About the Position
Under the overall guidance of the Senior Scientist, the incumbent will assist in carrying out project activities including field works, database management and analyses, training, meetings and workshops.
The successful candidate will:
- Assist in carrying out literature reviews.
- Help collect survey data (quantitative) and qualitative data for projects as assigned by the Senior Scientist.
- Help with quantitative and qualitative assessments as assigned by the Senior Scientist.
- Assist in the collection of other types of data including monitoring data that may be required during project implementation.
- Assist with the implementation and maintenance of systems for data capture, storage, retrieval and analysis of projects.
- Assisting the M&E&L (Monitoring & Evaluation & Learning) Coordinator set up project M&E&L system and databases and develop tools to monitor and evaluate progress achieving the key outcomes indicated in the Results Framework.
- Assisting the Office Administrator set up the workshops with partners and private companies.
- Assisting Scientists and Research staff and Consultants carry out specific research to inform the design of key project activities, especially research to integrate youth and gender into project activities.
- Assisting the Communications Specialist to develop initial communications outputs for relevant project.
- Carrying out other tasks as determined by the Project Leader and Manager during the course of the internship.
Requirements
This job might be for you if you have the below skills and qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Agricultural Economics, Business Degree, Aquaculture and fisheries or its equivalent. An equivalent higher education and/or experience in rural development is a plus.
- Ability to think clearly and analytically, setting priority, meeting deadlines, solving problems and making timely decision.
- Strong research methods skills.
- Excellent quantitative skills.
- Ability to draft research concepts, reports and publications.
- Relevant working experience in aquaculture/fisheries and/or rural development, with proven experience in project implementation, monitoring and coordination.
- Skills in gender analysis or willingness to learn.
Desired Skills and Qualifications
- Proficient in English language both verbal and written.
- Knowledge in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SSPS, STATA, NVIVO.
- Ability to research, plan, implement technical program related to your work area.
- Ability to work with minimum supervision.
- Consistently approaches work with energy and a positive, constructive attitude.
This is a Nationally Recruited Staff (NRS) position and WorldFish offers a competitive remuneration package including comprehensive benefits (but not limited to) insurance coverage for staff and eligible dependents, 15% employer provident fund contribution, paid leave and others. The duration of the contract will initially be for a three-year period with possibility for extension, depending on funding and performance.

The Bennett Institute for Public Policy invites applications for a Research Assistant.
The Bennett Institute is a major, multi-disciplinary research centre committed to producing world-leading research on policy questions in the age of disruption. It is based at the University of Cambridge, within the Department for Politics & International Studies, and is led by its inaugural Director Professor Michael Kenny, and Professor Diane Coyle, the Bennett Professor of Public Policy.
The Research Assistant will undertake a range of research tasks in support of the Institute's programmes of research, most likely in one or more of the following areas: institutions; governance; devolution; and public administration.
The successful candidate should have a good first degree in one of the Social Sciences or another cognate discipline, a good understanding of the policy-making process, and experience of qualitative research. They should be flexible and adaptable, and may be called upon to support the events programme of the Institute.
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 24 months.

Job summary
- Provides dynamic and proactive administrative support to the Program Coordinator/ Project Manager, Regional Coordinator, Mentorship, District, Facility and Community Team members.
- Liaises with all team members to coordinate request of activity funds according to draw down schedule and according to approved budget.
- Processes and submits all expense requests as per the stipulated submission procedures as well as follow up the process proactively.
- Manages accurately office petty cash, prepares receipts and expenditure statements for submission to Finance and ensures timely retirements of activity funds.
- Facilitates procurement and availability of all required office supplies.
- Ensures office utilities such as electricity are paid for timeously as necessary.
- Tracks program expenses and supports tracking of approved program budget.
- Maintains an active log system on all logistics orders and deliveries.
- Maintains a good hard & soft copy filing system on all program correspondence and other
- documentation.
- Maintains a good stock and inventory management of onsite and offsite CIDRZ assets.
- Coordinates travel plans of the teams and helps to plan/organize travel arrangements
- accordingly, with good communication of all parties involved.
- Coordinates transport routing and drivers in line with CIDRZ transport policies.
- Manages and organizes program events such as: trainings, meetings, retreats, team building
- activities, etc.
- Schedules and prepares for meetings and takes minutes as requested.
- Diploma in Business Administration or other relevant equivalent qualification
- At least 2 years’ relevant work experience working in an office environment and program
- Ability to understand and utilize systems (e.g. ERP System)
- Organizational Skills
- Proven competency in MS Office, Internet, MS-PowerPoint and related systems
- Excellent interpersonal and intercultural communication skills
- Accurate and attentive to detail
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- A commitment to teamwork and ability to work individually
