has become a timeless classic, and I believe it will continue to capture the hearts of audiences for generations to come.

In conclusion, the Harry Potter series holds a special place in my heart as my all-time favorite movie. It’s not just about magic and adventure, but it’s a story about love, friendship, and overcoming challenges. The series has sparked my imagination and taught me valuable life lessons that I will carry with me forever. And for that, I will always be grateful to J.K. Rowling for creating such a magical world and to the cast and crew for bringing it to life on the big screen.

My Favorite Movie PK

Are you a big movie fan? Do you ever find yourself eagerly waiting for new releases, rewatching old classics, and discussing plot twists with your friends? If so, then you probably understand the feeling of having a favorite movie. For me, that movie is PK.

Released in 2014, PK is an Indian satirical comedy-drama directed by Rajkumar Hirani. The film stars Aamir Khan as the lead character, an alien who lands on earth and becomes stranded when his remote control to return home is stolen. He then embarks on a journey to retrieve it and encounters various aspects of human society, including religion, superstition, and love.

The first time I watched PK, I was blown away by its unique concept and thought-provoking message. The film uses comedy to address serious issues, making it both entertaining and meaningful. It challenges societal norms and beliefs, encouraging viewers to think critically about their own values.

One of the things I love most about PK is its ability to make me laugh while also making me reflect on larger societal issues. The character of PK himself is endearing and hilarious, with his childlike innocence and curiosity about human behaviors. Aamir Khan’s performance as PK is outstanding, bringing the character to life in a way that captures the audience’s hearts.

The film also has a stellar supporting cast, including Anushka Sharma, Sushant Singh Rajput, and Boman Irani. Each actor delivers a memorable performance, adding depth and complexity to the film’s themes. The chemistry between the characters is palpable, making their relationships feel authentic and relatable.

One of the most impactful aspects of PK is its commentary on religion. The film presents a thought-provoking argument against blind faith and superstition, showcasing how religious leaders can exploit people’s beliefs for personal gain.

It also highlights the importance of questioning and understanding one’s own beliefs rather than blindly following societal norms. This message resonated with me deeply and has stayed with me long after watching the film.

In addition to its thought-provoking themes, PK also boasts stunning cinematography and a captivating soundtrack. The music adds emotion and depth to key scenes, enhancing the overall viewing experience. The film’s settings, from the bustling streets of Mumbai to the tranquil beauty of Rajasthan, further immerse viewers into PK’s world.

But what truly makes PK my favorite movie is its ability to make me feel a range of emotions. I laughed at PK’s antics, cried during emotional moments, and felt anger towards societal injustices portrayed in the film. It takes skillful storytelling to evoke such strong emotions from the audience, and PK does it flawlessly.

PK has received both critical and commercial success, becoming one of the highest-grossing Indian films of all time. It also won several awards, including Best Film at the 60th Filmfare Awards. However, what matters most to me is its impact on society and its ability to spark important conversations.

The film’s message is timeless and relevant, making it a must-watch for people of all ages and backgrounds.

In conclusion PK is more than just a movie to me. It’s a thought-provoking masterpiece that challenges societal norms and encourages viewers to question their own beliefs. Its unique blend of comedy, drama, and social commentary makes it my favorite movie, one that I will continue to rewatch and recommend to others. If you haven’t seen PK yet, do yourself a favor and add it to your must-watch list. Who knows, it may become your favorite movie too. So, what are you waiting for? Grab some popcorn and hit play on PK – an unforgettable cinematic experience awaits!

Essay on My Favorite Movie Fast and Furious:

The Fast and Furious franchise has been a staple in the action movie genre for over two decades. With its adrenaline-fueled car chases, heart-stopping stunts, and diverse cast of characters, it’s no wonder that this series has become a favorite among fans worldwide.

My love for this franchise began when I first watched The Fast and the Furious back in 2001. From the very first race scene, I was hooked. The sound of revving engines and the sight of sleek cars racing through the streets had me on the edge of my seat. But what truly drew me in was the chemistry between characters Dominic Toretto and Brian O’Conner.

Their bromance and loyalty to each other despite their differences resonated with me. It’s not just about fast cars and action-packed scenes, but also about the bond of family and friendship that has kept this franchise going strong.

One of the most appealing aspects of the Fast and Furious series is its diverse cast. From street racers to former criminals, each character brings their own unique skills and personalities to the table. And as the franchise grew, so did the representation of different cultures and backgrounds.

The shift from street racing to heists in Fast Five not only upped the ante with thrilling action sequences but also introduced us to fan-favorite characters like Han, Tej, and Roman. Even more diversity was brought to the franchise with strong female characters like Letty, Mia, and most recently Hattie Shaw. Seeing people from all walks of life come together and form a strong bond is what makes this series stand out for me.

But it’s not just the characters that make this franchise special; it’s also the crazy stunts and over-the-top action sequences. From driving cars off cliffs to jumping between skyscrapers, each movie manages to push the limits of what we thought was possible. And the fact that most of these stunts are done practically is a testament to the dedication and hard work put in by the cast and crew.

It’s also worth mentioning how well this franchise has evolved over time. From humble beginnings as a street racing movie, it has now become a global phenomenon with spin-offs, video games, and even a live show. The Fast and Furious franchise has proven that it can adapt and continue to entertain audiences with each new installment.

While I have enjoyed all the movies in this franchise, there are a few that stand out for me. Fast Five, in particular, holds a special place in my heart. It was the first movie that fully embraced the heist aspect of the series while still maintaining its signature car chases and fight scenes. The addition of Dwayne Johnson’s character, Luke Hobbs, also added an extra layer of excitement to the movie.

Another favorite of mine is Furious 7. Not only did it have some of the most thrilling action sequences in the franchise, but it also served as a touching tribute to Paul Walker, who tragically passed away during filming. The emotional impact of his absence was felt throughout the movie, and it truly showed how much this cast had become a family both on and off-screen.

In conclusion, the Fast and Furious franchise holds a special place in my heart as my favorite movie series. Its diverse cast, heart-pumping action sequences, and themes of family and friendship make each movie a joy to watch. While the franchise may have started as a simple movie about street racing, it has now become a global phenomenon that continues to entertain audiences worldwide.

And with more movies and spin-offs in the works, I can’t wait to see what other exciting adventures this franchise has in store for us. So, if you haven’t watched any of the Fast and Furious movies yet, I highly recommend you give them a chance and join in on the ride. So buckle up and get ready for some high-speed action with the Fast and Furious franchise!

Essay on My Favorite Movie Twilight:

My favorite movie of all time is Twilight. I know, I know, it may sound cliché but hear me out. The reason why it’s my favorite movie goes beyond the romantic vampire and werewolf love triangle that captured the hearts of millions around the world.

Twilight is not just a typical romance film. It’s a story about self-discovery, acceptance, and the power of love to transcend all boundaries.

The movie is based on the novel by Stephenie Meyer and follows the story of Bella Swan, a teenage girl who moves to the small town of Forks, Washington to live with her father. There she meets Edward Cullen, a mysterious and handsome vampire who she falls in love with. However, their love is not without challenges as they must navigate the dangerous world of vampires and werewolves while also facing their own personal demons.

One of the reasons why I love this movie is because of its strong female lead. Bella is not your typical damsel in distress waiting to be saved by her prince charming. She is independent, brave, and unafraid to stand up for what she believes in. Her character development throughout the series is inspiring and relatable, making her a role model for young girls everywhere.

Another aspect of the movie that I enjoy is its beautiful cinematography. The stunning scenery of the Pacific Northwest adds to the mystical and enchanting atmosphere of the story. It’s no wonder that fans from all over the world travel to Forks to visit some of the filming locations.

But what makes this movie truly special to me is its theme of love conquering all. Despite their differences, Bella and Edward’s love for each other remains strong and unwavering. It shows that true love knows no boundaries, whether it be race, social status, or even species.

Twilight may have its fair share of critics but for me, it will always hold a special place in my heart. It’s not just a movie, it’s a reminder that love is the most powerful force in the world and can overcome any obstacle.

In conclusion, Twilight is more than just a teenage romance movie. It’s a beautiful story about love, growth, and acceptance. Its captivating characters, breathtaking scenery, and timeless message make it my all-time favorite movie. It’s a film that I can watch over and over again, always finding something new to love about it. And for that, it will forever hold a special place in my heart.

So the next time someone asks me why Twilight is my favorite movie, I’ll simply smile and say “because it’s not just a movie, it’s a love story that transcends all boundaries.” So, if you haven’t watched it yet, I highly recommend giving it a chance and experiencing the magic of Twilight for yourself. Trust me, you won’t regret it.

Essay on My Favorite Movie Dangal:

As a movie buff, I have watched hundreds of movies spanning different genres. But there is one movie that stands out amongst them all and holds a special place in my heart – Dangal.

