SZA may be an amazing vocalist, but when it comes to math, she’s not exactly hitting high notes. On Wednesday (Aug. 28) night, a fan slid into her DMs asking for help with geometry homework and, unfortunately, didn’t get the answers they needed.
“SZA, I’m failing geometry. Can you give me math tips?” they asked. She responded, “Ma’am, I’m a math dummy. I’m not sure what [you] expected. Tell me about the shapes, [child]. How can I help?”
The fan then sent a picture of a page about "finding coordinates" with the message, “I just can’t do this.” Humorously, SZA also conceded defeat: “Oh, b**ch, [you’re] cooked.” In the Top Dawg Entertainment songstress’ subsequent Instagram Story , she wrote, “I appreciate the faith in me.”
Social media eventually caught wind of the situation, with many others sharing their algebra horror stories. One user replied, “[This is] me with my son’s math homework.” Another shared, “The only math I do on a daily [basis] is making sure my paycheck adds up. Anything else is lost on me.”
Elsewhere, someone emphasized, “Math really started losing me when they started adding letters to the equation. I still have [yet to] find out what X equals since I graduated.”
Earlier in the month, SZA announced that she was going on a hiatus from live performances . Taking to Twitter, she shared, “Yesterday (Aug. 4) was my last show for a while. [I’m] finally ‘bout to get my life together. Thank [you], God.” Though she didn’t disclose why she is taking a break, the artist spent much of 2023 on the road for her “SOS Tour,” which spanned over 60 worldwide stops.
SZA is also working on her next full-length project . During her headlining set at BST Hyde Park in June, she asked the crowd, “New album, you ready?” Fans also got a sneak peek at a track that is likely to appear on it.
