There’s a popular idea that homework spelled backwards, krowemoh, means child abuse in Latin. But this idea doesn’t hold any water since the Latin alphabet doesn’t even contain the letter W.
It’s easy for students to come up with ludicrous ideas to get rid of the guilt of not doing homework. But the facts are different. Krowemoh is not a word in Latin, and it has nothing to do with child abuse. For that matter, it doesn’t even sound like a Latin word. German, maybe, but definitely not Latin.
Surely, students are not keen on the idea of doing homework every day. This is why they come up with these rumors and spread them among their peers. But in reality, homework is a useful way of assessing students’ knowledge. It’s tedious and hard for learners to do it every day, especially after a whole day of classes. But unfortunately, a better way of testing students’ knowledge hasn’t been invented yet. Whether it’s for written or oral examination, students still have to dedicate a lot of time to education at home.
In this article, we will try to change your opinion on homework by presenting you with some facts on its use in real life, as well as tips for making it easier on you.
It’s hard to trace back the origin of any myth, especially nowadays. Myths, rumors and ideas spread like wildfire these days. But most of them originate online. The same has most likely happened here. The most popular idea of this myth’s conception is that it originated as a joke. It probably started as a meme or a joke on some school’s forum and took off from there.
The thing about the internet is that, unfortunately, many people believe everything they see as long as they agree with it. If a young student sees a post on social media that says that homework is a form of child abuse, they are highly likely to believe it and start spreading this information. The reference to latin makes it that much more believable. Yet, this is a valuable lesson that we should all learn from. The internet is full of misinformation, and it’s paramount that you check your facts. The more sources you use the better. Just like with academic writing.
The truth is, homework is good for you. It gives you the opportunity to look at the facts presented during class from your own perspective. You research other sources, find more in-depth information and get acquainted with the topic on a deeper level. This leads to more profound and long-term learning.
Homework backwards is krowemoh. Krowemoh in Latin is not even a word. First of all, the Latin alphabet doesn’t use the letter ‘W.’ Homework in Latin is congue. This word also can mean loan depending on the context. By a long shot, this may even mean that doing homework will help you pay out your student loans.
Not that ancient Romans predicted education would be so expensive, you need to take a huge loan and pay it off for your entire life, but still. Doing homework, studying well and graduating will help you in the future. It may be hard to believe, but some companies still do care about your diploma. And those companies are the ones that pay the best.
In the English language, krowemoh meaning homework backwards doesn’t stand for anything but a bunch of gibberish. And it definitely does not mean child abuse, not in Latin or any other language. Even though it may not seem like it, homework is actually good for you.
Surely, most students are deeply opposed to doing homework. It takes a bunch of time, professors get stricter and more demanding every year, and the topics of those pesky essays seem to take you 40 years in the past sometimes.
For most people, the last thing they want to do after coming home from school is doing more school assignments. If you want to learn more about why homework should be banned , you should check out this article.
Luckily, modern students came up with many solutions to this issue. Some resort to AI tools to help them craft an outline for an essay. Unfortunately, the screws got pretty tight on using AI for homework help as soon as students started actively using it. Still, using AI for drafting a structure for your essay is not a crime. And it’s much easier to write once you have an outline.
Also, you can outsource your entire paper or some of its sections to professional services like Studyfy. A professional writer who you choose yourself will not use AI. Instead, they will use their expertise and years of experience to craft a custom paper just for you.