Dangal is an Indian sports biographical drama based on the real-life story of former wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat and his daughters Geeta Phogat and Babita Kumari. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the movie stars Aamir Khan as Mahavir Singh Phogat and Fatima Sana Shaikh and Sanya Malhotra as his daughters. The film was released in 2016 and has since become one of the highest-grossing Indian films of all time.

What makes Dangal my favorite movie is not just its box office success, but the powerful message it delivers. The film challenges societal norms and stereotypes by showcasing the struggle of a father who defies all odds to train his daughters in a male-dominated sport like wrestling. It breaks gender barriers and inspires young girls to pursue their dreams, no matter how unconventional they may seem.

Apart from its impactful message, Dangal also delivers exceptional performances by its lead actors. Aamir Khan once again proves his versatility as an actor with his portrayal of Mahavir Singh Phogat. He not only physically transforms himself to play the role of a wrestler but also brings out the emotional side of a father who is determined to see his daughters succeed. Fatima Sana Shaikh and Sanya Malhotra also shine in their roles as the Phogat sisters, displaying strong-willed and determined characters.

The film’s screenplay and direction are top-notch, keeping the audience engaged from start to finish. The wrestling scenes are choreographed brilliantly, making them look realistic and intense. The soundtrack of the movie is another highlight, with songs like “Dangal” and “Haanikaarak Bapu” becoming instant hits.

In addition to its commercial success, Dangal has also received critical acclaim. The film won several awards, including the National Film Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment and three Filmfare Awards. It was also India’s official entry for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.

In conclusion, Dangal is a movie that has it all – a powerful message, exceptional performances, and top-notch execution. It not only entertains but also educates and inspires its audience. For me, it will always remain my favorite movie and one that I highly recommend to everyone. So if you haven’t watched it yet, do yourself a favor and add it to your must-watch list. You won’t be disappointed. So, keep watching amazing movies!

Short Essay on My Favorite Movie Bahubali:

Bahubali is an epic Indian movie that swept the nation off its feet with its grandeur, action-packed scenes, and compelling storyline. Released in 2015, this movie was a game-changer for Indian cinema as it broke all box office records and took the world by storm.

Directed by S.S. Rajamouli, Bahubali tells the story of two brothers, Amarendra Bahubali and Bhallaladeva, who fight for the throne of the ancient kingdom of Mahishmati. The movie is set in a fictional world filled with political intrigue, love, war, and betrayal.

One of the reasons I fell in love with this movie is its incredible action sequences. From sword fights to larger-than-life battle scenes, Bahubali has it all. The special effects and CGI used in the movie are top-notch and make the fight scenes even more captivating.

But what truly sets Bahubali apart is its strong characters, especially its female lead Devasena. She is a fierce warrior who can hold her ground against any opponent. Her character challenges traditional gender roles and stands out as a symbol of strength and resilience.

Apart from the action, Bahubali also has a heart-wrenching love story between Amarendra Bahubali and Devasena. Their chemistry is palpable, and their love for each other is portrayed beautifully on screen. This adds an emotional depth to the movie that makes it even more impactful.

Moreover, what I admire about Bahubali is how it showcases the rich culture and traditions of India. The sets, costumes, and music all beautifully capture the essence of Indian mythology and history.

Aside from its entertainment value, Bahubali also has a powerful message about good triumphing over evil. Through the character of Amarendra Bahubali, the movie teaches us that true strength lies in compassion and not violence.

In conclusion, Bahubali will always hold a special place in my heart as it is not just a movie but an experience. It has set the bar high for Indian cinema and has left its mark on audiences worldwide. This movie truly represents the magic of storytelling and proves that with passion and dedication, anything is possible. So, if you haven’t watched Bahubali yet, do yourself a favor and experience this masterpiece for yourself. So, don’t wait any longer and dive into the world of Bahubali – you won’t regret it!

“Films encourage us to take action. Our favourite characters, superheroes, teach us life lessons. They give us ideas and inspiration to do everything for the better instead of just sitting around, waiting for things to go their way. Films about famous personalities are the perfect way to affect social behaviour positively. Films are a source of knowledge. They can help learn what’s in the trend, find out more about ancient times, or fill out some knowledge gaps.”

In this movie essay, Rathod gives readers three ways watching movies can positively affect us. Movie writers, producers, and directors use their platform to teach viewers life skills, the importance of education, and the contrast between good and evil. Watching movies can also help us improve critical thinking, according to Briggs. Not only do movies entertain us, but they also have many educational benefits. “Many people involving children and adults can effect with their sleeping disturbance and anxiety. Myths, non-realistic, fairy tales could respond differently with being in the real world. Horror movies bring a lot of excitement and entertainment among you and your family. Horror movies can cause physical behavior changes in a person by watching the films. The results of watching horror movies shows that is has really effect people whether you’re an adult, teens, and most likely happens during your childhood.”

In his essay, Briggs acknowledges why people enjoy horror movies so much but warns of their adverse effects on viewers. Most commonly, they cause viewers nightmares, which may cause anxiety and sleep disorders. He focuses on the films’ effects on children, whose more sensitive, less developed brains may respond with worse symptoms, including major trauma. The films can affect all people negatively, but children are the most affected.

“This was the message of Casablanca in late 1942. It was the ideal opportunity for America to utilize its muscles and enter the battle. America was to end up the hesitant gatekeeper of the entire world. The characters of Casablanca, similar to the youthful Americans of the 1960s who stick headed the challenge development, are ‘genuine Americans’ lost in a hostile region, battling to open up another reality.”

In this essay, the author discusses the 1942 film  Casablanca , which is said to be the greatest movie ever made, and explains why it has gotten this reputation. To an extent, the film’s storyline, acting, and even relatability (it was set during World War II) allowed it to shine from its release until the present. It invokes feelings of bravery, passion, and nostalgia, which is why many love the movie. You can also check out these  books about adaption .

4.   Dune Review: An Old Story Reshaped For The New 2021 Audience by Oren Cohen

“Lady Jessica is a powerful woman in the original book, yet her interactions with Paul diminish her as he thinks of her as slow of thought. Something we don’t like to see in 2021 — and for a good reason. Every book is a product of its time, and every great storyteller knows how to adapt an old story to a new audience. I believe Villeneuve received a lot of hate from diehard Dune fans for making these changes, but I fully support him.”

Like the previous essay, Cohen reviews a film, in this case, Denis Villeneuve’s  Dune , released in 2021. He praises the film, writing about its accurate portrayal of the epic’s vast, dramatic scale, music, and, interestingly, its ability to portray the characters in a way more palatable to contemporary audiences while staying somewhat faithful to the author’s original vision. Cohen enjoyed the movie thoroughly, saying that the movie did the book justice.

“Those travelers added around 630 million New Zealand dollars ($437 million) to the country’s economy in 2019 alone, the tourism authority told CNBC. A survey by the tourism board, however, showed that almost one in five Kiwis are worried that the country attracts too many tourists. Overcrowding at tourist spots, lack of infrastructure, road congestion and environmental damage are creating tension between locals and visitors, according to a 2019 report by Tourism New Zealand.”

The locations where successful movies are filmed often become tourist destinations for fans of those movies. Goel writes about how “film tourism” affects the residents of popular filming locations. The environment is sometimes damaged, and the locals are caught off guard. Though this is not always the case, film tourism is detrimental to the residents and ecosystem of these locations. 6. Moonage Daydream:  “Who Is He? What Is He?” by Jonathan Romney

“Right from the start, Brett Morgen’s  Moonage Daydream  (2022) catches us off guard. It begins with an epigraph musing on Friedrich Nietzsche’s proclamation that “God is dead,” then takes us into deep space and onto the surface of the moon. It then unleashes an image storm of rockets, robots, and star-gazers, and rapid-fire fragments of early silent cinema, 1920s science fiction, fifties cartoons, and sixties and seventies newsreel footage, before lingering on a close-up of glittery varnish on fingernails.”

Moonage Daydream  is a feature film containing never-before-seen footage of David Bowie. In this essay, Romney delves into the process behind creating the movie and how the footage was captured. It also looks at the director’s approach to creating a structured and cohesive film, which took over two years to plan. This essay looks at how Bowie’s essence was captured and preserved in this movie while displaying the intricacies of his mind.

7. La Bamba:  American Dreaming, Chicano Style by Yolanda Machado

“A traumatic memory, awash in hazy neutral tones, arising as a nightmare. Santo & Johnny’s mournful “Sleep Walk” playing. A sudden death, foreshadowing the passing of a star far too young. The opening sequence of Luis Valdez’s  La Bamba  (1987) feels like it could be from another film—what follows is largely a celebration of life and music.”

La Bamba  is a well-known movie about a teenage Mexican migrant who became a rock ‘n’ roll star. His rise to fame is filled with difficult social dynamics, and the star tragically dies in a plane crash at a young age. In this essay, Machado looks at how the tragic death of the star is presented to the viewer, foreshadowing the passing of the young star before flashing back to the beginning of the star’s career. Machado analyses the storyline and directing style, commenting on the detailed depiction of the young star’s life. It’s an in-depth essay that covers everything from plot to writing style to direction.

5 Prompts for Essays About Movies

Simple and straightforward, write about your favorite movie. Explain its premise, characters, and plot, and elaborate on some of the driving messages and themes behind the film. You should also explain why you enjoy the movie so much: what impact does it have on you? Finally, answer this question in your own words for an engaging piece of writing.

From horror to romance, movies can fall into many categories. Choose one of the main genres in cinema and discuss the characteristics of movies under that category. Explain prevalent themes, symbols, and motifs, and give examples of movies belonging to your chosen genre. For example, horror movies often have underlying themes such as mental health issues, trauma, and relationships falling apart.

Without a doubt, special effects in movies have improved drastically. Both practical and computer-generated effects produce outstanding, detailed effects to depict situations most would consider unfathomable, such as the vast space battles of the  Star Wars  movies. Write about the development of special effects over the years, citing evidence to support your writing. Be sure to detail key highlights in the history of special effects.

Movies are always made to be appreciated by viewers, but whether or not they enjoy them varies, depending on their preferences. In your essay, write about what you look for in a “good” movie in terms of plot, characters, dialogue, or anything else. You need not go too in-depth but explain your answers adequately. In your opinion, you can use your favorite movie as an example by writing about the key characteristics that make it a great movie.

Essays About Movies: The evolution of movies

From the silent black-and-white movies of the early 1900s to the vivid, high-definition movies of today, times have changed concerning movies. Write about how the film industry has improved over time. If this topic seems too broad, feel free to focus on one aspect, such as cinematography, themes, or acting.

So choose a movie that you really enjoy and can talk about at length for the best results.

II. Watch the movie again, taking note of the movie’s plot, the characters, and setting

Before writing anything, it’s important that you take a close look at the film you’ve chosen. This means watching it again, but this time with a critical eye. Pay attention to the story, the characters, and the film’s overall setting. Think about how these elements come together to create a cohesive whole. What themes are explored in the movie? What is it that the movie director was trying to communicate with their selections? By taking the time to analyze the film in this way, you’ll be able to develop a more nuanced understanding of it which will come in handy when you start writing your essay.

III. Write down your thoughts on the movie

After you’ve watched the movie a second time and taken some notes, it’s time to start brainstorming your thoughts on the film. Take note of the things liked about the movie? Also take note of the things you didn’t you like about the movie? Not to forget, ask yourself, what themes resonated with you? How did the cinematography and writing/directing choices affect your experience watching the movie? These will help you form a solid opinion of the film.

IV. Discuss the themes of the movie and how they resonate with you

We asked top assignment writers at Essay Geeks , what is their secret of writing top essays about their favorite movies. The answer was simple; you discuss the themes that the movie explores. What topics does the film tackle? How does it approach these topics? How do the themes resonate with you on a personal level? These are the sorts of questions that you’ll need to answer in your essay.

V. Analyze the cinematography and writing/directing choices made by the filmmakers

You want to be sure to not only discuss the themes of the film but also analyze how the filmmakers approached these themes. What decisions did filmmakers settle on in terms of cinematography and writing/directing? How did these choices affect your experience of watching the movie? Did they enhance or detract from your enjoyment of the film? These questions will help you to get at the bottom of what exactly the filmmakers were aiming at achieving with their choices.

VI. Offer your own interpretation of the film’s message or story

What did you make of the ending? Do you think the film was successful in conveying its intended message? What sort of emotions did the film evoke in you? Did it make you think about the world in a different way? By offering your own interpretation, you’ll be able to add your own unique voice to the essay.

2 Mistakes to Avoid When Writing About Your Favorite Movie

Writing about your favorite movie can be a fun and rewarding experience. However, there are a few mistakes that you’ll want to avoid if you want the essay to be as good as it can be. Here are two of them;

Regurgitating the plot

When you’re writing about your favorite movie, it’s important to resist the urge to simply regurgitate the plot. While it’s important to give a brief overview of what the film is about, your essay should go beyond just summarizing the story. Instead, focus on discussing the themes of the film and how these themes resonate with you.

Don’t forget to proofread

Once you’re done writing your essay, do not forget to take the time to go through it again. This can help you catch sloppy grammatical or spelling errors that could detract from your essay. In addition, proofreading will also allow you to catch any choppy sentences or awkward phrasing. By taking the time to proofread your essay, you’ll be able to make sure that it is as polished and well-written as possible.

Closing Thoughts

Writing an essay about your favorite movie really shouldn’t be too difficult. Just be sure to take your time to understand the film, brainstorm your thoughts, and proofread your essay before submitting it.

ESSAY WRITING SAMPLE: MY FAVORITE MOVIE

ESSAY WRITING SAMPLE: MY FAVORITE MOVIE

Sample by  My Essay Writer

MY FAVORITE MOVIE

Film is of great importance to society as it is a portrayal of the current society which we live in. It is a get away from the harsh realities of the world into a new and different world. Fictional films, however, put a creative twist to the common themes we see in real life and also offer a different world to escape to. A movie that has lived up to the essence of fictional films and transports you to an alternate reality is Inception. I have seen the movie seven times since its release in 2010, having the last instance about a month ago. It is my favorite fictional film.

Inception is a fictional thriller film released in 2010 that was written, co-produced and directed by Christopher Nolan, who has written, produced and directed other critically acclaimed films such as Interstellar and The Prestige. Inception follows Dom Cobb, played by Academy Award-winning actor Leonardo DiCaprio, who is a professional thief that can steal information from the subconscious of people while asleep. He is given the opportunity to clear his criminal history and reunite him with his children by completing a simple task; implanting someone else’s idea in a target’s subconscious.  [“ Write my essay for me ?” Get help here.]

Cobb cannot accomplish this mission on his own and recruits partners; Arthur (played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt) as his fellow extractor, Ariadne (played by Ellen Page) a graduate architect whose duty is to build the dreamscape and Eames (played by Tom Hardy). Eames is great at impersonating others and using force to get the job done. This occurs within a dream, and Cobb can go deeper in the dreams. A dream within a dream, Cobb, and his partners go through turmoil to implant the idea while Cobb is battling the memory of his dead wife and the urge to stay in the dream with her. The film takes a drastic turn at the end when he is reunited with his children and spins a top which is an indicator of whether he is still dreaming or not. This scene leaves the audience in suspense.

I chose Inception as my favorite film due to some various reasons. Firstly, the cinematography and visual effects of the movie is excellent. The film even won the Academy Award for best visual effects. The film calls for your attention and looking away does one a great disservice. There is a specific scene in the film whereby the dreamscape was crumbling, and the city appeared upside-down. The execution of that specific scene left me in awe.

Secondly, the plot of the film is also exceptional. The fact that Christopher Nolan explored the theme of dreams and having a universe in a dream which can be manipulated by a person to obtain information is brilliant. It explores the idea that dreams seem very real when we are in them but soon we wake up and go about our regular lives. There is never a dull moment in the film as the plot is not predictable. It changes as soon as you think you know what will happen next. You therefore fully concentrate on watching the movie. There were also some interesting and relatable sub-plots such as the relationship between Cobb and his wife who had committed suicide and the relationship between Cobb and his children. [Need an  essay writing service ? Find help here.]

I also enjoy the film due to the seamless acting is done by the cast. Leonardo DiCaprio, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Ellen Page, Tom Hardy, Marion Cotillard and Michael Caine are all critically acclaimed actors and actresses who portrayed their roles with great prowess and were sure to bring the audience into their world.

your favorite movie essay

I also uphold the fact that the film urges the audience to dive deep into the film and think critically. It requires one to be alert and willing to pay undivided attention to fully understand the plot. You forget your reality and come into Cobb’s reality.

Lastly, I am obsessed with the creativity of the entire film. Lucid dreaming is an unexplored concept in visual art. The film is original in that it is not an adaptation of a book or a television show, but it is its entity. From the soundtrack to the visual effects to the dialogue; everything about the film is original. In my opinion, Inception is among the greatest works of art that have come out of the latest decade, and its legacy will live on for decades to come.  [Click  Essay Writer  to order your essay]

To put it simply, film analysis implies watching a movie and then considering its characteristics : genre, structure, contextual context, etc. Film analysis is usually considered to be a form of rhetorical analysis . The key to success here is to formulate a clear and logical argument, supporting it with examples.

🚦 Film Analysis Essay Types

Since a film analysis essay resembles literature analysis, it makes sense that there are several ways to do it. Its types are not limited to the ones described here. Moreover, you are free to combine the approaches in your essay as well. Since your writing reflects your own opinion, there is no universal way to do it.