Why is homework important ? Homework is so far the best way to assess your knowledge, independence and critical thinking skills. Sure, you can use the internet while at home and research all the topics you don’t understand. But research is also an important skill that doing homework regularly teaches you.
Tests during classes are another means of assessing students’ knowledge. But the drawback is that they take quite a bit of time, and you can’t do them too often. Since if you would, the teacher would have no time to actually teach you new topics.
10 Benefits of Homework:
Homework is not just a torture device. Students learn a lot of valuable skills from doing their homework.
The first one is self-education. During higher education, like college or university, a lot more emphasis is placed on self education. Students are given part of the material is class, but the majority of the topic they are to learn independently. This is a very valuable skill that students will use way beyond campus.
Independence goes hand in hand with self-education. Independence in doing research, thinking critically, making decisions, like which approach to choose for a particular study, or even which assignment to tackle first, is very important for a student. You learn to prioritize, make executive decisions and solve problems.
Homework also teaches you consequences of actions. Sure, this may sound a bit childish, but there’s no better way to learn the value of prioritization than during a class for which you didn’t prepare. At least once, every student will decide to go out rather than do homework, and greatly regret it the next day. Forgetting about a test or an oral examination is a classic event that every student will go through. But after it happens once, you will check your homework assignments and schedules more carefully, right?
Struggling with homework? Get the support you need to succeed! Our resources and tips will help you manage your time, stay focused, and tackle challenging tasks with confidence. Let’s make learning easier together.
Homework in latin does not mean child abuse. This myth must be debunked and forgotten. What started as a joke has gone a bit too far, in our opinion. This should be a good lesson for students to not believe everything they see or hear online. The internet is full of misinformation and a lot of these false facts and propaganda are meant to cause a reaction. Don’t feed into this cycle.
Homework is a great device to test students’ aptitude in the topics they study. Usually, when professors give homework, they want to see how you work independently. They want you to show your critical thinking skills, your interpretation of the class materials and evidence of your independent research. This is not a torture device. But if you see it as one, it may surely feel like it. If you ever feel overwhelmed, remember that asking for help, like searching for ‘ do my homework ’ services, can provide the support you need to succeed.
But as soon as you change your perspective from ‘this professor just wants me to suffer,’ to ‘this professor wants me to learn deeper,’ doing homework will become easier. It’s not there to make you miserable. Instead, doing homework will help you do better in your classes. And in turn, it will help you secure a good job with a stable paycheck.
USC’s online graduate students join our programs from around the world, balancing full-time jobs, caregiver responsibilities and other obligations during their higher education journey.
But how do they network with peers and professors, leverage their lived experience and upskill while learning remotely?
USC Online spoke to several of USC’s stellar professors about how their classes keep connected — and the surprising benefits of online learning.
Diversity is the default in USC’s online classes. That’s because many students choose an online degree due to the flexibility.
“I see people coming from all walks of life,” said Anika Jackson, a professor in the Master of Science in Digital Media Management (MSDMM) online program at the USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism. “Many of them have aspired to attend USC and never thought they would be able to. The online programs have made it much easier with their real-life schedules to be able to realize that and achieve that dream.”
This means online students bring myriad perspectives from different companies, countries and seasons of life. Professors across programs agree that students’ varying backgrounds and viewpoints enhance the online learning experience.
“When we begin discussing different concepts and different models, everybody’s enlightened,” said Michael Harris, a professor in the Executive Master of Health Administration (EMHA) online program at the USC Price School of Public Policy. “There’s this sense of enrichment because of the different backgrounds of all the students and where they are in their careers.”
Through sharing their thoughts and experiences in online classes, students broaden each other’s worldviews and contribute to each other’s success.
“In a way, they become teachers as well,” said Miji John Vellakkatel, a professor in the Master of Science in Criminal Justice (MSCJ) online program at USC Bovard College.
Sometimes online courses are an even better option for learning than in-person classes because professors and students are forced to be intentional and make the most of their time together, Jackson said.
It’s easier to share your screen and collaborate on documents through video calls — and the online format encourages shy students to come out of their shells.
“No one can sit in the back on the Zoom screen,” said Courtney Malloy, a professor in the Doctor of Education in Organizational Change and Leadership (OCL) online program at USC Rossier School of Education. “You have the chat and you have the breakout rooms, so there’s multiple ways to engage folks for those who might feel more uncomfortable speaking out.”
Supporting online students is also a top priority for USC professors. While on-campus students may have more time to pop into their professors’ office hours during the week, it’s just as important that online students can access their professors easily. Online professors strive to make themselves available for academic and personal support — sometimes at unorthodox times.
“It’s not unusual for our instructors to have office hours on the weekend because we know you work during the week, and you use the weekend to get your work done,” Harris said. “That’s when those critical questions pop up.”
Despite the distance, online students can build strong relationships with their professors that serve them beyond getting a degree. Jackson said she has even referred students for jobs.
“One of them works at an agency that I was at previously, which I love … being able to make those connections more deeply with students is something I really value,” Jackson said.
Online USC students are “committed to each other’s success,” Vellakkatel said. Students in online programs network, share ideas, start businesses together and open doors for each other.
“The community can … feel stronger than on-ground programs because … [of the] intentionality with which we build the live sessions,” Malloy said. “And I also think that encourages students to connect. Our students are networking with each other constantly and doing study groups on the weekends.”
Even if students never meet in person because of geography — Jackson said she’s had classes spanning multiple continents — they’re still active participants in the Trojan Family.
“USC is unique in that the alumni network is lifelong and worldwide,” Malloy said. “You could be on a plane at the airport in Iowa and see someone with a USC sweatshirt. And you’re gonna say, ‘Fight On!’ to each other.”
Check out our Trojan Stories series for more insights into what to expect as an online graduate student at USC.