  • Semiotic analysis . If you’re using this approach, you are expected to interpret the film’s symbolism. You should look for any signs that may have a hidden meaning. Often, they reveal some character’s features. To make the task more manageable, you can try to find the objects or concepts that appear on the screen multiple times. What is the context they appear in? It might lead you to the hidden meaning of the symbols.
  • Narrative structure analysis . This type is quite similar to a typical literature guide. It includes looking into the film’s themes, plot, and motives. The analysis aims to identify three main elements: setup, confrontation, and resolution. You should find out whether the film follows this structure and what effect it creates. It will make the narrative structure analysis essay if you write about the theme and characters’ motivations as well.
  • Contextual analysis . Here, you would need to expand your perspective. Instead of focusing on inner elements, the contextual analysis looks at the time and place of the film’s creation. Therefore, you should work on studying the cultural context a lot. It can also be a good idea to mention the main socio-political issues of the time. You can even relate the film’s success to the director or producer and their career.
  • Mise-en-scene analysis . This type of analysis works with the most distinctive feature of the movies, audiovisual elements. However, don’t forget that your task is not only to identify them but also to explain their importance. There are so many interconnected pieces of this puzzle: the light to create the mood, the props to show off characters’ personalities, messages hidden in the song lyrics.

Film analysis types.

To write an effective film analysis essay, it is important to follow specific format requirements that include the following:

  • Standard essay structure. Just as with any essay, your analysis should consist of an introduction with a strong thesis statement, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. The main body usually includes a summary and an analysis of the movie’s elements.
  • Present tense for events in the film. Use the present tense when describing everything that happens in the movie. This way, you can make smooth transitions between describing action and dialogue. It will also improve the overall narrative flow.
  • Proper formatting of the film’s title. Don’t enclose the movie’s title in quotation marks; instead, italicize it. In addition, use the title case : that is, capitalize all major words.
  • Proper use of the characters’ names. When you mention a film character for the first time, name the actor portraying them. After that, it is enough to write only the character’s name.
  • In-text citations. Use in-text citations when describing certain scenes or shots from the movie. Format them according to your chosen citation style. If you use direct quotes, include the time-stamp range instead of page numbers. Here’s how it looks in the MLA format: (Smith 0:11:24–0:12:35).

Even though film analysis is similar to the literary one, you might still feel confused with where to begin. No need to worry; there are only a few additional steps you need to consider during the writing process.

✔️ Reread the prompt twice! It’s crucial because your thesis statement and main arguments will be based on it. To help yourself at this stage, try an . It will make your efforts more productive.
✔️ Take your time and watch the film as many times as you need so that you don’t miss anything. You might find it helpful to take notes or even use a screenplay if you can find one.
✔️ You should write down a thesis statement and organize the main ideas. Don’t forget to support your arguments with evidence and make sure they align with the assignment requirements.
✔️ The last step is writing the first draft of your essay. The text doesn’t necessarily have to be perfect since you still need to take some time to edit and to proofread it.In the next sections, there are more detailed descriptions of how to get every step done quickly. And remember that you can always ask your supervisor for help if you have any questions!

Starting Your Film Analysis Essay

There are several things you need to do before you start writing your film analysis paper. First and foremost, you have to watch the movie. Even if you have seen it a hundred times, you need to watch it again to make a good film analysis essay.

Note that you might be given an essay topic or have to think of it by yourself. If you are free to choose a topic for your film analysis essay, reading some critical reviews before you watch the film might be a good idea. By doing this in advance, you will already know what to look for when watching the movie.

In the process of watching, keep the following tips in mind:

  • Consider your impression of the movie
  • Enumerate memorable details
  • Try to interpret the movie message in your way
  • Search for the proof of your ideas (quotes from the film)
  • Make comments on the plot, settings, and characters
  • Draw parallels between the movie you are reviewing and some other movies

Making a Film Analysis Essay Outline

Once you have watched and possibly re-watched your assigned or chosen movie from an analytical point of view, you will need to create a movie analysis essay outline . The task is pretty straightforward: the outline can look just as if you were working on a literary analysis or an article analysis.

  • Introduction : This includes the basics of the movie, including the title, director, and the date of release. You should also present the central theme or ideas in the movie and your thesis statement .
  • Summary : This is where you take the time to present an overview of the primary concepts in the movie, including the five Ws (who, what, when, where, and why)—don’t forget how!—as well as anything you wish to discuss that relates to the point of view, style, and structure.
  • Analysis : This is the body of the essay and includes your critical analysis of the movie, why you did or did not like it, and any supporting material from the film to support your views. It would help if you also discussed whether the director and writer of the movie achieved the goal they set out to achieve.
  • Conclusion: This is where you can state your thesis again and provide a summary of the primary concepts in a new and more convincing manner, making a case for your analysis. You can also include a call-to-action that will invite the reader to watch the movie or avoid it entirely.

Writing & Editing Your Film Analysis Essay

We have already mentioned that there are differences between literary analysis and film analysis. They become especially important when one starts writing their film analysis essay.

First of all, the evidence you include to support the arguments is not the same. Instead of quoting the text, you might need to describe the audiovisual elements.

However, the practice of describing the events is similar in both types. You should always introduce a particular sequence in the present tense. If you want to use a piece of a dialogue between more than two film characters, you can use block quotes. However, since there are different ways to do it, confirm with your supervisor.

For your convenience, you might as well use the format of the script, for which you don’t have to use quotation marks:

ELSA: But she won’t remember I have powers?

KING: It’s for the best.

Finally, to show off your proficiency in the subject, look at the big picture. Instead of just presenting the main elements in your analysis, point out their significance. Describe the effect they make on the overall impression form the film. Moreover, you can dig deeper and suggest the reasons why such elements were used in a particular scene to show your expertise.

Film Analysis Example #1: The Intouchables

Raising acute social problems in modern cinema is a common approach to draw the public’s attention to the specific issues and challenges of people facing crucial obstacles. As a film for review, The Intouchables by Oliver Nakache and Éric Toledano will be analyzed, and one of the themes raised in this movie is the daily struggle of the person with severe disabilities. This movie is a biographical drama with comedy elements. The Intouchables describes the routine life of a French millionaire who is confined to a wheelchair and forced to receive help from his servants. The acquaintance of the disabled person with a young and daring man from Parisian slums changes the lives of both radically. The film shows that for a person with disabilities, recognition as a full member of society is more important than sympathy and compassion, and this message expressed comically raises an essential problem of human loneliness.

Movie Analysis Example #2: Parasite

Parasite is a 2019 South Korean black comedy thriller movie directed by Bong Joon-ho and is the first film with a non-English script to win Best Picture at the Oscars in 2020. With its overwhelming plot and acting, this motion picture retains a long-lasting effect and some kind of shock. The class serves as a backbone and a primary objective of social commentary within the South Korean comedy/thriller (Kench, 2020). Every single element and detail in the movie, including the student’s stone, the contrasting architecture, family names, and characters’ behavior, contribute to the central topic of the universal problem of classism and wealth disparity. The 2020 Oscar-winning movie Parasite (2019) is a phenomenal cinematic portrayal and a critical message to modern society regarding the severe outcomes of the long-established inequalities within capitalism.

The speaking test in IELTS is one of the most crucial aspects of improving your band score. For this purpose, you need to address all the aspects of the question adequately. Aim to structure your essay in a descriptive and well-structured way.

Describe your favourite movie that you watched recently: sample 2, important ielts exam resources, amongst the latest hollywood films, describe your favorite movie that moved you: sample 1.

Some movies have the power to strike the perfect balance of acting, storyline, and cinematography. Such movies create a long-lasting impact on our minds. These movies are not just our usual entertaining content, in which we laugh, cry, and cease to think after a while. In fact, they stimulate our thought process, enabling us to question various aspects of our lives.

‘The Father’ is one such movie that created a long-lasting impact. As a massive fan of Sir Anthony Hopkins, I was already awestruck by watching the few glimpses of his acting prowess in the trailer. So, I set a reminder for its release and waited eagerly in excitement.

Directed by Florian Zeller, ‘The Father’ is a psychological drama in which a lonely, aging man named Anthony refuses to take assistance from his daughter, Anne. After some days, he feels abandoned when she tells him about her decision to move abroad. Due to old age, Anthony has difficulty remembering people, and events, thereby losing grip on reality.

Overall, as an audience, we got a realistic understanding of how dementia impacts the life of an aging loner. The message of the movie was simple but highly moving nevertheless. The movie had phenomenal acting, screenplay, and cinematography. It depicted how a family is crucial to support older people with practical challenges. I can never forget the final scene of this movie. In this scene, Anthony breaks down and says, ‘I want my mommy!’

It left me in tears but deeply appreciative of my family.

Most recently, ‘The Adam Project’ made its way to one of my all-time favorite movies. As a massive fan of Ryan Reynolds and Mark Ruffalo, I was excited to buy tickets for this film. So, I accompanied my friends to the theatres to watch this sci-fi action film. The cinema hall was filled with an enthusiastic crowd eager to watch Reynold’s evergreen comedy.

The atmosphere was terrific, and it felt like a mini-festival of sci-fi enthusiasts. I adore the concept of time travel and never miss any opportunity to watch such films. They introduce us to a fantastic world where we can challenge the practical issues in time travel. From the first scene, I was amazed at the wonderful videography and location of young Adam’s house.

It was also refreshing to see Jennifer Garner in a movie with Mark Ruffalo. The little kid in the movie did some excellent comic acting. The locations, fighting sequence, and concept of time travel felt marvelous. I liked the coordination between big and young Adam throughout the movie. The villain, Sorian, wanted to kill Adam to keep manipulating the trade market with the invention of time travel. But, in the end, Sorian kills her younger self, thereby concluding the movie.

What I loved about this movie was that it didn’t just have action sequences; it also had an emotional touch. The relationship between a son(s) and his father was incredibly touching. Overall, the movie conveyed that tampering with time is not an ethical discovery. Hence, one should always enjoy our current moments and live life to the fullest!

Thus, the following recommendations will help you write your essay and be satisfied in the process of crafting a unique work.

Watch the Movie Several Times

Once you have made up your mind about what movie to write about, make sure you get acquainted with it well. Even if you know it by heart and remember each episode so clearly that you can talk about it when being woken up in the middle of the night, it doesn’t guarantee your essay’s effectiveness. First of all, you are in a different position now and should consider various nuances to depict the idea of your subject in writing. Secondly, you are taking the role of a critic and should pay attention to such issues as how the plot changes while estimating the operator’s work and the director’s attitude to filming. You may probably want to write about the less appealing movies to you as it will be easier to criticize them and do a review. Such an approach will enable you to find as many inaccuracies and inadequacies as possible which wouldn’t happen with the film you enjoy watching. Making notes will also help highlight important points and apply them to your work.

If you need more time to devote to such creative writing as movie essays, you can turn to a writing service to help you manage all the workload of studies you are assigned to do. Reading 99papers.com reviews will provide you with useful information on the service to help you decide whether it’s an appropriate company to contact.

Work on the Film Background

It’s important to do some research and find out real events that the film is based on. Thus, you can make your own investigation to discover interesting facts about what pushed the director to create a movie that doesn’t leave many people indifferent. If you want to talk about a fantasy movie, you can gather other points that serve as a foundation for creators to make up the plot utilized in the movie. Or you can choose a touching romantic story that will offer you great chances for discussions and arguments. So whatever genre or type of film you pick out, make sure you tell about its background or mention real events.

Talk about the Favourite Characters

The next stage of your work will be discussing the main characters. Thus, you can prepare your notes that you have dealt with before and use the information you have written about people involved in the movie. But try not to follow the likeness criteria when writing about the character. Your point that it’s your favorite actor doesn’t fit well into the format of the task. It is essential to describe the characters in terms of their dilemmas, choices, and development, especially their evolution during the plot and the changes they had to go through to become people they appeared in the end. All these nuances should be taken into account when working with each character and describing their motives in their current situations.

Suppose your studies in college take all your time, leaving no energy to manage your movie essay. In this case, you can always use a reliable writing service’s assistance. Learning about bookwormlab will help you decide whether a particular company really suits your needs and requirements.

Share Your Reflections on the Movie

Finally, you can move to the part where you can discuss your attitude and vision on your favourite film. Your goal at this point is to demonstrate what you think about certain events and characters. It would be great if you analysed the acting, scenario, music, and special effects utilized in the picture. You can either show your admiration for the subjects listed above or offer suggestions on how to improve the moments to make the film look more outstanding. Presenting your ideas and personal attitude will make your essay unique and individualised.

My Favorite Movie: Titanic (Essay Sample)

Table of Contents

Introduction

What’s your favorite film? Writing an essay on a movie that made an impact on your heart is a fun and memorable experience. It is a time of revisiting your emotional journey through a narrative that resonated with you.

This essay outlines one’s favorite film, which happens to be Titanic. It contains a summary of the author’s highlights of his immersive experience with the movie.

My Favorite Movie: Titanic

Titanic will always be my favorite movie, not only because of the historical relevance of the movie’s storyline. The scenery featured in the movie and the assertiveness and brilliance of the actors makes the movie stand head and shoulder above all others.

Man with a Bowl of Popcorn Watching TV at Home

A 1997 hit, Titanic emotionally unveils the bittersweet story of two teenagers who encounter each other on a ship and are instantly smitten. Jack Dawson (Leonardo di Caprio) and Rose Bukater (Kate Winslet), while on the RMS Titanic on its maiden voyage from the coast of England to the United States, fall in love at first sight, despite their different social classes. Dawson, a young and talented artist from a poor background, and Rose, a young woman married to a wealthy but cruel older man who she does not love, have an intense whirlwind affair on the ship.

Directed by filmmaker James Cameron, Titanic reveals the nature of you-and-me-against-the-world relationships that exist in society, which continue to be mirrored in this day and age. While still frowned upon by more traditional segments of society today, a teenage girl from a wealthy family can get married to a poor boy from a humble background,  as long as the two are in love.

Why Titanic is The Ultimate Love Story

Apart from the power of love thriving and surviving in every situation as a dominant theme, Titanic reminds us that we can find love anywhere regardless of the prevailing situation.

A particularly poignant scene shows Rose about to jump off the back of the ship into the cold ocean water when Jack tells her, “I’ll be right after you.” He was ready to jump into the water to save her.  Another favorite moment of mine is when the ship’s crew’s attention is drawn to Jack and Rose as they make love on the ship’s deck, just as the ship hits an iceberg.

The death of 1500 out of 2200 people on board and the frantic effort to save some of the passengers add to the tragic beauty of the story. It was a heartbreaking backdrop to Jack trying to save his lover as the bitter-cold ocean water sweeps onto the deck, flinging many passengers out into the sea. Despite many people opposing their romance, most notably Rose’s mother, their courage to face the odds reinforces the theme of timeless and bold love.

Little details in the film’s cinematography make the story more compelling. The dance of the dolphins rhythmically aligns itself to the movement of the ship, the warmth of the glorious sunshine greeting the faces of excited travelers, and a masterful soundtrack create a glorious backdrop to a tale worth telling.

Few movies inspire as much emotion as Titanic. It definitely stands out for its combination of intelligent elements and perfect acting. The main actors bring out the message of the movie clearly, and they thoughtfully and sensitively embody the situation and life of the twentieth century as well as the modern times.

Finally, I love how Celine Dion interpreted the theme song, “My Heart Will Go On.” It achingly reflects the journey of the star-crossed lovers, and the resolve to move forward with life to do that love justice even when their time together has ended. The hopeful lyrics, penned by Will Jennings, are so well-written.

The 1997 movie Titanic remains to be my all-time favorite movie. Every aspect of the movie,  from casting to scene selection, is done flawlessly and the themes are woven into every scene clearly and perfectly.

Titanic Essay In 200 Words

No other Hollywood-made love story hits me just as much as that of Jack Dawson and Rose Bukator in the award-winning picture Titanic. I simply could not get through the whole movie without a box of tissues and a glass of wine.

The journey of these two characters and their evolution as lovers are beautiful to watch. Though hailing from opposite social classes, being stuck together on a ship caused them to see past their differences and fall head-over-heels in love.

Director James Cameron’s guidance of Kate Winslet and Leonardo di Caprio is commendable. Although the two actors are already brilliant and have good Hollywood track records to begin with, his oversight really helped them bring out the essence of the main characters. Billy Zane deserves recognition as well, as he played a villain with a believable motivation.

Though only Rose survived at the very end, I was satisfied with the way that Titanic ended. It had its own take on a heartbreaking but hopeful ending. It made me look back on the couple’s best moments together on the ship, but also wish Rose well on a new chapter of her journey without Jack.

What about you? What’s your favorite movie?

How To Start A Talk About Your Favorite Film?

Talking about something that has made such an incredible mark on your life should not be so difficult. It should, as a matter of fact, come quite naturally to us. In writing about something from the silver screen that you found unforgettable, before reviewing the actual scenes and lines, it is good to always begin first with your “Why.” Why did I find this film so thrilling? What was it about the movie that I connected with so passionately? How did the experience of the artists enrich the characters? How did the cinematography provide an interesting background for the journey to unfold? How did I see the director’s influence on the acting and styling of the set? How does it compare to some of the films in my list of favorites?

How To Write A Reaction Paper About Titanic Movie?

In order to excellently pen a reaction paper about Titanic, you should first recall your very own reactions to the film, especially during your first time watching it. What were the raw emotions that you felt, whether positive or negative? What roused you and what bored you? What parts of it satisfied you and what scenes left you hanging? Identifying the key elements that provoked you to react is crucial in figuring out how you’re going to write that paper. It is a process of you thoughtfully dissecting Titanic and pointing out the areas that you liked and didn’t like.

Quick Guide on How to Write a Movie Review Essay

your favorite movie essay

What Is a Movie Review

The internet has revolutionized the realm of film criticism. No matter a movie's level of quality, it is always worth analyzing. Despite the growing number of individuals attempting to write about movies, few are successful. Most people do not provide insightful analysis, instead simply state how much they liked or disliked the film.