Very helpful app I was needing something to help me with my daughter’s homework my daughter is horrible on taking notes in school. And if I have notes to see the task I’m good at figuring it out how to do the rest so I tried this help because I couldn’t find anything online to help me. So when this can’t up I was like why not. And I was glad I did it tells u how to solve it. And I could figure out the rest by their help. The only thing I would like if they make another app or add on this this one for younger kids. I know a couple of parents that also need help with there kid’s homework (how to help there child I don’t do it for my kids do there homework but I have to explain it to them sometimes and for that I need to refresh my mind as will) and this is a great app for that just hope they for something god younger students grades 2nd to 5th graders would help parents a lot.
I love this app. Its saved me multiple times on upcoming tests, and the great thing about it is it thoroughly goes through the topic step-by-step making sure you understand how the AI got to the solution. All that to be said, I really wish there was a feature to edit the text that was scanned in the picture. I think its already an intended design because theres text displayed saying if you’d made typos heres the time to fix it, but it doesn't work. Tapping on the screen doesn't do anything. You can copy and paste the text but theres no way to edit it where the users keyboard opens. This is a 10/10 if I could edit the prompt.

Our Science and Engineering courses bring a variety of science topics to life. By introducing topics not covered in standard science curricula, we build and reinforce your science knowledge. All courses support critical thinking, problem solving, and reasoning, and encourage a real-life, hands-on approach to learning about Earth, space, life sciences, chemistry, and the physical world. Guided by expert CTY science educators, you’ll master science lab kits, perform hands-on experiments using common household objects, participate in dynamic group discussions, or prepare for AP exams.
Our completely redesigned Honors Physics course features new lessons, conceptual and problem-solving videos, and guiding questions that teach students how to solve each type of problem. Hands-on exploration activities challenge students to solve everyday physics problems from how giant cruise ships stay afloat to how to ship fragile packages without them breaking. Putting their physics knowledge to the test, students compete in our catapult design competition for Furthest Launch and Creative Design awards.
In the newly revised Inventions in Engineering course, students bring fantasy into reality by creating inventions to solve the problems of favorite fictional characters and the real world alike. A new unit in Introduction to Forensics asks students to evaluate the validity of various kinds of forensic evidence and its impact on the lives of individuals, and to provide recommendations on which types of forensic evidence should be admissible in the criminal justice system. In Household Chemistry , students engage in newly revised activities that help develop their skills in making and recording detailed observations using all 5 senses as they explore states of matter and the role chemistry plays in their daily lives.
I try to teach less and make students think more so they can come up with their own answers coupled with a better, deeper understanding of the subject matter.
One of the joys of teaching science is encouraging students to observe closely the world around them. I enjoy when students start to think critically about how everything in the natural world interacts with everything else, and how they can apply what they have learned in class to real life.
Science and Engineering Instructor
I am amazed at the level of tenacity of my students and am inspired by their quest to learn beyond walls and defined standards. They inspire me to learn more about our dynamic scientific world for continuous growth of their eager minds.

Has google really done its homework, did nazi this coming.
In February, Google's Gemini-powered AI image generator made headlines for all the wrong reasons.
At the time, the tech giant was forced to apologize after the tool gladly generated images of racially diverse Nazi-era German soldiers , seemingly overcorrecting for the tech's ongoing racial bias problems .
"We’re aware that Gemini is offering inaccuracies in some historical image generation depictions," Google wrote in a statement at the time. "We’re working to improve these kinds of depictions immediately."
But despite its promises, those changes seemingly took months to correct, with Google first failing to implement effective guardrails , and then shutting the feature down entirely , admitting that it had " got it wrong. "
Now, Google has announced that its AI image generator will come back online — and we can't wait to poke around and find its potential flaws this time around.
In a blog post , Gemini Experiences senior director Dave Citron promised that "we've upgraded our creative image generation capabilities" with a new model dubbed Imagen 3. The model comes with "built-in safeguards" and allegedly adheres "to our product design principles."
As detailed in a not-yet-peer-reviewed paper , Google DeepMind researchers used a "multi-stage filtering process" to "ensure quality and safety standards" with Imagen 3.
"This process begins by removing unsafe, violent, or low-quality images," the paper reads. " We then eliminate AI-generated images to prevent the model from learning artifacts or biases commonly found in such images."
Researchers used "safety datasets" to ensure that the model won't generate explicit, violent, hateful, or oversexualized images.
"We don’t support the generation of photorealistic, identifiable individuals, depictions of minors or excessively gory, violent or sexual scenes," Google wrote in its blog post.
But has the company really done its homework this time around? It remains to be seen whether Google's Imagen 3 will spit out images of racially diverse Nazis or horrific clowns .
"Of course, as with any generative AI tool, not every image Gemini creates will be perfect," Citron wrote, "but we’ll continue to listen to feedback from early users as we keep improving."

A year into the outbreak, an increasing share of U.S. adults said that K-12 schools have a responsibility to provide all students with laptop or tablet computers in order to help them complete their schoolwork at home during the pandemic. About half of all adults (49%) said this in the spring 2021 survey, up 12 percentage points from a year ...