A movie criticism, usually composed by a professional in film studies, takes a comprehensive look at the film from a historical, social, political, or theoretical standpoint. This is unlike the opinion or suggestion given in a movie review, which is shorter and more concise.

A remarkable aspect of a good film review is that it doesn't just rate the movie but provides explicit views that form the critique's basis. This form of writing, like crafting essays, research papers, and term papers, should be insightful and draw the reader in quickly. It's important to discuss the reputation of the lead actors and directors and to write about what you expected and if they were met. The reviewer must explain a story's development without recalling major plot points and endings. The review must be concise, engaging, and should involve metaphors, specific words, analogies, etc.

Movie Review Purpose

Most film reviews are intended to guide readers in deciding whether to view, rent, or purchase the film. They should provide the necessary information to aid readers in deciding without divulging any fundamental details, such as the storyline or any surprises. This paper is common in schools because the lecturer wants to evaluate the student's ability to think critically and report the event easily for others to understand.

Movie reviews typically present a brief summary of the film's storyline. They provide readers with an overview of the characters, relationships, and scenarios but do not convey the complete narrative. Perusing the review should be different from seeing the movie. Nonetheless, feel free to highlight the essential moments or pivotal points that make the film worthwhile viewing.

Our college essay writing service has put together some advice on composing a movie review essay like a real critic, so let's explore the article further!

How to Write a Movie Review: Movie Review Outline

The structure is key when it comes to the quality of your paper. Don't neglect the power of a good outline, no matter what paper you're writing. Outlines help you stay on track and make sure your paper flows well.

Taking the time to arrange your ideas before starting to write is an effective way to save time further down the line. With a well-structured plan already in place, you won't have to worry about other elements. This will also make the writing process less stressful. Here is a guide on how to organize your movie review outline:

Writing a Movie Review_ Step-by-Step Guide

How Do You Start a Movie Review Essay: Introduction

The introductory paragraph is the first obvious step in crafting a movie review essay outline. Here, you want to quickly captivate the reader. Deliver your viewpoint instantly and make it unambiguous. Don't leave the audience wondering whether you enjoyed the film. Tell them right off the bat so you have time to justify your assessment throughout the remainder of the process.

In the introduction movie review should also describe your thesis. Develop the main concept for your essay that you can support using your perceptions of the movie's various aspects. The reader should be able to tell from this statement if you thought the film was fantastic, awful, or simply alright. By including a thesis statement, you may move your analysis beyond the plot synopsis phase into the movie critique category, which is considered a separate creative process.

Crafting Your Essay Movie Review Analysis

According to our research paper service , film analysis is similar to building a case. You're attempting to influence the reader to follow your recommendation to watch or disregard the film. So, you must ensure your essay movie review will be convincing. Giving instances that demonstrate the validity of your personal opinion is the only method to do this. If you find any dialogue in the movie that you think best exemplifies whether the work is strong or not, utilize quotes. This also applies to all of the movie's artistic decisions. But, just because a movie's narrative isn't strong or engaging doesn't indicate the rest of the film is worthless. Carefully highlight how some factors might undermine the movie in your explanation.

The movie's plot is only one component and shouldn't dominate the overall piece. The following are the important aspects to include in your movie review structure:

Cinematography - Cinematography covers much more than simply camera angles. It includes how the picture is lit, how it moves, appears, and what lenses are used. Here you can try the following analysis: 'Warm, gentle colors are used throughout the film, combined with soothing whites and grays, to simultaneously create and gradually tear away the characters' romantic sentiments for one another. There is a painting-like quality to each image.'

Editing - The editing is arguably the absolute star of what creates a good movie review example. It affects both the duration and the flow of a movie. Without effective editing, there would be uncomfortable gaps between pictures and many errors.

Costuming - The clothing the characters wear is called a costume, but there are a number of things to consider while evaluating movie costumes. You should be able to decide if the outfits suit the characters and the movie's atmosphere.

Casting and Acting - Finding the ideal performers to bring characters to life is the goal of casting. This sometimes entails seeing performers portray both familiar personas and figures who are entirely at odds with who they are. Casting, therefore, involves more than just finding talented performers. You can assess the acting in the following way: 'Even though he excels while on the go, his stoic behaviorism causes him to fall short of his co-star during calm scenes where he keeps a blank look on his face.'

Once you have finished analyzing the acting, directing, cinematography, setting, etc., wrap up with concise, stimulating wording to sustain readers' attention. Don't forget to provide a few examples to support your statements about the film.

Concluding Your Essay Movie Review

Finalize your review by coming full circle. Close the review by returning to your introductory fact or thesis. Give your readers a refresher on the movie's most intriguing aspects. It's important to remember that before choosing a movie, viewers check reviews. Finish with a statement indicating whether it is worthwhile for them to view. Be specific about who this movie will be more fascinating to and why in your suggestions. Remember that your ending is your last shot at influencing your audience, so use it wisely.

Helpful Tips on Writing Movie Reviews

Here are some extra helpful tips to keep in mind when unsure how to write a movie review essay:

Mistakes to Avoid While Making a Movie Review

  • Add Your Own Personal Feel to Your Movie Critique - You might not have much spare time for your pastime of reviewing. You won't be able to write a movie review, though, if you just wing it without reading what others have said. Make a note of the things that intrigued you, alarmed you, made you uncomfortable, or caused you to pause and consider something, and then use that list as the basis for your research.
  • Develop a Distinctive Writing Style - Have an idol—it's good for you. You must be careful not to just paraphrase and duplicate what they say without adding your own original viewpoint. Instead, in order to stand out from the throng, you must discover your own voice. When writing movie reviews, you should also have a distinct writing style.
  • Include Extensive Information -Mention the film's photographer, special effects designer, and director. Your review might be significantly impacted by this. Then you may list all the memorable movie moments that also stuck with you.
  • Voice Your Views and Back Up Your Criticism - Give your own assessment of the film. Make sure you have evidence to support your criticisms. Use the movie's details that most shocked or humiliated you. Review genuine information rather than merely expressing your opinions without supporting details.

IELTS Speaking Test PART 2 Sample Question and Answer

by Jane Lawson at DailyStep.com

Question:  Describe your favourite movie

You should say:

  • What the film is about
  • Why you like it so much
  • What message the movie gives.

Answer:  It’s quite hard to say what my favourite movie is because there are quite a few to choose from! But I would say that the one that  made the strongest impression on me is a German film called ‘The Lives of Others’.

This film is set in communist East Germany, shortly before the fall of the Berlin Wall. At that time , the Stasi, the East German secret police, used to spy on all kinds of people.

The two main characters in the film are a playwright called Dreyman and a Stasi spy called Weisler, whose job it is to keep Dreyman under 24 hour surveillance. Weisler is supposed to be reporting back to his superiors at the Stasi in order to discredit the playwright.

However, he develops a strong sympathy for the playwright and his girlfriend, and determines to protect them by not reporting anything significant.

The scenes in the film where it cuts from the colourful and interesting lives of Dreyman and his friends to the lonely attic where Weisler is sitting really show the contrast between the two men. The film is shot in such a way that it makes you believe you are also spying on Dreyman, it even made me feel a bit guilty!

I like this film because it has fascinating, 3-dimensional characters , and also the plot has plenty of twists . Right up until the end of the film, we are left guessing how it could possibly end.

It is also very thought-provoking because it makes you wonder how many people working for the Stasi actually did protect the people they were spying on.

As for the message it gives, I would say the main message is that we can find kindness and humanity in the most unexpected of places. The film makes us realise that nothing is ever black and white! The film also serves as a warning about the dangers of an oppressive, paranoid regime and is perhaps quite pertinent in this current age of mass surveillance.

This sample answer took around 2 minutes, which is the maximum time you need to speak for without stopping in Part 2 of the IELTS speaking exam.

Step By Step Guide to Writing an Essay on Film

By Film Threat Staff | December 29, 2021

Writing an essay about a film sounds like a fun assignment to do. As part of the assignment, you get to watch the movie and write an analytical essay about your impressions. However, you will soon find that you’re staring at an empty sheet of paper or computer screen with no idea what to write, how to start writing your essay, or the essential points that need to be covered and analyzed. As an  essay writing service proves, watching the movie countless times isn’t all there is to write a film analysis essay. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you with an essay service :

your favorite movie essay

1. Watch the Movie

This is the obvious starting point, but surprisingly many students skip this step. It doesn’t matter if you’ve watched the movie twice before. If you’re asked to write an essay about it, you need to watch it again. Watching the film again allows you to pay more attention to specific elements to help you write an in-depth analysis about it.

Watching the movie is crucial because it helps you not specific parts of the movie that can be used as illustrations and examples in your essay. You’re also going to explore and analyze the movie theme within your structured plan. Some of the critical elements that you have to look out for while watching the movie that may be crucial for your essay are:

  • Key plot moments
  • Editing style
  • Stylistic elements
  • Scenario execution
  • Musical elements

2. Introduction

Your introduction will contain essential information about the film, such as the title, release date, director’s name, etc. This familiarizes the reader with the movie’s primary background information. In addition, researching the filmmaker may be crucial for your essay because it may help you discover valuable insights for your film analysis.

The introduction should also mention the movie’s central theme and explain why you think it was made that way.

Do not forget to include your thesis statement, which explains your focus on the movie.

3. Write a Summary

According to an  essay writing service  providing students   help with essays , a movie summary comes after the introduction. It includes the film’s basic premise, but it doesn’t have to reveal too many details about the film. It’s a summary, after all. Write the summary like your readers have not heard about the movie before, so you can mention the most basic plots but assume you have minimal time so you won’t be going into great details.

your favorite movie essay

4. Write Your Analysis

This is the central part of the essay in which you analyze the movie critically and state your impressions about the film. Ensure to support your claims with relevant materials from the movie.

There are also several creative elements in a movie that are connected to make the film a whole. You must pay attention to these elements while watching the movie and analyze them in this part of the essay.

In this, you are looking out for the dialogs, character development, completion of scenes, and logical event sequences in the film to analyze.

Ensure you try to understand the logic behind events in the film and the actor’s motives to explain the scenario better.

The responsibility of different parts of the movie, such as plan selection and scenario execution, falls on the director. So, your analysis here focuses on how the director realized the script compared to his other movies. Understanding the director’s style of directing may be crucial to coming up with a conclusion relevant to your analysis and thesis.

The casting of a film is a significant element to consider in your essay. Without a great actor, the scriptwriter and director can’t bring their ideas to life. So, watch the actor’s acting and determine if they portrayed the character effectively and if their acting aligns with the film’s main idea.

  • Musical element

A movie’s musical element enhances some of the sceneries or actions in the film and sets the mood. It has a massive impact on the movie, so it’s an essential element to analyze in your essay.

  • Visual elements

This includes special effects, make-up, costumes, etc., which significantly impact the film. These elements must reflect the film’s atmosphere. It is even more crucial for historical movies since it has to be specific about an era.

Ensure to analyze elements relevant to your thesis statement, so you don’t drift from your main point.

5. Conclusion

In concluding your essay, you have to summarize the primary concepts more convincingly to support your analysis. Finally, you may include a CTA for readers to watch or avoid the movie.

These are the crucial steps to take when writing an essay about a film . Knowing this beforehand prevents you from struggling to start writing after watching the movie.

Your chance of acceptance, your chancing factors, extracurriculars, can i mention my favorite book or movie in my college essay.

Hey guys! I have this idea of writing about my favorite book/movie and how it has influenced me. Do you think it's a good topic for a college essay? Will it make me stand out or seem too generic? Any suggestions would be really helpful!

Hey there! Writing about your favorite book or movie can indeed be a good topic for a college essay, as long as you connect it to your personal growth or experiences. Colleges are looking for a glimpse into your personality, and how the book or movie has influenced you can be an effective way to reveal that.

The key is to focus less on the book/movie itself, and more on how it has played a role in shaping your values, passions, or outlook on life. You want to make sure that your essay is personal and unique to you, so choose an angle that shows what you've learned or how it has changed you in some way.

In order to avoid sounding too generic, be specific in your essay and provide examples that highlight your personal story. Just remember to stay true to your voice and convey your genuine passion.

Essay on My Favourite Movie 3 Idiots

Students are often asked to write an essay on My Favourite Movie 3 Idiots in their schools and colleges. And if you’re also looking for the same, we have created 100-word, 250-word, and 500-word essays on the topic.

Let’s take a look…

100 Words Essay on My Favourite Movie 3 Idiots

Introduction.

I love watching movies, but the one that has deeply influenced me is “3 Idiots”. It’s a Bollywood film that inspires and entertains.

“3 Idiots” follows the lives of three engineering students. They explore friendship, love, and passion while challenging the education system.

Aamir Khan plays the lead role of Rancho, a genius who loves learning. His friends Farhan and Raju are brilliantly portrayed by R. Madhavan and Sharman Joshi.

Why I Love It

“3 Idiots” delivers a powerful message – chase your dreams, not grades. It’s a movie that’s both fun and meaningful.

250 Words Essay on My Favourite Movie 3 Idiots

Plot and characters.

The narrative revolves around three engineering students – Rancho, Farhan, and Raju – studying at the prestigious Imperial College of Engineering. Each character is unique, with Rancho being an innovative genius, Farhan a passionate photographer stuck in the wrong profession, and Raju a fearful yet honest individual.

Themes and Messages

The film is an eloquent critique of the Indian education system and societal expectations. It emphasizes the importance of understanding and applying knowledge rather than rote learning. The phrase “All is well”, synonymous with the movie, serves as a reminder to remain optimistic amidst adversities.

Impact and Personal Reflection

“3 Idiots” left a significant impact on me. It taught me to follow my passion instead of succumbing to societal pressures. The movie’s humour and emotional depth, coupled with its powerful message, is what sets it apart.

In conclusion, “3 Idiots” is not just a movie, but a life-altering experience. It questions the status quo and encourages viewers to break free from societal norms. It is a movie that remains etched in my memory, and I believe it will continue to inspire many more in the future.

500 Words Essay on My Favourite Movie 3 Idiots

The Indian film industry, known as Bollywood, is renowned for its diverse and vibrant cinematic experiences. Among the multitude of films it has produced, one that stands out for me is the 2009 release, 3 Idiots. Directed by Rajkumar Hirani, the movie is a blend of comedy, drama, and profound social commentary. It remains my favourite due to its timeless relevance, compelling narrative, and the profound life lessons it imparts.

Plot and Characterization

The film explores various themes such as friendship, love, societal expectations, and the flaws in the education system. The central theme, however, revolves around the pursuit of passion over societal norms. The movie’s famous quote, “Pursue excellence, and success will follow,” encapsulates its core message. It criticizes the rote learning method and emphasizes understanding and applying knowledge. The movie also underscores the importance of innovation and creativity, which are often stifled by the rigid education system.

Impact and Influence

3 Idiots had a significant impact on the audience and the film industry. It broke numerous box-office records, but more importantly, it triggered conversations about the education system and societal pressures. The movie’s influence transcended beyond entertainment, inspiring many to question and challenge the status quo. The film’s success proved that movies could be both entertaining and thought-provoking.

Describe your favorite movie essay

I am a student in stage ……. I love watching movies so I go to the cinema every week and it is the weekend, and my favorite film which I enjoy when I watch it is Science fiction film, because science fiction films develop a person’s thinking, and I usually like to go to the movies with my friends.

While my sister’s favorite film is romantic, she likes romantic films that talk about emotional problems. My sister loves these films because she knows many of the problems of teenagers and how to deal with these problems and identify the correct ways to solve emotional problems.

My mother’s favorite film is the social film. She likes to watch social films because these films present special problems for the family and the relationship of the husband to his wife, as well as the father’s relationship with the sons and the relationship of the children with each other, and also the problems of adolescents and the role of both the family and the school in solving these problems Related to drug use, and other things that harm the health and psychological health of young people.

My father’s favorite film is the historical film. My father loves historical films because we know the important historical events of previous years and the effects of these events on humanity, especially films dealing with wars such as World War I and World War II.

My favorite movie essay

Undoubtedly, there are many of my favorite famous films that are shown a lot on the cinema screen or on TV. But there is only one movie shown every year on New Year’s Eve that is beloved by all of us and we cannot get bored of it and it is Home alone.

This wonderful film describes a naughty child who has many naughty sisters, due to pressure and lack of attention from the mother, who forgets him alone at home and faces thieves and dangers in a funny, intelligent and planning way.

Since my childhood, this film represents a lot to me, whether from the comedic aspect or the intellectual aspect and the development of intelligence.

I found the story completely intricate and a wonderful performance by all the heroes, a creative portrayal that brings you into the atmosphere and makes you feel all the funny, sad and terrifying feelings.

I can say that this is my favorite movie that always makes me fall in love with it and I never get tired of watching it.

Describe your favourite movie essay

My favorite movie is Brave Heart, starring the great Mel Gibson. It was filmed in the nineties, but it is constantly shown on TV. I love this great work very much, there are many wonderful things in it such as, love, sincerity, trust, treachery, dream, sacrifice, ambition and planning.

The film presents many aspects of the qualities that exist in life, whether for the period contemporaneous with the events of the film, or to this day with different titles, names and jobs.

I liked the ending very much and found it realistic and did not have a wide imagination that underestimated the mind of the viewer.

To begin with, baseball is my favorite sport. Laded baseball and softball for many years as a kid and as a young man. So any movie about baseball is Of some interest to me. Not all sports movies are normally very good, but this is one is of the best. This movie is not just about baseball, but it is one of the main themes. It’s also about life in a small town and being strong enough to follow your dreams, no matter where they might lead you. Also, Kevin Costner plays Ray Kindness, the main character in the movie. Besides being one of my favorite actors, he is also a very good baseball player. Most actors aren’t very good athletes, but Costner is an exception.

He is an extraordinary athlete. He has portrayed a baseball player in two other movies. They are Bull Durham and For Love of the Game. These movies are very good, but, to me, they can’t compare to Field Of Dreams. They just don’t have the magic that this one has. The other reason that I like this movie so much is that there are many moments in it that catch you off guard and make you feel really good. Several of these moments give me Goosebumps every time I watch the movie. It is the same feeling I get at the end of Lion King when Samba defeats Scar and then scenes Pride Rock to assume his rightful position.

It’s like; you know everything going to be okay for a while. There are many other reasons why I like this movie so much, but these are just the main ones. I don’t like this movie just because Cotter’s in it and baseball is one of its main themes, because the acting is great, the scenery is beautiful, the story is amazing, and the story that is taken leaves you surprised at times. I like it because it’s just such a great movie. As a matter of fact, many class fellows who watched it with me also like it. This just says that this movie is one of the best movies ever.

‘the enjoyment of human folly’: abby howells on the beauty of taskmaster .

avatar

  • Share Story

The award-winning comedian and upcoming star of Taskmaster NZ takes us through her life in TV, including the call of the Beaurepaires ad and the power of Fran Drescher.

When Abby Howells was cast in the upcoming season of Taskmaster NZ, her first call was to her parents back in Mosgiel. “I actually had a time in my life where I went through a breakup and I moved back in with my parents and had no job, so me and my mum and dad just watched all the British and New Zealand seasons of Taskmaster together,” she tells The Spinoff. “They were so stoked when I got to call them and say, ‘Hey mum and dad, guess what? I don’t live with you anymore, and I’ve got a job, and it’s Taskmaster’.”

As a huge fan of the series, which pits comedians against each other in a series of nonsensical and complicated tasks, Howells says it’s the mix of predictability and unpredictability that makes Taskmaster so special. “It’s also this process of falling in love with the people,” she says. “A new season starts and you’re like, ‘oh, I’ll never like these ones as much as the last ones’ but then you always fall in love with them.”

your favorite movie essay

But being on the other side of Taskmaster brought with it some new revelations. “When you do the tasks, it’s just you for the whole day, so you’re like the special princess of the day,” she explains. “They do a really good job of making you feel good about yourself, so I walked out thinking: ‘I think I’m going to win Taskmaster’. Spoiler alert, I’m not good at Taskmaster.” In fact, before one live studio task, Howells was told that if she lost the live task, she’d be the lowest scoring contestant for a single episode across all the franchises.

Although she’s popped up on plenty of comedy panel shows such as 7 Days and Guy Mont Spelling Bee, Howells says Taskmaster captures something special. “It’s the first time I managed to totally lose self-consciousness on television,” she says. “I also found that the things I felt the most embarrassed about ended up being my biggest successes, because they’re the funniest.” Turns out there’s some surprisingly deep life lessons in a show where contestants hold up two milk bottles over a microwave for as long as possible.

“Maybe it’s the enjoyment of human folly,” she says. “We are all imperfect in this life.”

your favorite movie essay

My earliest television memory is… I had a special version of The Wizard of Oz that my parents taped off the Sunday movie classics. It was a very special edited version that my dad put together that cut out all the scenes with the Wicked Witch of the West because she was too scary. I used to watch it all the time, and I remember pushing it into the VHS and thinking, “I’m so sorry, Dorothy, I know you’re tired because, but I want you to do it all over again.”

The show I used to rush home from school to watch was… Cardcaptors. I honestly can’t tell you what it was about, but it was Sailor Moon-adjacent. I think it was about a girl who harnessed the power of the elements, and put them into a special wand, and also her outfit changed. I really had to run home fast to catch even the last five minutes of Cardcaptors.

My earliest TV crush was… Ash Ketchum from Pokemon. He had a sassy attitude and good Pokemon abilities. I really thought he could make it work and I could be a beautiful and caring stepmother to Pikachu.

your favorite movie essay

The TV moment that haunts me is… I don’t know if it was a movie. I don’t know if it was a TV show, but it was a man trapped inside a burning car. I think I snuck down one night and turned on the TV, and there was a scene, and I was like, standing in front of it, like transfixed by this man trapped inside a burning car. I can still so clearly picture it, his seatbelt was all melted. I also think, possibly, he was Jesus?

The best NZ TV ad of all time is… The Beaurepaires Christmas ad. The Beaurepaires man would step out of the garage, for once in his life, and into this animated winter wonderland, and he’d start singing ‘Walking in a Winter Wonderland’. Still an omen of Christmas for me, whenever I would see the Beaurepaires Christmas ad I thought, ‘wow, the yuletide is approaching, school is almost over’.

My TV guilty pleasure is… Honestly, I feel guilty that I don’t watch that much television because it’s too much hassle. But instead, I’ll watch a six hour video essay on YouTube. My dream video essay is “here’s a defunct theme park you’ve never heard of before, we’ll tell you all about it in four hours”. For a while I got into YouTubers beefing with each other, like Tati Westbrook and James Charles. I didn’t even know them, but I would happily watch a three hour video essay all about their downfall. I think I was in quite a dark space mentally.

My favourite TV moment of all time is… I loved The Office UK so much. I had never seen something that was that funny, but also had that much heart to it. After all my family had gone to bed, I’d sneak down to the lounge, make myself a little hot chocolate, and then just watch The Office over and over and over again. Unfortunately, it’s become tainted because of Ricky Gervais generally growing to be someone I don’t respect anymore, but that final episode where Dawn comes back and kisses Tim is the most romantic thing in the whole world. It felt so real, it wasn’t overly cheesy, it wasn’t like all their problems have been solved, it just felt like the dawn breaking.

My favourite TV character of all time is… Any iteration of Sherlock Holmes. Whether that’s your Cumberbatch, your Johnny Lee Miller, I think there’s just something very compelling about his character. Also, he’s very good at solving murders and his powers of observation are second to none.

The most stylish person on television is… I feel like she gets brought up all the time, but Fran Drescher in The Nanny. I think there’s something about her being a comedian too, and that she let herself look hot. When I first started performing, I would dress down. I would wear blazers and ties, and I cut my hair really short and wore low shoes. I had this weird idea that if you were a female comedian, you couldn’t be attractive or feminine on stage. Someone like Fran is so funny, but also so feminine and fashionable and hot, and she did not apologise for that. These days you see a lot more high fashion female comedians, but I would say she’d be one of the first comedians I saw that was really glamorous.

your favorite movie essay

The funniest TV show ever made is… This is going to sound like a real comedy nerd answer, but it’s Garth Marenghi’s Darkplace. It stars Richard Ayoade, Alice Lowe and Matthew Holness. And it’s got cameos from people like Noel Fielding and Julian Barrett and Stephen Merchant, all your favourite comic heroes. Basically the premise was that Garth Marenghi was a horror writer, and he created this series called Garth Marenghi’s Darkplace, but it’s supposed to be bad. It cuts between a documentary about Garth Marenghi and the episode of Darkplace. It’s just so perfectly bad. It’s all on YouTube and I think it’s the funniest show of all time.

The TV show I’ve always wanted to be involved in is… I would like to be on The Traitors NZ, and I would like to choose who The Traitors are. I don’t want to host it, and I don’t want to be on it because I can’t lie. I just want to watch it, maybe I’d just hold a boom or something.

My controversial television opinion is… I reckon let’s cut down on streaming and bring back the video shop. Part of the reason I don’t watch as much television is because I go on and I’m overwhelmed with choice. I wish I could still go down to my local Video Ezy in Mosgiel, where the lady knew my name and would keep DVDs for me under the counter that she thought I might like. If I could only get television through leaving the house, I think that would be really positive for my mind and my spirit and my vitamin D levels.

A show I will never watch, no matter how many people say I should is… Breaking Bad. Seems stressful. I was late to the game, but I started to watch it back then I had a Twitter account, and I tweeted “I finally started breaking bad” and then someone random immediately replied saying [a major spoiler]. All the bloody wind was taken out my sails, and I swore to never watch Breaking Bad after that.

The last TV project I worked on is… 7 Days. It was actually a really good one, because New Zealand is so small that I think the entire cast of 7 Days was actually on the same pub quiz team. It was really nice, everyone felt really comfortable with each other and it kind of just felt like goofing around with friends.

The last thing I watched on TV was… My partner and I started to watch the latest season of True Detective with Jodie Foster. We’ve only watched the first episode, but it’s got a lot of good stuff going for it. Jodie Foster, of course, but it’s a murder mystery set in Alaska after the final sundown, so everything’s in the dark. Spooky. And did I mention, Jodie Foster is in it?

Taskmaster NZ, starring Abby Howells, begins Tuesday August 6 on TVNZ2
